Great personal interaction, service and haircuts! I have very high standards for my haircuts. I used to be petrified by an idea of going to a hair salon, because every time I would go I would be greatly disappointed - either by how a hairdresser treats me or my hair. Not at TRU! Love the place and all people working there! I see Loren when I go to TRU. I have never had to wait for my appointment longer than 5 min. (Mind you, waiting time would be no issue at the salon with a personal attention from the receptionist Sarah.) I greatly respect Loren for his professionalism. He listens with great care when I tell him what I would like to see at the end of the appointment. During my very first appointment, we went over my hair type, how often I wash my hair, what products I use, how often I want to come, etc. After then I never had to tell any of it again, he remembers it all and that was over 2 years ago! I love that Loren can keep a conversation without invading my personal matters. The whole atmosphere at the salon is very relaxed yet very professional. That said, the most important reason why I keep seeing Loren, of course, is the haircuts he does. I have medium long hair and it looks great even when my hair outgrow. I am not handy with hairdryer and other hair products, but I find no problem recreating the styling because Loren shows me how to style it (I had 3 very different haircuts in 2 years). The key point is, I receive high end quality haircuts and feel like seeing old good friend during every visit at TRU

I have been going to Tru for a couple of years now and its time to reveal the TRUth about them! I have always been a person with fine hair but never one of those people who receive constant compliments about their hair.......until I have been seen at Tru! Now my friends and family love my hair, call it gorgeous, beautiful, all sorts of words I never used to associate with MY hair. I have Holly, Loren and their supportive staff to thank for this healthy change in my life!! Everytime I go in I completely trust whatever they are going to do. They are both so stylish and honest therefore know how to make you look your best. There is no doubt in my mind of both Holly and Laurens capabilities and knowledge about hair products, color, style, length-everything! I am so thrilled with how I look everytime I leave there that I have decided to have Holly do my hair for my upcoming wedding and I know itll be great! I love the hip, laid-back, atmosphere of the salon and have recommended it to everyone I can-male and female. Now several people I know go there and keep going back for more! Thank you to Loren and Holly for rockin my world of hair! You should feel great because I have never received so many compliments and felt so great with my hairstyle! If you are reading this and are unhappy with your hair, you NEED to give Tru a try. -Molly B.

I usually do not write reviews; however, my experience being a client of Tru has truly been a blessing in my life that extends beyond the AMAZING and beautiful hair cuts and styles I receive! Holly has been such a blessing in helping me have the courage and confidence to see myself as beautiful and take the daring step of going for the Pixie cut!! Tru offers a complementary 10 minute clean up for those of us with very short hair to help clean up the neck hair and help maintain the short cut until your next schedule hair cut. I was unable to schedule this with Holly and scheduled with Alex for an evening time after work. I had a very stressful work day and was tearful and tired on my commute home. I went directly to the salon from work and the gals, Alex and Amber lifted my spirits without even knowing I was having a tough day! Amber made me a cup of Chai tea, putting it in a to-go cup. Alex was the stylist who did my 10 minute clean up and didnt make me feel rushed. I left Tru after being there about 20 minutes feeling cared for, calm and had my Chai tea to drink on my way home. The gals at Tru made my day!! I always walk out of the salon feeling more balanced, calm, confident and joyful. Im very grateful!!! Thanks for all you do Tru!!!

Believe the reviews; Tru Salon is absolutely amazing, 5 stars. I have been to many different salons in both the Coralville area and in Des Moines and had yet to find a place quite like Tru Salon. Each time I go I have been welcomed warmly and offered a beverage, I automatically feel at ease and comfortable (sometimes going to a stylist gets me a tad anxious). So far, Ive only gone to Loren and he is amazing, but from what Ive read I would not doubt the other stylists skills. Loren taught me so much about my hair, things I had never been told before. Ive been stuck with this head of hair for 22 years and finally someone explained to me how to wash, style, and care for it properly. If you are worried about the price be reassured that it is worth every penny and you will walk away feeling great, looking great, and knowing that you have learned something. I highly recommend going to Tru Salon.

I initially chose Tru Salon for hair/makeup for myself and my wedding party because when I called and said that we needed to start at 7am, they didnt immediately tell me that no salon would start that early and good luck with my search. I was so fortunate that they were so friendly and helpful from the beginning AND did such high-quality work! I am so happy with how my hair and makeup turned out for my wedding! The staff was so nice and the breakfast they provided was awesome. I hadnt slept more than 3 hours the night before and one girl went to the coffee shop next door to get me a latte while I got my makeup done. It was JUST what I needed. We were on a tight timeline and they did everything they could to accommodate. I would highly recommend Tru Salon for wedding parties!

My hour long hair cut appointments at Tru Salon are not just an hour of wash, dry, and style. Its that PLUS education - Loren has taught me to wash less and experience faster growing stronger healthier hair. I love working with dirty hair because it is much easier to style. When I do not know what to do, Loren is always there to teach me a new style method. My favorite day is day 5 after wash - it took me forever to get comfortable with it but with guidance and support from Loren, it has been a huge accomplishment! Sheila is the positive motivating individual who schedules and meets you at the door! A lot of Tru Salon success is due to Sheila. She is amazing! I highly recommend Tru Salon...the best investment is the investment in yourself! Education and all!

This was NOT a good haircut experience for me. I chose Tru Salon because of the excellent reviews. Loren was the stylist given to me and I felt judged and totally un-worthy of being their customer. When I explained what kind of haircut I wanted, I was criticized that it was not the right hair cut for me. Then I was lectured for not using salon shampoo/conditioner, and lectured again for washing my hair daily. While drying my hair, he actually stopped working so that he could rant on and on about what I was doing WRONG. I felt uncomfortable during the haircut, and unworthy when I left. And the haircut was not even that good... certainly not anything special. I cant believe I spent $70 on a lecture and a mediocre cut. Never going back here again.
