This is a very nice facility with amenities like a pool, hot tub, sauna, free fitness classes, and a child care facility. I am a former member of 3 gyms so I know what I like in a workout facility. Upon signing up I was offered one free personal training session. The price for a weekly meet was WAY too much. Needless to say I declined- but the trainer was still trying to sell me. I did not enjoy that. Did learn a good workout routine though! The Pros: Cleaner then most gyms. The machines are all equipped with TVs and are brand new looking. The classes are FUN! and challenging -Talented teachers. The lockers are big enough for a gym bag! A rare thing! LOTS of weights in variety so youre never really waiting. Diversity! I love that in a gym I hate gyms that seem its for one type of person. THE CONS:* THE FRONT DESK GIRL WITH BLONDE / GREY HAIR. She is so unprofessional. LOLn at overweight members and staring crudely. Get her out of there shes ruining the gyms atmosphere. Awk man dominated weight area. The locker room set up so you see all naked people @_@ ugh. The staffs vibes make it uncomfortable to workout here. 2 experiences:My first friend- we will call her A. Wanted a year membership nothing more nothing less. This was probably in February 2017. The woman was friendly at first- then became aggressive in trying to sell the membership which she already agreed upon. The whole time this woman was unprofessional. When we thought it was finally all over she asks A to provide 10 phone numbers for a free gift. A asks what kind of gift it is- sales woman says a water bottle, A declines. Sales woman says a towel, A declines again stating shed rather not violate her friends privacy by giving away their phone numbers. Sales woman ignores this statement saying- Dont you want a cool T-shirt at this point its clear this gift is commission or of some kind of value to her. A says I have enough T-shirts, no thank you. Sales woman keeps talking about the 10 phone numbers- You dont have 10 friends who would like a free pass? You can workout with them! ETC for at least 5 mins or longer. I am staring at A waiting for her to say something to get this woman to stop. A sits silently and I feel her vibes of aggravation and annoyance- mind you A didnt even want to give her OWN phone number. The sales woman sees the scorn on As face and realizes there is no budging. MIND YOU this WHOLE TIME she is talking she is looking at A as i am too waiting to see if shell say yes. (I know she would never so Im ready to go and getting irritated too). A said nothing. She stares at sales woman intently silently. After sales woman effectively made herself look silly, unprofessional, and rude she realizes A has not said a word. Embarrassed she tells us to enjoy our workout. Story 2: This time I bring in my friend- well call her C. She has never been to a gym before unlike A and has no interest in signing up PERIOD other then to use the one week pass I picked up for her to take yoga with me. I warned her about the sales people and how they will push her to join. C is also uncomfortable providing her personal info. It is Cs birthday she points out as sales man puts her info in the system. Sales men calls over hyper sale dude who sings happy birthday then asks her all these uncomfortable questions about her gym history- which doesnt exist to make it worse. He throws a class schedule down but finally realizes we want him to go away. He actually did. After all is set up- sales men offers to show us around. I decline saying I will show her he insists. C & I roll our eyes. That is until we are far enough away for him to explain how hyper sales man is really annoying about memberships and he had to show us or he would be harassed. I tell him of sales woman and he explains shes been fired for being how she was. Sales man as we walk actually explains a great deal about a waived initiation fee that only happens every few weeks no contract. I tell C to do it she refuses and sales man is OK!! Tour ends but C is not happy.

A friend and I visited this location because it was the most convenient for us distance wise. When we arrived, the front desk staff was very friendly when they greeted us. We were told to wait for one of the service clerks to help us out. Our clerk, Danny was very pleasant, but the problem came when one of this locations personal trainers came over and unnecessarily harassed us. Our only concern was activating a promotional membership trial we received from a different location. This trainer went on to lecture us about health and wellness, which was good information, but it was not requested or what we visited the location for. He then went on to criticize us about our body types and appearance and was very insulting and rude, saying that we would never be able to afford his personal training services (which we had never asked for anyways) and that we should leave. He ended up upsetting my friend to the point of tears and so she left the building. I informed him that I was not going to get worked up over the situation and he continued to try and get a rise out of me and anger me (which did not work) I politely told the trainer that he was being very unprofessional, and that I would prefer if he let us be and went to help one of his clients who he mentioned was waiting on him the entire time, instead. Why he chose to harass us and keep his client waiting for 30 whole minutes, Im not sure, but it was very off-putting. I again asked him politely to cease conversation with me because he was being unprofessional and he responded saying "Im an employee, I dont have to leave, but you can". He then continued to harass me into leaving saying that he would find someone to make sure I leave, which was completely unnecessary seeing as I posed no type of threat to anyone. Finally, once he realized that I was not phased by his rudeness nor was I going to leave, he calmed down and attempted to change his attitude and the way he spoke towards me, leaving shortly after to help his client who had become impatient from waiting on him for so long. Apparently this was just another one of the many rude encounters that people have had with this specific personal trainer. I would not recommend interacting with the staff at this location. The facility itself seemed very nice, but I am no longer interested in joining or going back there regardless.

Awful and unnecessary location built for the Grosse Pointers. Many problems including it being built inside a god damned hospital AND shopping strip so there is NEVER any parking, the lot they built for the gym is instantly taken and used by anyone who is there to shop. There is a pizza shop, a wine store, a GNC (go figure), and a hair salon. Already too much going on. On top of all this there is a bus terminal/stop right in front of the place so there is quite literally always foot/car traffic. This is all before setting foot in the place. The biggest complaints about the actual gym itself are the lockers are horribly designed. They are in a horseshoe shape with a bench in the middle, so essentially only 3-4 people can comfortably use the area, and when there are ass and balls hanging out everywhere it would be nice to have a few feet of room. When you are getting in/out and are using a locker guys are constantly walking past you, turning a simple clothing change into an ordeal with constant apologies and pardons. Also I dont know what it is but the guys here are obsessed with the sauna, and I see people step in there will full gym clothes on after a workout. No etiquette whatsoever. Here comes my warning and the reason I am writing this: Stay away from the workers. They are only trying to take your money. "Train and Drain" is a term for a reason and I learned the hard way. Dont sign anything. Dont take the personal fitness assessment, its not free, its their foot in your financial door. Just pay your 20 a month and use the weights and cardio as you should. What they dont tell you but the TV flashes it constantly is that they have a YouTube channel with how tos that are FREE and WAY better than the revolving door of trainers they have. When I signed up they didnt even measure me with tape, claiming "There was no tape at the gym". Just lazy. Save your money and go elsewhere.
