I asked to have my long hair cut back to shoulder length level with the back a little longer so that I could put my hair into a pony tail. Well, she cut my hair after asking what I wanted. The first cut she made without showing me where she planned to cut, was 2 INCHES ABOVE my shoulder! My hair has not been this short in over 50 years. I cannot get my hair into a pony tail, and I have to keep fussing with it because I dont have time to keep managing it all day long as it is too short to even style in a page boy style. This is the worst hair cut I have ever had. My husband calls it a chop shop job.He wants me to wear a hat when we go out until my hair will grow out (in about 3-4 months) I am very unhappy! I am never coming back to the McHenry, IL Hair Cuttery. I am going back to GREAT CLIPS, where I would have gone to if they had been open at the time (they closed 1/2 hour before I got there, my mistake,) I should have waited until the next day. They do a Great job for less!

I used to think Hair Cuttery was a step up from Sports Clips, Cost Cutters, etc but still a step down from one of those $50 hair cut salons, etc. But Ive had a few bad hair cuts from this place. I dont think mine are that difficult. 3 on the sides, finger length on top, messy style. Simple. Ive never had a good experience at this location. Once I had some guy who smelled so bad of cigarettes that I felt it my lungs all day. Another time I had a girl who cut my ear. The stories go on. So no more for me. Ive given too many chances thinking it was the person, now I realize its the management and their choices.

This review is for Shannon. I have dark hair and have been trying to achieve blonder hair for some time now. I know, this is often times challenging. We are often told "I dont know how its going to turn out" Nope Shannon nailed it with full highlights! No brown stripes or hunks, no orange, no weird chunky look - it blended in PERFECTLY. Its full on honey blonde and beautiful! She was able to do exactly what ive been wanting forever! Im SO happy!!!

DO NOT USE YOUR DEBIT CARD, CASH OR CHECK HERE!!!! They have a bogus policy that nobody tells you when you purchase a product that if you want to return it but you paid with one of those payment methods I mentioned above, you can only get a store credit back. WTH?? Their excuse is that its on the receipt...well, how am I supposed to know that when paying?! If I have my receipt then I already paid! Just be safe and stay away from Hair Cuttery.

Usually go here and had a great hair cut. Was there 2 months ago and my hair has still not grown out right from the last hair cut. Called to let them know what was going on and was told because it was so long (2 months ago roughly) since the last hair cut, they would not comp or discount my next hair cut to be fixed. Pretty upset with that. On to find another place now.
