I had my infant child enrolled in Creative Beginnings Learning Center of Birmingham, Michigan and I was very disappointed with the care that was provided. There were several incidents that led me to change centers but I will only list a few. The girls that worked in the infant room were just that- GIRLS. They were mostly in their early 20’s and had no children of their own. There are two owners/ co-directors (sisters) and after my initial visit, I had never seen either of them at the center. Also, a new employee of theirs had told me that during her two weeks of employment she had only seen the directors two times and a 19-year-old girl with no kids of her own was constantly left in charge of the center. Keep in mind that by state law a director must be a t the center for at least 6 hours each day. Also, on a 90-degree day (June 2009) their air conditioner broke and I (the parent of one of the infants) was not informed at the time that it happened. That means that the refrigerator was not working and the pre-mixed formula chanced being spoiled. Not to mention babies are not supposed to be in such extreme heat. Just imagine- if your infant was stranded in 90-degree (plus) weather wouldn’t you want the option to come pick him/her up?! The new employee that was in the infant room at the time of the incident had informed me of it when I went later that day to pick my child up. She said that neither of the directors was there when it had happened and they had to make several attempts to contact them. I had chosen this center after a serious of questions (in which I later found their answers to not be totally accurate) because I though that I would get what I pay for- It’s a very pricey center. Unfortunately the standards do not live up to the cost. I would not recommend this center- Period!

Overall, very happy with IXL - I was shocked to see the horrible reviews under the previous center, Creative Beginnings. I started my child (infant) at this center in mid-2010 under IXL. So far, I have been very happy with the overall environment and teachers. Since IXL took over, the new owner/directors have made significant staff changes and building changes (new flooring, new paint, new rooms, new playground, etc). Re: two reviews below, I am so sorry to hear about the terrible experience your kids had to endure, especially about the 90-degree day. The air conditioning did break in the infant room over the summer in 2010 under IXL, but the morning it happened, the director went out and bought a new unit and had it installed within hours. I really like the teachers there - they all have experience and a certain level of education in childcare. By the way, one of the 2 directors are there when I arrive in the morning and also there when I arrive at the end of the day.

Our son has been at IXL in Birmingham, MI since he was two. As a working parent, the last thing you want to do during the day is worry about your child. With my son at IXL, we never worry. Our experience with IXL has been incredible. Everyone on the staff has been great and professional... and they are so caring about all of the children. I love how my son is always greeted enthusiastically when he arrives and when he leaves. They track your childs development and you get updates with a report card - this has been great seeing how much my son has progressed - and boy has he progressed! Lets just say hes more than ready for kindergarten and much of that is due to the efforts of the IXL staff. The summer camp program has given my son of taste of what future field trips will be like in school. My son has really enjoyed the extra programs (Spanish and Soccer) offered through IXL. I highly recommend IXL to any parents in the Metro Detroit area!

I agree with the lady under me. I had my child in this center for less than a month. The Directors were only there for the tour, which in later visits I noticed they had the young lady from the infant room giving tours and running the center. She was very friendly whenever I would come and at one point informed me that she had only worked their for a little over a month before she was left in charge of the entire center. The women all the classrooms seemed to be young and for the most part caring and were always friendly, while walking up to the center on many different occasions i could hear the "teachers" yelling at the students. This is by far the worst day care and I am shocked they are still running.. stay away!

Best daycare around...if you value hard working, kind, patient and smart teachers you should be sending your children here. My 3rd child just started, I have one alumni and 1 in preschool. we could not ask for anything more. Well, except if they were closer to our house, we drive from Bloomfield Hills (Walnut Lake/Franklin) area just to keep our kids with people that love them and that we love right back. COME TO IXL BIRMINGHAM, you will not be disappointed!
