No massage and rushed! I hate to give anything eco-friendly a bad review, but I feel like this place is all hype. First, I felt like everything was very rushed when I went to get my hair cut. Literally, the shampoo and conditioner were not even completely washed out of my hair (and the inside of my ears!) before I was hustled out of the chair. Second, the only thing eco-friendly about the place were the products used, and Ive been at numerous hair salons around Lexington that use the exact same products. Three, I was told on the phone a tea tree oil scalp massage was given with each hair cut, and I did not get the massage on the day of the appointment. There was never even a mention of it during the appointment. While I think the concept behind this place is great, the delivery is not. I would advise employees of The Hive to slow down, consider their customer service skills, and deliver on all aspects of the experience like the massage.

i was referred to this place by a friend, and instantly fell in love with the cool vibe of the salon. a lot of natural light and great colors, so youll feel at ease while getting pampered. carla is an excellent hair stylist and her prices are affordable. the hair color is gentle and ammonia free, so youll leave with a fresh do and no scalp burns! mayanna (spelling?!) is excellent as well. both are true to their word of being good at their craft. id trust both of these ladies with my hair, and i trust very few people to even touch a single strand. i cut 5.5" inches off the first time i visited carla, and ive been going shorter each time i get up in her stylist chair. great prices on hair products too! i recommend this salon to all of my friends. its local and eco-friendly. what more could you ask for?

Ive never had a better experience at a salon. Amber, my go-to gal, knows what she is doing. She will evaluate the texture of your hair, among other factors, and act accordingly. Shes very talented, and not one of those stylists who only know how to do one or two things. The vibe of the salon is phenomenal. Last time I was there, two of the sweetest dogs showed up for five minutes. They were so fluffy, too! These folks are all extremely flexible, care about their clients, and as a bonus are down to have a deep conversation if you feel so inclined. If I could give them a 6/5 I would.

So, I definitely got a scalp and shoulder massage before my hair cut. THAT was almost enough to win me over right there. Oh, and I love their lion of a cat. It was also nice to walk in to a salon and have them actually compliment my box color. :p My hairstylist (angela) was freaking great. Im new in town and she gave me some great ideas on what to do just outside of Lexington for weekend getaways/day trips. Oh, and my hair looks faaaaabulouuuus!

Friendly, fun, unique, hip, atmosphere with top notch stylist who are amazing at what they do. The products they use are fantastic! Amber Jackson has always done an amazing job on my hair, no matter what crazy cut or color I have requested. She always offers great suggestions and makes me feel and look like a million bucks. I trust no other salon or stylist!

Could you ask for a better vibe? The Hive has great atmosphere-very cool and funky. No worries about being downtown because they even have their own parking! Every time I ask a girl where she got her hair cut, the answer is always the same-The Hive! Trust me, if you want to stay in style, this is where you need to go!

The ladies of the Hive are WONDERFUL! I will never go anywhere else. They are always kind and inviting, and have many times saved me from getting the scissors or color box out myself! In addition, they have alot of fun and charitable events and great art exhibits at the salon so its always interesting to go there.

These ladies did a fantastic job for me and my bridal party. Both Carla and Mayanna were able to tailor updos to each individual, and they were a blast to hang out with the morning of the wedding. I couldnt imagine a better (aka more stress free) wedding hair experience!

I am a relatively new client of Carlas at The Hive and I just love it. (The scalp massage starter was all it took!) I love the atmosphere, my cut, and the philosophy of the salon. I have no complaints and plan to be a regular.

Im so glad I found this place! Myanna always gives me a great style every time (and I love the scalp massage)! Short hair can be hard to cut, but I always leave happy. And the price cant be beat! Highly recommended.

Miana is absolutely wonderful! Ive was her client for more than 4 years and I would recommend her to anyone. I wish they had a shop in NC! They are very cool, not at all stuck up, with great prices!

Had a great experience here, if you avoid salons because they remind you of the cheerleaders that werent so nice in high school or you were that cheerleader in high school; theyre the spot!
