I cant even review the services because I never actually GOT any services. I called to make an appointment, and received the automated answering service with a "press 1" to schedule an appointment. So I pressed 1. I was then put into a mailbox to leave a message. Not a good first impression for a potential new client -- as a new client, I like to speak to a human who is going to be doing body work on me. So, I waited about 20 minutes and called back. Again, automated answer. I should have known then. But I gave it one more try, third time was the charm and I scheduled a brow wax for 2 pm. I arrived and had to drive around to even find parking, forget about any close parking. So I walked through the snow and slush. I was about 5-10 minutes early, intentionally, in case I had to fill out some paperwork as a new client. No paperwork and I was taken back to the spa area. That was the last time I saw anybody -- except for the pedicurist who opened her door into the reception area so I could hear her entire conversation and watch someones toes be worked on. Fifteen minutes past my appointment time with no acknowledgment that I was even there, let alone that my aesthetician was running late, I walked out. To the front desk, where I foolishly stopped to try to give them one last chance. The woman working the desk had picked up the phone but not dialed yet and said to me very snidely, "Ill be right with you." I told her not to bother as no one else felt they needed to help me and I walked out. No one tried to stop me and I received no phone call. Again, foolish me, I actually thought they might reach out to me. Not so much. So, I called to speak with the client relations manager, who funny enough, was "just getting ready to call me" -- sure, I believe that. She told me "this is not how we run our business and wed like to make it right." I chose NOT to take her up on her offer. Given my negative impression from even before I walked through their doors, let alone once I was in their spa, their idea of what is "right" is a bit unnerving. So, if you are lucky enough to get through on the phone and speak to a human, and find parking, and actually have your service provider honor your appointment, then good luck -- I hope whatever you have done works for you. As for me, Ill find a salon that actually wants new business.

Love love love this place! The front desk staff is always friendly and helpful, and I am so happy to have found Jennifer Woods. I moved to Florida 2 years ago, and I still go back to David Alexander to get my hair cut by Jennifer whenever I go back home to MD. She listens and does exactly what I want and it is always an enjoyable experience! As for the person who complained about the cash tipping policy, the reason is probably because businesses get charged about 3% for every credit card transaction from their merchant companies. When everyone tips on a credit card, and the tip goes directly to the service provider, the business eats the 3% on the amount of the tip. That can really add up. Ever notice how some gas stations charge less per gallon when you pay cash? Same concept. Definitely not a good reason to give the salon a bad review!

Horrific I went here for a color and a cut. I was here from 9:30 am and never got out until 3 pm. I kept hearing how wonderful Alexander was going to make me look. Starting with a 70$ consult fee at the end that no one told me about. ( what stylist doesnt sit with you a Minute and ask what you want? Well Alexander charges for that, 70$ to be exact. Upon complaint it was reversed) by the time the owner added all his pricing for how wonderful I was going to look, from a shampoo treatment $$$ to coloring the bill ended up being 570$ when I was told 235$ over the phone ( or something very close to that price I cant remember now) My hair looked good, but his trickery in adding to the bill for just a wash color and cut was very deceiving.

As a curly girl, finding a stylist that can cut my hair without turning me into Bozo the Clown is a real challenge. Scott has been cutting my hair for almost 15 years now. I used to fly thousands of miles to sit in his chair. I was delighted when he took ownership of this salon and spa. I have never once had a bad experience and my hair always looks great. He cuts my husbands hair and several members of my familys hair as well. Scott is brilliant at color as well. The staff is always courteous and friendly. Also, the salon now uses email appointments and confirmations, which are just brilliant. I have a hard time making calls during working hours, so having this option really helps me.

I have gone to this salon for years. Last summer they decided to move to cash only tipping. So you have to remember to bring cash or use the ATM in their salon (and pay a fee on top of your bank fee) to tip their staff. In a time where credit card and debit card usage is considered the norm it is unfortunate they are making it difficult to patron their establishment. The staff has said it actually saves the salon money and is not benefical to the staff. The staff has said they are seeing a negative impact on their gratuity. Such a shame and I know several people shopping for a new salon in town. It is like they took 5 steps back in keeping up with technology.

I used to only get my hair cut at those cheap mall salons, not wanting to pay a higher price for something "as simple" as a haircut. After getting fed up with the poor customer service at those places, I caved and made an appt at this salon. That was a few years ago, and Ill never go anywhere else again. In addition to a talented staff, the customer service at David Alexander is top notch. I am always treated in a way that shows me they value my business. I am greeted by name upon arrival and when leaving. Its those little things that most businesses dont take the time to do that keep me coming back to this salon. I highly recommend it.

I got a massage here once, and the experience was great. No complaints at all on that aspect; however, Ive gotten multiple text messages confirming additional appointments that I never made. I called multiple times to find out why my number is being used and to make sure I dont have appointments scheduled. I finally called and asked to have my number completely removed from their system. The lady very briefly said "ok, sorry about that" and hung up on me. Could not believe the absolutely awful service I received. This is a request that businesses are required to comply with and outrageous that it was handled in that manner.

I had a massage this past week and it was a good massage but the lady talked to me the whole time so I found it a bit difficult to really relax. I could see if I was getting my hair done but, when your paying 100 and something dollars I feel like you should really get your moneys worth. I still left a great tip because the lady was very nice i just wish I would have gotten more of a massage then a lecture. Another thing that turned me off the receptionists were all young and somewhat rude. I tried to make friendly conversation and just received blank stares in return. overall id say its not worth the expense.
