My wife and I were referred to Marathon Movers by our son and daughter-in-law who had used them a little over a year ago after interviewing a number of different companies. As anyone who has moved can attest, the process is certainly stressfull enough without having to worry about whether your furniture or property is going to get damaged in the course of the move. With the aforementioned concerns, we scheduled an appointment for an estimate with Marathon Movers and met with their representative, Kathy Keane. She patiently explained just how the process would work and how the furniture would be prepared and protected for the move. She further informed us that their movers could either pack our smaller belongings for us or we could do it ourselves. In the course of the meeting she made numerous recommendations that ultimately proved to be right on the mark. In addition, she offered us boxes, packing paper and tape if we stopped by their warehouse. When she left our house, so did a lot of the anxiety that we were experiencing regarding our move. She had not only answered all of our concerns, but called attention to a number of things that we hadnt even thought of and provided solutions for them. When our moving crew showed up - as scheduled and on time - the foreman, Mike, walked through the house with us and went over everything. They put down protection on the floors and then went to work. In summary, the whole process proved to be uneventfull. Our furniture and belongings were handled in a professional manner and not one item was damaged in the process. The final price was exactly as Kathy Keane had quoted. No extra fees or hidden charges. My wife thought one of the best services that they offer is that you dont have to take anything out of your closets. They take your clothing, on hangers, and put them in the equivalent of sealed portable closets and then place them right into the closets of your new home. As a consumer, Im not bashfull about complaining when things dont go according to plan or as promised, but I think its equally important to acknowledge good customer service and professional work. We were impressed with this company and I would encourage anyone that is planning a move to contact them.

I have moved often and have had many successful moves, but no company has been as terrific as Marathon. This was a really complicated move, with all my stuff going into storage for a few months, then being delivered to two different addresses in two different states, and making two additional stops along the way to pick up more things going to the final destination. There were so many possible places for errors, and all went perfectly. I had them pack a pottery collection of over 100 pieces and many framed paintings, and OMG everything arrived perfectly. When I realized I had some furniture in their storage facility that I wasnt going to be able to fit in my new place, they took it out and donated it to a local charity for me, delivering it at no extra charge. The movers were all permanent staff, not pick-ups, well trained, and incredibly professional. The same person who led the moving team on the front end, moving into storage, led the team on the back end, moving into my new place. Every single person I dealt with was professional, on top of the details, considerate, and definitely prepared to do all kinds of extras to make sure everything went smoothly. I had used a different mover for my last three moves and gave Marathon a try because a friend recommended them so highly. They were better and even lower cost than my former "high end" mover. And when my daughter, who lives in another state, needed a mover, Marathon recommended one of their affiliates near her, and they were great and she had her best move ever. Marathon is just fabulous - and I am very picky!

This was my second time moving with Marathon. The first time was an interstate move to MA, and the crew packed and moved our 2br so carefully and professionally that there was no question who to call this time. The office staff were incredibly helpful and professional both times - they were very easy to deal with, and all our communications were very clear. The move itself was generally very good - this time they packed our kitchen, which they did very well (not one single broken item, exactly as we expected from our last experience) - however they hadnt taken into account the steep gradient and narrowness of the street at our new home and over half an hour of the billable time was taken up with moving items from the large truck to a smaller truck that would be easier to maneuver on our street. The crew was generally professional - the two Boston based guys very much so, the two from New Hampshire a little less - and I especially appreciated the multiple attempts primarily of the Boston based crew to try to get a large sofa up very narrow stairs. Unfortunately that didnt make it, but their efforts were valiant. I would like to give them 5 stars again but unfortunately given that this was an in-town move and in many ways simpler than the previous move I really did expect the same or higher level of professionalism as last time. They are still a very fine company and I wont hesitate to call them again. Just wanted to point out these small ways in which our experience could have been better.

I would highly recommend Marathon Movers. Great jod from the 1st time dealing with Lillian for a quote to the truck pulling away. Right from the start was great. Lillian was alway very fast to answer my email for the quote and any question I had. Then when I spoke with her on the phone. She was even better and even more helpful. Its so good to have the 1st contact being so helpful. Told the truck would be at my house between 7:30 and 8:30. It was there at 8. The three guys(sorry I forgot names) that came were also great. After seeing what was being moved. They came in and didnt stop until they had everything wrapped up and in the truck. They wrap everything including couch cushions and lay out runners on the floor so there is no damage to floors. Then walked around with me to make sure what wanted moved was moved. Exact same thing moving things in. Ask where its all going and didnt stop until they were done. Then walked around with us to make sure it was where we wanted things to be. Made a great ending to a very long process of selling and moving from a home. So happy we went with them

We used Marathon to move our family of 4 from West Roxbury to Cohasset. With two children under the age of 3, we were a little nervous about the whole process. However, the Marathon team did a fantastic job helping us prepare for the move, packing up our house, loading the truck and delivering a few days later. As we are now completely unpacked, I can say no items were broken or lost as part of the move. The same crew packed and delivered our possessions, which helped with boxes being placed in the right rooms and getting the furniture put back together. The crew was extremely professional and friendly despite the heat wave they had to contend with. All appointments were on schedule and the office staff did a great job responding to any questions and scheduling everything. Would highly recommend Marathon to anyone moving local or long distance, especially those who need some help packing up their house. Thank you for everything!
