Where to even begin! Our son was attending another highly-touted Birmingham-area pre-school before he came to Discovery Corner Academy. His previous school was clearly not a good fit. After visiting five schools to transfer him to in the Birmingham-Troy area, a complete stranger told me to check DCA out before making any decision. This was our sixth school and it was clear from our first meeting with Loretta, the Director of the Academy, that this was the right place for our son. As with every good school or company, it starts from the top. Loretta is an outstanding Director, who listens to parents and children alike. And the teachers! There is so much love and learning in that school that my son is excited to go and isnt in any rush to come home. He simply loves all of his teachers and wants to learn and talks to us about his day. The teachers set the mood for all of these kids to thrive and to work together. DCA feels like a community that you want your child exposed to for all of the right reasons. I highly recommend Discovery Corner Academy to anyone who is looking for an environment filled with love of learning, nurturing and diversity. We feel so confident now with our son starting Kindergarten in the fall, and we owe it to DCA who works with us to continue the learning process at home.

Where to begin with our experience at DCA. First and foremost the staff, they are exceptional! I believe that good staff comes from the top, and Loretta is phenomenal. When I first met her, I thought that “she can’t be real” no one is that good with kids. I was completely wrong! Loretta is what I call “magical” in our house. The way that DCA is ran is exceptional, the hours are what working parents need and it is not at a cost to our children. I could take my daughter in early to get to that morning meeting, and pick her up at the same time. All of us working parents have been there before, and the guilt is tremendous. That is until you pick up at DCA! When you pick up and your kids don’t want to leave, yes it is a hard pill to swallow, but it is also an amazing feeling! Our family only has one regret that is that we had found DCA earlier so that our older son could have attended. He attended summer camp and some holidays and snow days at DCA and loved it. If you are looking for something that is in the Troy/Birmingham/Bloomfield area, DCA is the place you should be!

We looked everywhere around Royal Oak, Birmingham and Troy, MI and Discovery Corner Academy was the best place we could have chosen, larger in space than all of the other many preschools we looked at, always clean, and the set up is very well planned. The teachers are amazing and very caring to our child and the school Director is the best, on top of everything and has a great spirit. We love the way they are organized to do different learning activities through out the day and the week, different rooms for music, exercise, reading, learning and crafts. DCA has lots of space, big rooms and spaces to play. Lots of natural light and a playground with many cool stuff to play outside. There are activities such as "Bring your bike to school" day, ice cream day, fire department visit, summer picnic, etc! I love to see my kid excited everyday for going to school and not wanting to leave at the end of the day because that means she loves and really enjoys her school.

Discovery Corner Academy has been the best experience for our son. We had him in another daycare/preschool location in Troy that was close to our house. He would cry everyday at drop off. We decided it was time to switch and a co-worker told my husband about her great experience with Discovery Corner so we checked them out. It was a completely different experience! My son stopped crying every morning and he was thriving. He started in the second half of the year in the pre-k program with Ms. Connie and she was wonderful with him. He is now in the Kindergarten program with Ms. Richele and doing amazing. Ms. Richele and Ms. Loretta have totally prepared him for school in the Fall. We drive completely out of the way to get to DCA and its absolutely worth it. Any time someone asks for a recommendation for a daycare/school program, I always recommend Discovery Corner. My only regret is that we didnt find them sooner!

Our daughter attends the kindergarten program at Discovery Corner Academy. She started with preschool at DCA 3 yrs ago. Back then, when we started, she would make an excuse to skip school everyday. We took Director Lorettas advice and continued sending her everyday, even though it was very difficult for us as parents. Within a month, everything changed. She liked going to school so much that we had to send her even in summer. She is a confident 5 yr old now who loves reading, maths and playtime at school. The other thing I love about DCA is they have outdoor playtime, even in winter, unless the weather is extremely bad. I think outdoor play is so important for children. We just LOVE her kindergarten teacher Ms. Richele. She is so good with children. Everyday is a different learning experience for kids. If you are looking for alternate kindergarten program, DCA is the place to go.

My son has been going to Discovery for the past 3 months and we love it! Ms. Loretta and her staff are very warm and caring. My son was enrolled at a different program for a few months and we were so disappointed that the teachers were just babysitters. At Discovery, the teachers take personal interest in the growth and development of your child. Thanks to Ms. Connie my son has learnt to play chess. They have a good mix of academics, play and learning activities. My son was so excited about all the fun summer events. Their schedule is flexible and they are open all year round which is great for working parents. I highly recommend Discovery to anyone looking for childcare. We know families that went here more than 10 years ago and have nothing but good things to say about their experiences. Thank you Ladies for all the love, warmth and affection.

Discovery Corner has provided our daughter with a wonderful foundation to start kindergarten. She has grown both social-emotionally and academically while attending D.C. Loretta is the heart of the school and her love for the school and the children has a positive impact on staff, students and parents. The learning environment is warm, the staff is friendly and you know you are leaving your child in great care. The most amazing part is the flexibility. If you need to switch a day because of a doctors appointment or add a few extra hours because you have a meeting, Loretta always assures you that its "no problem". My older child has even come when she had a day off of school. I highly recommend meeting Loretta and taking a tour of the school, if you are looking for a preschool, kindergarten or daycare in the Birmingham/ Troy area.

I am so grateful that I discovered DCA. I went back to work full-time when my son was 2.5, and before that he had never left me for more than 2 hours. It was a painful process of searching for nanny/daycare until I found Ms. Loretta. She provided me with the opportunity to feel great about leaving him, knowing that he would have a safe and fun day at DCA. She and her staff had been taking care of my son like their own child. I really cant speak highly enough about our experience with DCA. It is a loving, caring, and nurturing environment that your baby needs. It is also an educational, resourceful and a positive environment for your childs development. I highly recommend DCA to any family!
