This is rated on the school, as a school itself & what they do to the students paying to be there. 1. The school only turns the heating on when they have a customer coming in, which is hardly ever so all the Esthetician students sit in the back freezing all day. 2. They cant practice any treatments on each other on Friday and Saturdays even if the students use their own products from home, otherwise summit salon academy makes them pay for the service out of pocket! As if it was a customer coming in and getting the service. 3. You will get sent home to change if youre wearing anything with a hood, even if its all black, or have a bag that isnt clear. Even though its so cold in the school you need a coat on just to be in there. 4. You will be suspended for 5 days if youre caught with headphones(even though the school provided every student with a tablet that infact came with headphones) so now on Fridays & Mondays especially everyone in the Esthetician class has to sit and stare at each other since they cant practice anything on each other. & hardly any customers actually come in unless they are the students friends & family which the school have used its students free advertisement purposes to bring them in, to scrape even more money in from them. Or seen with your phone results in 5 day suspension & now they have said if your seen in school with a coat on you also get 5 day suspension. 5. The nail tech students pedicure baths are clogged often with the sewage and smell horrible, cant see how thats hygienic for people getting pedicures but the school doesnt seem to care. 6. The bathrooms are normally clogged and overflowing with toilet paper and other things, in that case students just have to hold it until They can get to their own bathroom I guess. 7. 2.5 of the Esthetics teachers have quit, 2 in the same week, then the only one left that actually cares about her students has switched to part time. So they have half a teacher left now basically, but I wouldnt even say that because the half teacher that is left has no idea whats really going on a lot of the time. Ms.Shaw is the only teacher left that actually wants her students to pass stateboard and cares about them. Shes now part time. The days shes not there students sit and do nothing all day. When shes there she actually trys to do what she can with what the school has provided, (which is basically a half full kit, with a child size manikin head inside it.) 8. Esthetician students dont even have a steamer to practice on. 9. Students were told & made to sign something during admissions that summit salon academy had a 100% pass rate for stateboard, this is completely false. Also during admissions each individual student is told the course suits their own interests just so the school can get them to sign up ASAP but the course will actually probably not pertain to anything they were told during admissions 10. During admissions students were told summit salon academy would help them find jobs, & would always be welcome back after they finish. Students are actually not allowed back after they have finished their hours due to stateboard rules yet summit salon academy lied about this & stated that was when you would be being helped to find a job. After you finish your hours. Lie. Basically the whole school is a lie everything they say is a lie. Its probably going to go bust within the next year or so, Leslie Joness personal prediction. 11. Not all the educators have passed the Esthetics State board.

My roommate made an appointment to get her hair cut and colored. I went along with her, and as a former student of a cosmetology school, I decided it would be nice for me to get my hair washed and styled while my roomy got her hair done. My intentions were simple and i dont think they were out of the ordinary at all. I asked if i could sit close to her so we could talk and i could see how the process is going while i got my hair done (i think this was a simple request any person would do if they went out with a friend to have there hair done). They had the learning leader come out and talk to me. I didnt think that, that was necessary considering the fact that i asked nicely and wasnt rude at all from the beginning of this whole situation. She explained to us how it worked and i understood everything and they decided to accommodate "the big move" since it was a huge deal. Mind you we showed up 15 minutes before her appointment it was now 25 MINUTES PAST HER APPOINTMENT TIME, and she has yet to be called to start the process. SOOOOO.....i then ask if it was okay if i could wait until my roommate started her process to start mine. The learning leader then looked me in my face, tilted her head, and with a smart ass voice said "what are you guys attached to the hip?" I stayed quite, and then said its fine i dont want any service. I would rather wait for her to be done and then leave. I was just done at this point. (We ended up waiting another 10 minutes, and then just left since we werent a VALUED CUSTOMER....p.s.s we were thinking about going to school there to further my career as a cosmetologist and start hers). I have never in my 23 years of life been so disrespected. We both were just in shock of how bad the instructor handled it. I really should have said some hateful things to her, but my mother raised me well, and i bit my tongue. Moral of the story is....I will no longer have summit as a school option for me at all. If she talks to costumers that way imagine how she treats her students....And I probably will never step foot there again.

I would not recommend this school to anyone. Not for the simple fact I dont like it, but the simple fact that they are very unprofessional. As you can see in the comments below- Teachers are not qualified to be instructors. They will stay on their phones and you will learn a lot from YOUTUBE. YOUTUBE will cost you $15,000 less. The school is run down, it looks very updated, but it is all cosmetic and not internal. It smells awful, because the pedi chairs are not cleaned properly. Rules are not the same rules that apply to every student. You will be treated differently. If you have a complaint, going to the Academy Director will do no good, she will brush it off. If you take it to the State, then Summit will find every way they can to drop you from the program you are attending. The staff turnover is unreal, there are new Instructors every few Months and some are as new as you are. Sometimes it can be very ghetto as much as having a gun pulled on you. (I know right) You will be cheated on your Supply Kits. The financial aid aspect is a nightmare, The charge for the supply Kits are also increased 3-5%, which is against State guidelines. Most of the positive comments on here are from students friends and family, Instructors that work there or friends of the owners. This school is not caring about the students and education, it is about appearances, keeping up with the high society (which it lacks). Save your money for a school like Barrett and Co who values your education and worth.
