Based upon the reviews and recommendations from friends, we selected Appelhanz Roofing for a $6,000 gutter/soffit/fascia job - not sure where we went wrong. It appears the majority of folks have had great experiences with them as a company, we havent. The work completed was of acceptable quality, though I found myself checking a few places with known rotted wood (the entire point of replacing the fascia) and the individuals simply wrapped over the rotted wood with aluminum - I had to point this out to the workers so they would replace the wood, it makes me wonder what else I missed. Portions of the gutters are not up against the fascia entirely which allows water to drip from the roof, along the fascia and drips off the bottom of the gutters - kind of defeats the purpose of gutters if you ask me. I sent an email about this issue just over two months ago, was told it would be looked at (hasnt been) and had to send another email today. Overall the project went rather smoothly, gutters are up, fascia and soffit is up - I just question what I cant see considering the issues I found already. Communication with this company is less than adequate, we were in limbo for weeks when it began - I wasnt wanting the project completed ASAP, I just wanted an email or phone call with an estimate about when it would be completed. I had to speak with the owner himself to get that information. I understand companies get busy, however that shouldnt degrade the communication to its customers - based on our experience, well be taking our business elsewhere from this point on. We continue to have the feeling of being an inconvenience, which is frustrating when you cut a $6,000 check. ** 12/23/2014 Update ** Ill change the rating I gave to a 3, bottom line the work is complete, it looks good and seems to be holding up quite well thus far. I continue with the 3 stars simply because of the lack of communication we experienced and the oversight that was required. We were told, after all the guttering was installed, whoever installed the roofing on the house originally used the incorrect size drip-shield/drip foot - which didnt allow the gutters to properly be seated allowing water to get to the fascia. This drip-shield was fixed on one portion of the house by Bryan with Appelhanz however I havent inspected second levels or anywhere else and had to specifically request this repair. Heres the bottom line. When hiring a contractor the customer shouldnt need to oversee these issues, if the incorrect drip-shield was discovered - let us know so we can get it fixed; dont continue to install the gutters improperly, wait for the customer to maybe realize they dont fit and cross your fingers they dont call you back. That specific reason is why we wont be calling Appelhanz in the future. Please take this review with a grain of salt, perhaps Appelhanz Roofing specifically isnt to blame for this oversight issue - the contractors who completed the work are. Id review them if I knew who they were. I just cant wrap my head around why work was continued, letting me know after the fact a $6,000 project was completed - when they knew this was incorrect. Doesnt compute.

The roofers did a good job on the roofing, shingles and vents as a overall whole. It seems to be installed correctly and they had it done very quickly like within 2 days or so as promised. Overall i had to give a 3 * due to the following issues: They did have excellent cleanup outside but the the roofers didnt warn or even cover the areas in my garage, and attic. There is still debris in areas of my garage considering they had to tear off down through wooden shingles. They did however apologize and attempting to clean out the garage, which i appreciated, I was informed that they dont clean out attics so therefore is still debris through the attic in sections where they had to replace shealthing. So now i have to get up there and clean it out if I want it taken care of. I was told that they were supposed putting back the gutter coverings on but they only reinstalled then halfway, they didnt even attempt to put them in correctly. I have several in my yard and some are hanging from the gutters. If I would have known this I would have put them in myself, They did a decent job on the roofing of the bay window also, which was nice it looks fairly decent now verse what it looked like before. I would recommend them - but if you have wooden shingles that they need to tear off, you might make sure they cover everything before thy start tearing into it, including garage and attic areas.

My experience with the roofers was much better than my experience with my insurance company. After a severe wind storm, the shingles required total replacement. After serious research and evaluation, I asked Appelhanz to give me an estimate. They did it within 2 days, then I had to wait over a week for my insurance company to tell me they wouldnt pay a thing for whatever reason they had. However, I felt the quote was quite reasonable and I selected the 50 year shingles (I believe it was a wise investment), even though I had to pay the entire amount myself. The job was scheduled within a week, completed in 1 day, cleanup was extremely comprehensive and completed immediately after the roof was finished. The company even called me a few days later to suggest I contact my insurance company to see if I could get a discount because of the shingle rating. I did and I did. Of course now Ill have to keep the insurance I have, but it is certainly saving me a few dollars. I have no complaints about the roofing job or the price.

Above and beyond awesome experience with Appelhanz roofing! First I had Brandon over to review what my inspector had found just to make sure it was all correct, Brandon had acutally found a lot more damage that the adjustor had missed! Adjustor came out and agreed with Brandon right away that she had missed it. Had it not been for Brandons excellent experience and working for the good of the customer, I would have been "out". Work was done in an expedient manner, all staff were courteous and polite and my property was exceptionally clean afterwards. Go with the local company Appelhanz Roofing, I am so glad my mom reccommended them to me! A+!

We had some storm damage a couple of years ago and needed a new roof. We asked our adjuster for a recommendation, and he said while they werent supposed to "officially" recommend anyone, if it was his roof he would hire Appelhanz. We were so glad we did! We got a beautiful new roof and guttering, the guys were friendly and completed the job fast! And, they were true professionals--they cleaned up the work site, went around getting all the nails and loose stuff out of the yard, swept the sidewalks, and went to great pains not to disturb the landscaping around the perimeter of the house. Would hire them again in a heartbeat!

Several years ago I had Appelhanz put a new roof on my house. This year I had them replace the roof on my detached garage as well as put up new gutters. Both times working with this company was very good. The employees (from the one who bids the job to the office people who answer the phone to the guys who actually install the roof) are very courteous and professional. Both times Appelhanz did the work in a timely manner, they were very good at cleaning up my yard, and the work they did was very high quality. I would recommend them if you need a roofing contractor.
