Your first experience is so important when youre trying to make a change. I joined WAC so that I could get a trainer and work out before work as I work long hours and couldnt find any other time that could make it happen. I was referred to a trainer. The guy wanted to be called "BIG JON" he told me that he had "1000s of clients" and they had reached "100% of their goals "and then told me that I was wrong in my thinking, wrong about genetics and scoliosis, wrong about weighing or measuring as goal setting, etc. I figured hey- ive tried it my way long enough, Ill suspend my questions and give it a try. After our first session of 1/2 hour I paid for 1/2 hours vs 1 hours because i did not know if this was going to work out. The next day, in the middle of the gym area, bigg jon told me he thought I was too negative and he did not want to work with me and would not speak with me about why other than that. It was so weird and so unprofessional that I was just flabbergasted. ...then it hit me. I switched from 1hrs to 1/2s before starting the program. That was 2 weeks ago and i cant make myself get back in there because i think what a drag to go try and start something new again when someone like biggy jon could do the same thing. Im still waiting for a credit for the sessions that I bought. i hope i can still get assistance- maybe outside the gym or at another location. If you like to swim, its got a great pool. Thats the only thing im holding onto right now to try and get in shape.

Ive been going to this gym for nearly 2 years now, and I only have good things to say about it. The gym is kept clean, there are lots of machines and free weights, and the basketball court is a big plus. Sure, it can get crowded at times, but thats the case in nearly every gym. Some people complain about the price being a bit high, but you get what you pay for. The price really helps weed out people who are just there to go through the motions and dont take fitness seriously, it also forces you to get into the gym so youre not paying for nothing. The WAC offers lots of free classes, the freedom to work out at several locations, and an overall great atmosphere so the price is justified. In reference to all the negative comments on here. It seems funny that all of the people complaining either got a dose of reality as to how bad their current lifestyles were and just got their pride hurt and decided they were perfect and that the WAC was the issue and not themselves. Also, complaining about not getting a free shirt was the reason you dont like the gym, are you 5 years old? Lastly, Big Jon is a great trainer and very knowledgeable, if he dropped you as a client it was definitely because of your attitude and not about you cutting your sessions down to a half hour. Your lack of dedication and piss poor attitude are the problem and not Big Jon.

Ive been coming here 4 - 5 days a week since 2005. This is a really friendly, warm and welcoming club with no judgment. When I started I could barely do 4 sit ups and at my own pace Ive come a long way. They used my name when they saw me within the first week and encouraged me to keep coming back. I love the complimentary lunchtime classes of "Cardio Circuit", "Cycle" and "Strength" they are better than I ever expected. Since 2011 Ive hired a trainer, "Big John" as everyone calls him. He has changed my life. Never have I met someone so positive and encouraging and yet really attentive to proper form and safety. Together we have worked on building serious muscle once to twice a week. Hopefully Ill be ready to enter their "Strong Man" competition this fall. This has been a dream of mine, to learn the proper barbell lifts and presses on the heavier side. Its been a long haul but Im getting there. Cant say enough great things about everyone at the Wauwatosa WAC and especially my trainer John Duginski.

Ive been a member at a "high-traffic low monthly cost" facility and pretty much you get what you pay for. To me it was missing the personal touch...to them I was just another person walking through the door and they could care less about me. The staff at the WAC - Tosa is second to none and has made my experience that much better. I have seen a few new faces up there over the past year. The WAC even lowered the cost of some of their memberships which made things manageable....and best of all I didnt have to get into a contract like the previous gym! I never have to wait for equipment because there is so much of it and I love the energy flowing through this club. I joined last summer and they were running some pretty good promos at that time! The construction isnt as bad as I thought it would be as I just cut through the Froedtert campus and it might take me an extra 2 minutes.

Very nice facility. Staff is friendly as well. I highly question the facility usage decisions of management here though. For example 30-40 members use the gym to play basketball on Saturday mornings, yet they have a kids camp that uses the space most of the morning (which averages 3-6 kids). You will commonly seen10 guys just waiting outside to get on the floor. Another example is today where they shut the court down for a poorly attended strong man competition. Great gym with great staff but I question some of thier decisions in how they use thier facilities to meet the needs of the majority of thier members.

Nothing is perfect in the world - true... however, I have been a member of WAC since the 1980s. Love being a part of this club. Machines are great & plentiful, people are nice & the locker rooms are extremely clean & tidy. The vibe is very supportive - whether youre a veteran exerciser or a newbie! Great mix of humanity... with plenty of space, loads of classes & activities to be involved in, plus, they renew key areas of the facility on a regular basis. That said, I guess its my kind of perfect - Thanks WAC Team :)

Im surprised by the poor reviews of this gym! Ive been attending 3-4 days per week for the past year. This is a very popular gym, so it does get busy before 8am & after 5pm on weekdays and on Saturday mornings, but that is with every previous gym Ive been to. I chose this gym because of the MANY classes offered, sauna, pool, clean locker rooms and location. The staff is very friendly! This is the 5th gym Ive had a membership to & its by far my favorite.

Very nice gym. Clean equipment and locker rooms. They have a good selection of equipment and honestly even during busy times its easy to get a workout in. No Dbags taking up mirror space and flexing or anything stupid like that. I havent taken any of the classes but they seem to have quite a few. Personal training is affordable, and tjey have a kids play area too. Great gym in my opinion.
