My bank is in Lexington Center and I noticed Blue and decided to make an appointment. I arrived the next day and was completely overwhelmed by the amount of staff buzzing around. I was met 10 minutes after my scheduled time by a very nice women and she introduced herself and brought me to my chair. This is when I started sweating. I was jammed between two other customers and directly behind me--I mean three feet-- was some training session with four stylists. So within a six foot radius there were eleven people. I guess this is all okay, but I felt very crowded and uncomfortable. Once I was situated in the chair, the stylist asked what I wanted for a hair style. I am a guy and not too detailed about my hair-same haircut for 10 years--so i explained my instructions-"Trim here, cut there and I will be all set". Okay great, now we know I need a haircut and the stylist explains to me that she now needs to produce a "quote". A "quote" I say with confusion and she explains just so there are no surprises and then disappears. She comes back 2mins later with a hand written quote for $49.00 and asks is I am okay with this. I didn’t know what to do and explained that this is quite a sum for a hair cut. She explains that they were highly trained in New York and this is the reason for the high pricing. She says hold on one second and disappears to talk to her manager. At this point I felt like I was at a car dealer and my new pricing was coming from the sales manager. I decided that this was not the place for my hair cut. I cannot rate the style service, but I can rate that I felt crowded in the chair, the place was a loud and chaotic place, and in the end felt like they would get every penny from my pocket if I would pay them...

Ive been meaning to sit down and write this review for months, but I think that it even more powerful now that Ive witnessed all stages of the cut. I am not the typical Blue customer- I usually spend about 20 bucks on a haircut and have had the same hair "style" since high school. I had no idea what I was in for when I won a gift certificate to Blue. As others have said, they treat their clients extremely well and the stylists work as a team which was fascinating to watch. Paula really styled my hair to fit my head and hair and it was radically different from any type of haircut I had had before. They cut more hair that I had expected and Im completely embarrassed to say that I absolutely freaked out about it initially. It was such a new way of thinking about my hair that I wasnt prepared and gave poor Paula the full force of a mini midlife crises. I include this mortifying detail because what happened next speaks to the integrity and professionalism of the salon. They immediately contacted me via phone and email, scheduled an appointment to show me how to style it, and gave me the tools to do it. Long story short, I LOVE this haircut. Because each of Paulas styles are specific to the client, she was able to cut my hair in a way that freed me from hairdryers and hot rollers- an amazing time saver. She told me that the cut would grow out beautifully and she was correct- I still get compliments on it months later. So if you are looking for a place with the vision and skill to bring out your best hair, this is a great place to turn. I just wish Id had Paula cut my hair decades ago!

Ive been there twice and had a VERY different experience each time. The first time I went I was paired with Stephanie. She was AWESOME, the cut was absolutely perfect, but the cut alone was $90 (no color, no special conditioning, etc). Ouch. I went back hoping for the same great cut, but was paired with Melissa. I was happy when she said her cuts were $45, but I would have gladly paid a lot more to be able to go back and fix it. My "Victoria Beckham" cut was nothing even close. The top layer was long and the middle of the back was just plain gone. It was one of those cuts where you go home and cry.

I have male pattern baldness in the front. I have been struggling for a while to find a stylist who is good at managing this problem. Tanya Rose has been excellent at helping me with this situation. Both Blue and Tanya have always made my visits always pleasurable and convenient. I high recommend Blue and Tanya Rose for anyone who is looking for a great experience at a salon Dr. John Pallotta DMD

I love blue!!!!! Six years ago I left a famous hair salon in Newton. At that time I wanted a great cut and color at a much lower price. There are no deals in the salon world. I found that out the hard way. I love my four week visit. They take my coat and give me a cup of tea and a dish of candy. I know in two hours I will look great!!!! Thanks Blue I Love You Terry
