I am a former Employee of Cherokee Learning Center. I was let go after I had a disagreement with the new owner about her business practices, after five years of loyalty to the previous owner. I was expected to bring very young children into rooms with unsafe conditions. (For example: The director herself pouring bleach from a bottle on the floor to clean it with no ventilation, with five minutes before the room was opening.) Before the director had met any of the existing employees she had wrote an email stating her intention to slowly fire all the current staff, and she succeeded. If I had a copy of that email in my possession I would have brought legal action into the matter. This is a claim that can be substantiated with all employees at that time. Jessica, The Director, has no previous daycare experience and is unclear about standard practices. She has been quoted in saying the Business is the only thing that should come first, not the children or the parents needs they were just there for the funds. I know for a reputable source that many of the positive feed back on these sites are from the director herself trying to give her daycare a good name. I would strongly caution bringing your children here. It is a revolving door where the employees are not educated enough in child services or have enough integrity to care. You can say I am a bitter ex-employee if you may, which is fine, but i was fired over two years ago with out any interest in the center until i heard about some recent events and thought current enrollees should know. I also find it amusing that the poster on august 18th found it necessary to mention that she wasnt the owner completely confirming that she is.

I recently moved to this area and saw this location while checking out the Cherokee Shopping Center. I was actually considering checking them out for my 3 youngest. That is, until I went to rent a dolly through U-Haul and had to actually walk through the middle of this centers playground, full of playing children, to enter the U-Haul center. I can not believe that a childcare center would put children at risk like that. Not only at risk of injury, as they are playing while people are walking in and out trying to maneuver dollies and boxes through there. But the risk that comes from ANYBODY being able to have access to them and their playground. There could be child predators or anyone walking through there. While I get there are workers out there monitoring them, any parent/childcare worker knows that it only takes a split second for something to happen. I had heard and read many negative things about this center but was willing to check them out and form my own opinion. I didnt even have to step foot inside the center to do that. As a parent and someone who has been educated and worked in the Early Childhood field for several years, I would never send my child to any center that did not have a secure area for the children to play that was not open to the public.

I am an employee at the Walton location. I love my job and love the kids! We have a learning curriculum for each room incorporating fine and large motor skills, sensory, and lots of fun! All the teachers are extremely nice and passionate about what they do. I spend hours each night working on my lesson plans to make each childs day is special and hope that they learn as much as possible. We work on colors, numbers, letters, shapes, and sign language. I love this center! It is super clean. We clean during nap and then the rooms are cleaned again at night. During nap we clean the bathrooms in full, clean the sinks, door knobs, toys, and walls. In the evening it is repeated. I dont know where these people are coming from saying its dirty and there is no structure. I work extremely hard for my kids in my classroom and I know everyone there does for their room too.

This center is horrible. My child attended there for 9 months. She was sick the entire time she was there. 13 doctors visits in 9 months. She had everything from a MRSA infection to continous ear and sinus infections. We switched centers and she hasnt been sick once! There is NO structure or educational learning at all! They also have an issue with regards to ratio. Too many kids to one teacher. I wish we would have NEVER gone there. Avoid this center at all cost!......One more thing Ive never been employed let alone fired from this center or made leave because I failed to pay my bills as the director and her friends try to comment on the negative post on this site. I am truly a concerned Mom who would never want anyone elses child to go through what my daughter did!

My kids absolutely adore this place! Feels so good that in the first time in 4 years- my kids do not cry when i drop them off. Best experience I have ever had! it feels very warm and everyone is so welcoming when you walk in the door. i could not be a happier Mom knowing my kids are taken care of ! thank you!

This place is ridiculous! The staff is not good with the kids. The place is full of drama and there is constant gossip! Not a place for children to be! I know from first hand there were a few accidents that were not reported to the parents. I highly recommend somewhere else!!!
