Capt Nicolai is an expert on Lobsters and is often called to lecture all over the world. His subtle sense of humor keeps everyone on their toes. He gave a detailed description of lobster anatomy after hauling up two fine specimens from a lobster trap. There wasnt a question about lobsters that he couldnt answer. My question was about the Tomalley or green junk that runs out of the lobsters carapace or thorax when you manage to gain access to the critter. It is considered a delicacy by some, but disgusting to me. I also learned that the tail is actually the lobsters abdomen not tail but Capt. Nicolai said you probably wouldnt get far asking for a lobster abdomen. You will learn a lot about lobsters, view Egg Harbor Lighthouse, many seals, Cadillac Mtn. and the beautiful shoreline. There were several magnificent cruise ships in port that day as well. One was the MS Brilliance of the Sea which was dazzling.

Shawn and Grey did a fabulous job explaining all about lobsters! Its a 2 hour trip and very interactive. During the first part we went out to the lighthouse where the seals and sea gulls bask in the sun. While there we also saw an eagle. The second hour was spent pulling in lobster traps and our education on lobsters. Grey explained a lot about lobsters and we all got to hold a lobster if we wanted to. They put rubber bands on the claws so it is safe to hold them. We were there in July and I just found my note about writing a review because we thought it was a terrific lobster tour. My family would really recommend this tour while in Bar Harbor! Hope you get to go!!

The staff were fine and the boat comfortable. There was a South wind blowing up the bay and it was choppy, with small swells. It was just past low tide, so we expected great deal disability. The boat course took us near potential seal basking areas, but the surf was pounding the area. There should be a plan b when nature dictates a course change. The lobsterwoman docent, was unable to be heard from the stern and frankly, should cut her routine in half. We enjoyed the scenery immensely, but not much else.

Great lobster boat tour, got to see a variety of sea life including porpoises, harbor seals, eagles, and of course lobsters. Very informative staff who know a lot about the area, lobsters and lobster fishing. It was also interactive as everybody got the opportunity, if you wanted, to hold a live lobster. Also, all lobsters caught on this boat are released so its great for everybody. Only down side is it is a little pricey, wish they offered a family package.

This was a great way to learn about Bar Harbors life beyond its tourist industry. Our guide was a girl who has spent many years visiting and then living on Little Cranberry. She was able to talk about lobstering, birds, seals, and the history of Bar Harbor much like a local. We couldnt have chosen a better afternoon activity.

We had a great day on Lulu with Captain John. His tails about lobster fishing and the local history were very entertaining and seeing how lobsters are caught was really fun to watch. We also saw baby seals, only a few days old which was a bonus! I would highly recommend Lulus lobster tours.

This was a fun very reasonably priced trip. The staff was knowledge and fun to be with. Beware, you will get wet! And if there is any possibility that you get motion sickness, take something before you depart. The ride can get rough. Had a blast on this trip.

Wonderful and informational tour. Smaller boat so not so many people. We saw many harbor seals and watched as the captain hauled in lobster traps. Got up close views of both lobster and crab.
