To be fair Im going to compare this gym to Brick Bodies, which I was a member of for years. This could be a great gym, but the staff is inexperienced and at times unprofessional. Brick Bodies staff were amazing and I always asked myself from were they got those really happy and professional people. Ive tried twice to speak to a supervisor and was unable to speak to him. Whenever I tried to speak to a a supervisor at Brick Bodies the front desk person immediately went to get one and if it took more than a couple of minutes, they would come back to apologize and keep looking. A couple of times they were unable to find one and took my name and number and called me a few hours later. At LA Fitness, I called to speak to the manager and the person on the phone became a bit combative asking the reason I was calling and eventually took my number but no one ever called. At Brick Bodies they wait for you to finish your workout and actually come to every person in the gym close to closing and say dont feel rushed we are closing for the day but feel free to finish your workout we will be here cleaning for up to a half hour longer after closing. At LA Fitness, they turn down the lights with 5-10 minutes before closing and you essentially hear a countdown to closing. At LA Fitness I noticed a ton of highschool aged kids at the basketball court. I wondered if they all actually had memberships, so one day I watched them getting let in by the staff without scanning their badges. I dont play ball, but it still bothered me. At Brick Bodies, they have complimentary towel service, but none at LA Fitness.. I have to admit that the gym overall is a bit nicer at LA Fitness, but we will see if this keeps up over time. It would be ideal if I could get Brick Bodies customer service with LA fitness equipment and location. This LA Fitness is not bad, but it could be much better if they just tighten up on the scanning of badges to keep the rifraf out and if the manager pays more attention to the customer service of his employees.

When I signed up I was told I had 7 days to cancel. I tried a class there and didnt like it and decided to cancel within the 7 day timeframe. First, I called and tried to cancel and the person on the phone said I had to come in to the gym to cancel, when I got to the gym, the young man at the front desk said that Sam is the manager and is in charge of cancelling and that he wasnt there that day, I gave him a look and he told me to hold on, got Barry (who helped me sign up initially) who told me that Sam was around somewhere and hed go and find him :(. After waiting about 15 minutes, Sam came up and cancelled my membership at which point, he told me to contact them again today on Thursday (that was on Tuesday) to make sure that it is cancelled :(. He kept on mentioning that I was past the timeframe to cancel and I said no they told me I could cancel in 7 days. Needless to say, a trainer contacted me yesterday (on Wednesday) asking when I was coming in for my assessment. I told the trainer that I cancelled because the one group class that I was interested in I took on Saturday and didnt like, he then informed me that he didnt see where my account had been cancelled and he also let me know that within the state of Maryland I have to cancel within 3 days :(. So, if you sign up with this gym please know that you only have 3 days to cancel if you choose to do so and not 7 regardless of what is said when youre signing up for the membership.

Ive been working out for three years and been to lots of gyms. This particular LA Fitness beats having to go to Planet Fitness, which is the worst gym in the world in my opinion. This is a nice gym however there are a few exceptions; 1) the hours totally suck 2) there are male employees who stare at my wife the whole time shes there. Its the same ones every time and while they think theyre being slick, its totally creepy and totally obvious. 3) there are male members who constantly go out if their way to try and strike up conversations with my wife, giverher workout tips when she didnt ask, compliment her while she has her head phones in and is trying to workout. Also creepy and uncalled for. Now Im a guy so nobody is checking me out so I dont have this issue lol 4) it gets insanely full between the busy hours. More full than any other gym Ive ever belonged too before. And there are more than enough members who treat it like a social club so theyre just taking up space unnecessarily. But overall the other gym options in the area are no where near as good as this one. So until they open a lifetime Fitness nearby, Ill keep paying my fees and going

I originally signed up for the multi club membership at Lansdowne. After a few days, I found out about the LA fitness in Owings Mill, which is a little bit further, but I came to visit and see how it compares to the one in Lansdowne. This gym is sooo much cleaner, have more 4 times more dumbbells than the one in Lansdownes, and I just feel way more comfortable here.I used to work out at Planet Fitness and my school gym. This gym has pretty much everything that I need, and I really love how its never crowded. Im going to be selfish and hope they dont get too crowded in the future. If the manager ever reads this, theres 2 things that I think they should add. 1. Add 1 or 2 Extra 45 pound barbells. A lot of times when someone need a barbell for deadlift or whatever exercises, they take it from the bench rack, leaving those benches without a barbell. 2. Add some 45 pound Bumper plates for deadlifts. My school gym added them last year, and those works so much better for deadlifts.. It makes the exercise so much easier and it prevents the weights from being slammed down, causing damage to both the plates and the floor.

Im not a big fan of the atmosphere. It seems more like a social gathering than a fitness center. The staff is young and immature . No professionalism. The place is not cleaned like it should be. People sit and talk at equipment instead of using it. I dont like that that you can see into the pool from outside just as well as inside the gym. The windows should be tented to be able to see from inside the pool to out like Brick Bodies pool. Also they have no world pool. If your on the treadmill or elliptical upstairs and need to go to the restroom in the middle of your run you have to go all the way downstairs because there is no restroom upstairs. I guess you get what you pay for. Im glad I never canceled my membership to Brick Bodies

I have had a great experience since day one. Berry showed me the gym before it was even opened and explained everything about the new facility. He was very friendly and keeps that way every time he sees me at the gym. In the end of December, I met with Dion Davis to check the Personal Trainer plans that LA Fitness offers. He also was (is) really friendly and professional. All the team of Trainers are very professional and they are always ready to help you out. It has been worth the cost for a personal because I can clearly see the results. The whole facility is great, new equipment, always clean, new restroom. What they need now is more Yoga classes during the weekend.
