Last update: The molding tray under the engine and transmission disconnected and lowered down, so I stopped by to check/install the screw that holds it up. It is a plastic screw that they pushed in - one click, but I did not have a screw. It took them 5 minutes to pull in the car and do it, but the new manager, John, took his opportunity to make a quick buck on this, $20. Their oil change includes 4 quarts of oil, a new filter, and "includes 23-point inspection & tire pressure and fluid level check", and it costs $19.95, less than this screw. Truly, they used this screw not as a noun but as a verb on me. They did not even show remorse or apology for the last oil change when they left grease inside my car and overfilled the oil. Greedy and disloyal. Todays update: Before posting this review I sent a message to Meineke Webmaster/Customer Service suggesting that the owner, David Becker, calls me to discuss, and I believed it was his fair chance, but he did not call me back. I then posted this review. Today he left 2 messages on my phone threatening to sue me. It looks like he wants to sue me for sharing my feelings. I called him to listen to him, but he did not let me say a word and kept threatening and lecturing. He forgot that customers are not his mechanics, and they are entitling to an opinion and feelings. Mr. Becker, you may take me to court for feeling mistreated, disservices, and unhappy. You dispute that you do not use nitrogen for tires; OK, I can drop this. Who cares about nitrogen when you left my car cabin greasy, overfilled engine oil, and charged $20 for a plastic screw. REPLY TO DAVID BECKER (BELOW): 1. HOW CAN I GET MONEY FROM BAD REVIEWS, AND WHATS WRONG WITH BAD REVIEWS? THIS IS THE BEST OF THE FREE WORLD VS. SOVIET UNION: YOU CAN VOICE YOUR OPINION NO MATTER HOW UNPLEASANT IT MAY SOUND TO THE REVIEWED BUSINESS. I HAVE TO CONFESS: I DO NOT ALWAYS POST POSITIVE REVIEWS - VERY HUMAN - WRITE WHEN I FEEL HUMILIATED OR CHEATED. 2 HE GAVE HIS OWN BUSINESS 5 STARS - IS IT FAIR?.. 3. YES, I CHANGED MY GOOGLE NAME, SO WHAT? WHAT ABOUT MILLIONS WITH "CUTIE", BLOGMAN", "EAT RIGHT", ETC. NAMES? DAVID, TALK ABOUT THE FACTS AND IMPROVE YOUR SERVICE RATHER THAN COMPETE WITH ME IN BASHING EACH OTHER. My next step is BBB.

I used to trust Meineke at other locations and would always tell my family and friends to go there, and that it was worth it to pay more for better quality service. However, at the Meineke in Mundelein, the staff was dishonest and very rude. I cross-referenced their quote of $2,850.00 to repair shocks, rear brakes, and struts with the actual cost of parts, and found that they had marked up the prices close to 500%! I dont mind paying for labor because it is hard work and I appreciate the expertise, but with a mortgage and student loan payments, I cant afford to pay $250.00 for every $50.00 part. If the markup prices were 200 or even 300% I could understand that they are running a business and need to make a profit, but 500% is an unfair markup that no one should have to pay. When I asked how much they were charging for parts, they became angry and said that each and every part was what their mechanic said was needed. I then spoke with the manager who said that they hadnt even looked at my car yet!! When I asked why his employee said otherwise, and why their information was inconsistent, he became hostile and told me to take my car, that they refused to work on it!! He even went so far as to send me a text telling me that if I did not pick up my car, he would call the police and have it impounded! All because I caught them in a lie?? Extremely unprofessional and NOT trustworthy!! I had this work done at a different shop, that charged me $900.00 for all of the labor and parts combined (a savings of $1,950.00).

Fantastic experience. One of the downsides of moving to this area was having to leave my trusted mechanic, but Ive found a worthy replacement. When I heard some squealing from my brakes, I called around for a same-day appointment. Places either wouldnt take an appointment or couldnt fit me in after work, meaning Id have to have repairs done over multiple days. (One even said that just the inspection alone would take a full 60 minutes.) Tianna at Meineke fit me in immediately and made sure that not just the inspection but the replacement of ALL my brake pads and rotors were done in no time, plus an oil change. The team went all out to make sure everything was done quickly and was done well, all between me getting out of work and them closing for the night. As another plus, the office is stocked with all kinds of magazines. Its nice to see a repair shop that puts out more than just a few Car & Driver and Golf Magazine issues. And Tianna is excellent company if you choose to wait for the repairs. I cant sing this place enough praises. From conveniences like booking appointments online to loaner cars to fair pricing, this place is really amazing. I was never talked down to, everything was explained 100 percent. I do my best to take care of my car so it can run safely as long as possible, and its clear that the team here takes pride in their work and that my car is in good hands.

Run like a hungry lion is chasing you! Please read! I took my car to Meinekes because of a noise coming from back of my car. David ( The owner) and the office manger seemed nice until I understood why they have that smiley face! My car needed new brake pads, new rotors in the rear and new calipers in the front. The starting quote was $1100! after half an hour negotiating he agreed to do the job for $880. I rented car and left my car at their shop for the night. I was shocked with the repair cost, so I started looking at the prices of my parts, guess what? the total price for those part was only $200! I called him first thing in the morning and asked him to tell me how much he was charging me for the labor, he said $200. So, He was charging me $680 for the parts!!!! He refused to show me the receipt for the parts ( other shops let you know what the cost is for your parts) and he said I am a socialist! Mechanics are supposed to charge you for the labor (which is not cheap) and a little more for purchasing your parts, but not %500!!! I canceled my repair and I had to pay him $250 for doing absolutely nothing. He has worked in different dealerships for 25 years and has a dealership attitude (charging as much as possible). He has no ethics! Do your research before getting robbed like me! I fixed the car for $300 elsewhere.

I cant begin to express my gratitude for the staff at Meineke Car Care in Mundelein. 5 Stars isnt enough!! Over the last two years, I have had three extremely positive experiences with my own vehicles, but this one tops them all and compelled me to write a review. My daughter had a less than positive experience trying to deal with a different local auto business and was searching for someone who she could trust with her car, and would treat her fairly. Tianna, Meinekes Store manager, took the time to work with her and Dave, the owner, even took my daughter along on the test drive to be sure he was diagnosing the correct noise/problem. Once they returned to the shop, a few simple adjustments seemed to take care of the knocking noise, as they noticed that the lug nuts on her vehicle had been loose. I cant begin to comprehend the danger my daughter has been in while driving her car, since the other shop had worked on it. Im not sure if this excellent service can be generalized to all Meineke shops, but I will definitely continue to recommend Dave Beckers Meineke shops to my friends and family! Thank you Dave and Tianna!
