Our daughter was at the center for maybe 2 mths and I had a bad gut feeling the entire time. We in rushed to find childcare and settled on this place because it seemed to have good security and in a decent location. The employees were extremely rude and unprofessional. It was impossible to get them to speak two words to me upon picking her up everyday. The other kids there were always crying and standing at the door making impossible to get in her room. The workers never bothered trying to help move the out of the doorway. All the children were sick and had snotty noses and thick yellow coming from their eyes and looked like their faces hadnt been wiped all day. I had asked about one little girl one day and the worker literally told me "yea she shouldnt be here" .. made me feel great about leaving my kid there. When picking my daughter up she was always off by herself either laying down on the floor or with her head down on a table. She would cry every time I dropped her off and it never got any better. The last straw was arriving to pick her up and seeing her asleep on the floor by herself, I had asked the teacher why she was sleeping and if she wasnt feeling well. I was told she had been acting like that all day and wasnt feeling well. I never recvd a call or was notified about this. Got my daughter home and did a full inspection on her body and noticed her entire mouth covered in blisters which ended up being hand foot mouth. As for the security.. The key pad entry on the front door wasnt working for over a month. Parents dropping off and picking up their children were expected to open the door for each other. No idea if they were letting in a predator or criminal. They were supposed to fill out daily reports on our child and those were always left mostly blank. Most days when arriving the workers were on their phones or eating. My daughter was there for two months and they never once asked for her immunization records. My daughter is now in another center and her behavior has changed dramatically within 2 weeks. It makes me sick to my stomach to know she was that unhappy at this center. I feel so bad for the other children still there.

My child has been at Southside since infancy. I toured several places in the city and Southside was so much nicer, brighter, and cleaner than any other place I toured. I never had to second guess the safety or security system at Southside. On the occasion that grandparents have had to pick up my child, theyve checked IDs, made copies, and had them sign the register. They recently implemented a new preschool program and so far, we love it. My child comes home frequently talking about what they all learned that day. I believe theyre also applying to increase their level/ranking on the Paths to Quality program. My only concern has been the turnover in Directors in the past year. Two left rather suddenly and without explanation. Ive never had a problem with any of the Directors, including the current one. I wish they had a bigger variety of meal options for the kids, even a mexican or chinese food day to expose the kids to different cultures, but I realize thats partly governed by state regulations.
