Worst “investment” toward R & D I have made this decade. I wanted to believe that a 3D printer could make aluminum strength prints by reinforcing it with carbon fiber. This should be great for prototypes, and for making fixtures for our 5 axis DMG Mori CNC I thought. But, Mastercam is replaced by the considerably less capable Eigor, and the CNC machine is not replaced at all. The parts that came out of the Markforged printer missed everywhere they could, but here are the three worst: 1) Part tolerance were generally +/- .120”. You read that right, nothing close to the stated spec. Our engineers and designers tried and tried to get it out right, and not one thinks that is possible now. 2) Part finishes were not finished. After we had to machine the critical tolerance areas that printed out of spec, we would have to sand outside surfaces by hand. We got surfaces like they did only with lots of manual labor. 3) Customer services primary response: you did it wrong. Even when they tried a multi day print of one of our parts, when the flat surface came out round, it was somehow our fault. They replaced the print head, then the fiber, somehow nothing worked. I don’t trust their website. I don’t believe their specs. Unfortunately I can’t confirm or deny how strong the print was. With a month of trying, we did not get one useable part. I am trying to work through the problems with Markforged, and will update this review when/if my opinion changes. Till then I have a very bad opinion of the dream of carbon fiber printing and Markforged and the Mark One and two printer.

Awesome product, great people, fun, creative, technical, exciting company! They have demonstrated to be a disruptor in the 3D print market and all indications are they wont stop while becoming a true leader in the FDM world. Im a costumer and own a Markforged 2. The printer is easy to use and the software is all on the cloud. They are very responsive to customer feedback, requests, and enhancements. I cant wait to see what this company will create tomorrow and for the future!

As a nylon printer, Markforged products have always impressed me with the quality and elegance of their printer platform. As a industrial 3D printer, with the specialized ability to add short strand and continuous fibers such as carbon, Kevlar and HT Fiberglass to 3D printed parts, there really is nothing else like it. This is a must for any fabrication shop interested in strength, flexibility, and high heat deflection in their function 3D printed parts.

On the rare occasion that an issue does arise, Markforged customer service has always been quick to respond and proven very helpful. Very easy to use and reliable. I have run over 200 prints on the Mark 2, and had very few fail. Amazing surface quality. I spend almost no time post processing parts. The Eiger software is very intuitive and easy to use. Quick responses from their support thus far.
