One of the guys from work tried to get me to join Crazy 88. He told me how it completely changed his life. He told me about days when he would be in classes for hours, how much weight he lost, and how fun it was. I thought he was nuts, but maybe so was I. After nearly 3 years of him telling me to join I decided to try it. I set up an appointment and dragged my wife and her brother to the Elkridge location for orientation and our first class. It was fun. It was a work out. I used muscles I didnt know I had. Afterward we sat and talked to the coach, toured the facilities, and of course talked about the trial membership. There was no pressure to sign up, just an invitation to enjoy 30 free days of jiu jitsu. I wont say we signed up the first day. We were skeptical, and aside from the guy who brought us we knew no one. But believe me when I say that this is the best environment for exercising and learning I have ever experienced. I can not stress enough how friendly everyone is. They understand that not everyone is there to be a professional competitor, and we all have our own goals. Personally Im there to have fun and learn, but mostly so that I dont feel guilty about eating what I love. Were the classes hard? Yes, we were all out of shape, and I had put on 70 lbs since I last played any sports. But the classes are always fun and youre always learning something. Did we feel out of place? No, the coaches are helpful, and excited about what they are teaching. Again they dont care if you are there hoping to compete, or just to lose weight. Did we sign up? Of course. It turns out when youre having fun and working hard it stops being exercise. After week 2 we had already decided it was happening and purchased proper gis to really train.

Do not sign anything with this business! My husband signed a contract for a family plan and it worked out fine enough until our family lifestyle changed. Hes active duty military and went to shift work so he wasnt getting his moneys worth anymore. In addition our children had wanted to move on to another activity. When he explained this to the business they pressured him to put a hold on the contract, which he did. After a few months we decided that we should just cancel the membership. My husband went in, paid the cancellation fees and we thought it was done. After OVER A YEAR we get papers served for over $8,000 in missed payments and over $1,000 in legal fees. Thankfully, we keep everything so we were able to pull the cancellation paperwork. The business does payments online so we printed out that there was a ZERO balance. We also printed out our credit reports and showed the business had not filed any late payment paperwork to the credit bureaus. My husband went straight to JAG with all this paperwork, was assigned a lawyer, and after a month of anxiety the case was dismissed. Here is what I dont understand, how is a business going to sue someone for payment without notifying them that there is a missed payment? Why would a business wait over a year to sue someone? Im not going to accuse, but look up the term "zombie debt," it seems fitting. I would strongly recommend finding another business that does not require contracts.

I have been training jiu jitsu for about 4 and a half years. For me jiu jitsu has been truly life changing. In my first year of training I lost 60lbs. I had never done anything athletic before and the atmosphere created by the instructors really made me feel comfortable. They pushed me just hard enough so that I achieved my goals without feeling like I was being yelled at. I started jiu jitsu at Crazy 88 in Elkridge and have recently started training and helping out with classes at the Owings Mills location. The atmosphere in OM is great. It is friendly and inviting while still maintaining the solid teaching ethic that made the Elkridge school so successful. I spend my days plowing the cubicle fields right down the street from Crazy 88 OM which makes it very convenient for me to come in after work. Coach Jon is super passionate about teaching and cultivating his students and school. I am really happy to be training here and have made many new friends. Since this is a new school with a couple of us old timers mixed in, there is a really good variety of skill levels in the room. New people coming in have many other new people to train with and several more experienced people to receive guidance from. Whether you are looking to try something new or continue your training, Crazy 88 OM is a great place to be.

Ive been a student at Crazy 88 for over 6 years. When I started, we were in a small practice space that doubled as a furnace. I have watched this school grow and prosper into what it is now- the premier martial arts academy in the Baltimore area. Coming up over the years, Ive seen teenagers turn into World Champion athletes, normal everyday people get into the best shape of their lives, and I watched a guy nicknamed "The Devastator" follow all of his dreams to find success everywhere he goes. Ive been a long time fan of Jon Delbrugge. His work ethic is truly inspiring, but the greatest part is that he loves doing what hes doing. Jon opened up his own academy in Owings Mills and he has created a wonderful place to train. His academy is very friendly and clean. Everyone there makes me feel like weve been friends forever. Attending class feels welcoming- just like youre at your buddys house. Jon teaches everything he knows and is genuinely interested in all of us and our own personal goals. Whatever your goals are- whether you just want to work out from time to time, want to get into amazing shape, or want to try your hand at competing, you will be welcomed!

I have been a part of Crazy 88 Owings Mills since the beginning and I LOVE IT! My husbands friend invited us to try out Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the Crazy 88 facility in Elkridge. I will preface that before training here, I have had absolutely NO experience in wrestling or contact sport of any kind, so the whole thing was pretty intimidating. I figured I would try it out and say thanks but no thanks, probably run away before my 30 day trial was over. Fortunately, everyone was very friendly and introduced BJJ to me in a very tame fashion. We had a LOT of fun the first day, so we signed up right away, especially because they were about to open the Owings Mills branch, which is 2 miles from home. Since then, I have learned a lot about BJJ and Muay Thai, found a lot of muscles I never knew could exist on my body, and am in the best shape of my life! I think the best part of training in Crazy 88 is that I am exercising and losing weight in a fun and interactive environment, and not attempting to run 5 miles on a treadmill dying of boredom and barely burning any calories.

Day one I trainned and I was hooked. Coach Connelly signed me up and havent looked back. I would join gyms and never would quite stick with it because of my work schedule. Everybody works together to achieve the same goal of excellence. There are no ego trips its a family enviornment where everyone is mutally happy for your growth within your training. The trainners are patient and very encouraging. Its a family vibe with other students who motivate you along the way. You see the drive and the hunger in your peers eyes and it makes you strive and push hardier to become great. Its an experience unlike any other. I would recommend this to anyone trying to get in shape, wants to learn self defense, or just wants to be active around a fun loving environment. I foresee the next local ufc fighters coming out of this bunch. Come on out and check it out the first 30 days are on them and you have nothing to lose but negativity. Its awesome.
