A Manuela Cleaning Services supervisor came to our home to go over a cleaning plan. The supervisor assured me that there would be someone to supervise and go over two employees work once they were done. After giving a tour of our empty home, my wife and I agreed to a move in-clean (top to bottom) and window cleaning for $320. We scheduled a cleaning for Tuesday, May 9th between Noon and 12:30. On that day, two employees arrived around 1:15pm. One employee (the driver) was on the phone since the time she drove up to the time she left, which was at 4pm. During the time the driver was at our home, she was cleaning with one hand while on the phone with the other. When my wife informed Manuela, the employee left with the car without our knowledge. The other employee informed us that she had to pick up her son from school. The driver never returned, which left her coworker to work for 3 more hours by herself. When the employee informed my wife she was done, it came apparent that the work was not done and the employee was left without a ride home. By that time it was around 7pm. My wife had to stay with her for over an hour attempting to contact someone, including Manuela, to come pick her up. During that time my wife had to order food for herself and the employee. I had already left for work at 3pm and my wife had gone to our home to relieve me after she left work early. Eventually, the employees son came to pick her up around 8pm. No one from the company came to supervise or go over the cleaning as promised. Services that were not done or cleaned from what my wife supervised were: • All baseboards. • All 4 basement windows. • Basement and porch were not vacuumed. • The floors were not swept or mopped except for 1 bathroom floor. (Manuela claims the floors were cleaned, but wouldnt know since no one came to go over the work). • Nothing was dusted. • Fireplace and mantel. We believed Manuelas employee informed Manuela of what was cleaned, so we waited for Manuela to contact us. She contacted us on May 26th with an invoice asking for $320 due on the same day. We gave her the same list of items above that werent cleaned and she only brought the price down to $250. Considering more than half the work wasnt done, we informed her we wouldnt be paying more than $160, which we believe is more than reasonable, to which she threatned she would send the $250 to collection if we didnt pay that amount. My wife and I were moving in 2 days later and had to finish the cleaning that wasnt done and even go over the work that was done on the day of the move-in. We ended up doing a better job and regret not doing it ourselves from the beginning. My wife and I didnt want them rectifying the issue by returning to our home to provide the same inadequate and unprofessional cleaning they had provided before. Nor did we have the time since my wife and I were working and were moving in 2 days later. We plan on filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
