I am a member of Genesis after they bought out the 24 Hour Fitness locations in the area. I typically go to the Ward Parkway location which I wont compare the two, but I was working in a remote office up the street and go to the gym daily so I felt maybe a new to me gym would be fun. I called to make sure I was able to access this gym, prior to the buyout, I was able to access all 24 hours in the area but they explained to me that there is usually a $5 up-charge or Id have to change my membership. Well the person on the phone, as nice as she was, never really answered my question and seemingly assumed Id need to change my membership or pay the up-charge. She said shed waive the charge that day for me since it was my first time, I said okay as I didnt want to have a long drawn out conversation over a simple question as I needed to get some stuff done so I could leave work and get to this gym. Walking in to this gym, it felt really dated so at first it was hard to see why this required a "premium" membership or an extra $5 a day you go. I walked in and explained the situation to the girl at the counter, that it was my first time and what not and I wasnt sure if my membership would work there normally or not. She gave me a pointing tour of the building of where things were. This gym had a really interesting layout, probably not my favorite though. There was so much room but maybe thats because of the vaulted ceilings. All of the exercise equipment still seemed very crowded because they put it all in the middle of the track, and Im no runner but Id hate to have to dodge people crossing the track to grab their bag, or go to the restrooms etc. but again this was my first time so I dont know how many people actually go to this gym. Anyways, I had a pretty decent work-out my only nit-pick issues were that it was pretty dark, like hardly any lighting aside from the big windows. It was after 5 so maybe at like noon on a sunny day it would be better. One more thing is the mirrors are so far away since theyre placed on the outside of the track. Not ideal, if youre interested in checking out your form, snap a quick swelfie, or check out the hottie next to you nonchalantly. Anyways, there were only a couple customers who I had issues with when I walked away to fill up my water bottle, leaving my bag behind to "mark" my territory. I came back to them already working on their super-sets of whatever. I waited for one of them to finish their set before I interjected mentioning that I was still working here but there were 3 other spots open they could do their workout at. They scoffed a bit and were reluctant but eventually human instincts kicked in and they gave me back my spot. I was really surprised I got so much attitude with all the open spots, and they already saw me there to begin with. Anyways, I grunted heavily and threw some heavy weights around and eventually they stopped giving me evil looks. Everyone else was really nice about giving everyone their personal space to do their thing, I even got some smiles, and people politely asking if something was in-use. Anyways, Im going to fast forward this a bit to the whole point of my two stars. I simply do not see why this gym costs more unless theres a pay wall to "exclude" certain members or exclude certain areas of the city. Since I work in the area once and a while, it would be great to stop in at a different location sometimes. I imagine the extra charge is for the indoor tennis courts(I dont play tennis), the indoor track(not a big runner) or because they provide a towel service (I didnt know this until half way through my workout but usually bring my own). So, dont think this is some magically great gym because it costs more, you can definitely find other gyms with the exact same equipment for a better price, minus some of the niche indoor things(tennis court/track).

My wife and I were members at the 24Hour Fitness club in OP for about 10 years. It was acquired by a Wichita company called Genesis. We began to notice problems at the checkin desk when the staff could not find account information and were, often, distracted on their smartphones. Billing issues resulted in a number of inquiries to management. The management team had problems with the information system and could not provide account information. At that time, equipment maintenance seemed to be delayed. I was unable to obtain assistance at the local club, or at the corporate offices. We elected to terminate our membership. We had no existing membership obligations. We completed the process of account termination and joined another health club. It has been more than a year since we left the club. In July 2017, I noticed two charges, from Genesis, on my credit card account. We had had no contact or communication from this club in over a year. I reported the unauthorized charges to my banking institution and a new card has been issued. The unauthorized charges have yet to be resolved. Thus far, I have spent many hours updating account information with charities and other merchants who make approved charges to my account. The the lack of courtesy, or competence, from Genesis should be a concern to all who have an interest in this organization. Certainly, I would give careful consideration to allowing Genesis access to a credit card. I am very disappointed to have lost a gym that I really liked.

Managers a little punk went in there for my seven day free trial like It said online spoke to the guy told him I was coming in he said he would wait hes the manager thats the guy I want to talk to . Like I said seven day free trial dude was like Ill give you a deal its normally $45 but Ill give it to you for $30 thats not what it says online. not to mention everybody that works in the front desk acts like a child and very immature. They need to probably take their job a little more seriously not stand around and think its conversation hour .... figures they would have a meathead little punk as a manager there. even before he even opened up his stupid mouth he walked up to me like he was the biggest guy on earth like dude youre supposed to be in hospitality not trying to be intimidating and look like a Jack @as if youre going to spend that kind of money on a health club go to lifetime fitness- they were easy and painless. I was also asked this question: your not going to break anything are you? Why would you ask me that? (Im an average looking person who goes to the gym) it was rude and disrespectful. Im assuming they thaught I was a lot younger than I was because I havent been treated like that sense I was in high school or college. " oh you look like you work out" stupidest thing to say to somebody tool of a manager!"
