Murphys Funeral Home is THE most disrespectful institution I have ever had the misfortune to deal with. Simply appalling. My father committed suicide on June 7, 2017. As I am currently out of state, I signed over a release for his body to be received by Murphys. After finances had been settled by other family members, the consent was in place for me to receive my fathers ashes. Ive been calling and getting bounced around to Pam, Bob, John and Frank. No one gives me a straightforward answer. Theyre all "unavailable at the moment" or "out of the building right now" or "Im not the one handling it" or "I have to meet with a family right now. I cant talk to you". Ive left messages and absolutely nothing. Its been six weeks tomorrow since my fathers death. About five weeks since Murphys took possession of his body. I called again today. I was told Bob wasnt available to follow up with me. Shortly thereafter, *****I RECEIVED AN EMAIL FROM MURPHYS FUNERAL HOME SAYING THAT MY "FATHERS REMAINS ARE WITH THE US POSTAL SERVICE AND SHOULD BE HERE BY TOMORROW".*****Along with...an INVALID TRACKING INFORMATION ATTACHMENT. How absolutely appalling! THAT is how they treat the family members of a deceased??? That is just shocking. The lack of compassion and such an IMPERSONAL TOUCH as to sending an EMAIL to someone saying that they dropped their fathers remains in the mail? Ive never been treated so poorly in my entire life. And at such a difficult time such as the death of a loved one? Im outraged.

Not one bit impressed with their customer service. After emailing Murphys my grandmothers obituary, we never received a response. Wasnt even sure if they had got the email or not. We had to call them to find out they had already published it, in yesterdays papers! Not only were we denied the chance to confirm the charges we were billed for (one of the papers was close to $1000, you would think someone would ask if that was okay first), but we werent able to purchase the paper since we werent told when it would be published! The whole point of using a funeral home to publish an obituary is to make a difficult time easier on the family, but Murphys has done the opposite by causing my grieving mother and grandfather more headaches.

When my father passed away last year, Murphys walked me through the process and handled every detail with care. Brenden, Bob and Frank were professional and responsive and essentially made a very difficult time easier to navigate, allowing me to grieve and focus on family without worrying about the administrative side of loss. I would recommend them again and again.
