I LOVE Hunter House and Im not afraid to shout it! This hamburger joint is my go-to place for comfort food on the weekends, I just love the grilled onions on their sliders! The staff are always very friendly and accommodating. It is a small hamburger joint well-known throughout the area for a reason, their sliders always hit the spot, and this place is an iconic landmark for so many people, as the Woodward Dream Cruise and Hunter House go hand-in-hand, you cant have one without the other! I know many people from out of state that actually freeze their burgers to make them last, so they can get their Hunter House fix even if theyre not in Michigan. I have no clue what the other negative reviews mentioning Hunter Houses staff are talking about, Ive never had a bad expereience here--come to this place for great conversation, laughs, and sincere service. You should DEFINITELY bring your kids to Hunter House, kids would probably love it more than adults. My nieces and nephews love to eat their sliders, and the staff are always friendly to the younger children I have brought in. Check out their Record Wall for a laugh, and next time youre in Birmingham try a Hunter House slider- yum!!

I went in this morning and sat at the dining counter for breakfast this morning. Was being helped by an older lady. The egg sandwich was excellent but took 45 mins to get while others were clearly getting much bigger orders in less time. I think it was because they were waiting for me to pay up front. This is a fair process but they should simply let customers know that instead of making them sit there. (I saw the team talking about it amongst themselves like they wanted to teach me a lesson!) Being from out of town, I am used to paying at any point in your meal. Kind of rude but I wanted to make sure the owners know to improve this process.

Hunter House is one of those classic Detroit slider diners. White box exterior, stainless 1960s style interior. Maybe youve seen a few around, Brays, Telway, Comet. Their "sliders" are on par when it comes to taste compared to other acts in town, but their prices are up there. For the cost of a single slider at Hunters you can have FOUR at Telway or Brays. Lets face it, nothing is cheap in Birmingham and Hunters is no exception. When you have a craving, nothing but a onion covered slider will do, but if they were a little cheaper, maybe it would be more a weekly ritual rather than a once in a blue moon experience.

This "original" location is tremendously better than the Ann Arbor off shoot. In Birmingham, lots of regulars roll through for lunch. Most sit at the counter but there are also some seats facing out of the restaurant. This place has been here a long time. You order at the counter, and when your food is ready, they yell out your name. You have to ask for a refill on your drink but they are quick once you do. Single cheeseburger is not enough, they are pretty small. I usually get two doubles. That fills me up. Each burger is like $3 or $4. I would definitely return when I am looking for lunch in Birmingham.

I usually love this place but Laura is absolutely rude and resulted in a lost customer. A few days ago she messed up our order which was ok I called and another employee set up for us to be credited for the portion of our order that was messed up. I call today to take advantage of this and Laura claims its not there and then proceeds to tell me to call the owner at home and argue with me about the order I had previously placed. Idc about the free food I frequent this place but Im not going to support an establishment that allows an employee to speak to me like that.

If you know what sliders are, these are the best. The meat is fresh, never frozen; the onions thin so they brown up just right. Fries are hot, thin and just crispy enough. If you dont know what sliders are, where have you been?! Small (3 for a moderate appetite, 2 for a smaller one) fast grilled burgers, usually w cheese, grilled onions and toppings. These are not thick, cant get your hands around them burgers but they do make a delicious, fast meal at lunch or after a night on the town.

Literally the worst so-called hamburgers Ive ever had. So where to begin? 6 burgers, chilli cheese fries, 2 sodas and a water for $27.00 I couldnt believe it! When you pull the bun up there was barely any so called meat product on the bun. White castle puts more meat on their burgers than this place does. STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU LIKE GIVING YOUR MONEY AWAY FOR NOTHING!! The owner of this establishment should be ashamed of themselves to dare to label this product as a burger.

Looks like pork taste like pork, it is pork, I m still cooking for fifty years 3 restaurants later. To many onions and lots of grease on those burgers. Very disappointed, all the flavor is in the onions pork and grease. Whitest beef Ive ever seen. I saw the box with raw meat didnt look good.looked white to me, I even ordered double meat.Very disappointed. Way better at motz burgers ,fort st Spring wells terminal area, very nice small burger

We ve lived here for 48 years&occasionally ate at HH because their burgers were unique tasting even though pricey. Last sat. we went& were so DISAPPOINTED! The burgers looked the same but the patty was the size of a silver dollar..smaller than White Castle& 3X the price. Shame on a long standing local business for resting on reputation &cheating loyal customers. The pickles are great. It will have been our LAST trip to HH..We cant afford it!

Dirty place. The dishes get scrubbed right in front of you as youre eating, just on the other side of the counter, in full view. There is a constant smell of dishes and detergent. Sliders are okay, not great by any means. There are better places in the area to get your slider fix. The place may look interesting from the outside, and may have a long history, the way it is right now there is simply no reason to walk inside.

DO NOT GO HERE WITH YOUR KIDS! I USED to take my son there. The Staff are a bunch of drug addicts now, always talking about getting high or the last party they went too. They were extremely unprofessional. I emailed the owner Susan about the employees at the time and SHE argued with me and told me I was crazy. I find HER AND HER STAFF INCREDIBLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND RUDE AND THE RESTAURANT ITSELF IS EXTREMELY DIRTY!

I am surprised about how many reviews rave these sliders. They are actually pretty gross, but maybe this is the best that your area offers. I think In and Out (although not so good either) is 10 times better. but for 2 bucks a slider, you get what you pay for. Why dont they put seasonings on their fries? They are basically comparable to a microwaved white castle burger.

Food is always fresh and cooked to order. Perfect little slider. I recommend getting a double or a triple, so the bun to burger ratio will be consistent. They always seem to go a little heavy on the onion, so I always tell them light or no onion at all. Great flavor, quick service. Havent had a shake yet but one of my friends say its the best theyve ever had....
