Ive been to many Planet Fitnesses all over, from Ga to Miami to New York. This one in particular is hands down my favorite one and the best so far! Its a shame it has a 3.5 star rating (at the time this review has been written - hopefully that will change). Reasons why I love this gym: - the equipment: especially the section in the back with the battle rope, TRX trainer, kettle bells etc, are amazing! Ive never been to a planet fitness with all these things. - cleanliness: from the equipment, to the bathrooms, to just everything about in the facility is clean! Its very apparent they do a great job keeping things tidy. Overall, this place is huge. I love the layout, openness, and pretty much everything about this place. Its very clear and apparent the owner put a lot of effort in making this an awesome gym and paid attention to all the details! To the jungle gym in the back, the open layout, the amazing hydro beds that have touch screens that actually work, to the bathrooms with granite countertops and beautiful mirrors, to the stretching machines, to even the freakin mats!!! All the equipment is clean and in optimal condition. The staff has been great so far too! Other planet fitnesses I have been to there was always something that was either broken or just not in optimal condition. Yes it may not be 24/7, but goodness gracious, look at what youre getting for the money!! I for one really appreciate this gym and the energy and effort that has been put into it. Thank you!

I love this gym. I have been working out there for about a month now. The staff there are very friendly and also greets you with a smile. I tend to workout very early in the morning and often its still dark outside. This gym has a security officer on staff that watches people to there car. This really makes me feel safe. There was an incident a few days ago with this lady and I believe its from the person below Sasha Love. I witnessed the incident first hand as I was working out in the same area. The two gentlemen asked her politely to follow the rules of the gym. She started calling them a much of racial names so they alerted security. Security addressed the lady politely reminded her of the rules and suggested that everyone follow them from that point forward. The lady continued to insult the two gentlemen and just ranted on about hating white people. Security handled the situation best as he could. Im speaking up for him because people like Sasha Love come on the internet and totally misrepresent the facts. Im proud they cancelled your membership because there is no place for the kind of racist comments you said about those two white gentlemen. Im a black older female and you made me feel so bad to witness that. Security and PF did I great job handling this situation.

I received a phone call from someone who said that their name is Kathy, from PF. Kathy said that my membership is terminated due to something that I supposedly had said to Security. I argued my case that I had not done anything wrong and I shared with security that I suffer from depression and it was suggested by my therapist that I work out. I also explained how I forgot to take my psychotropic medication that morning and when two men approached me, I felt threatened and afraid. I also have a diagnosis of paranoid personality disorder. If this is the reason (s) that my membership has been terminated, then I am being discriminated against. Kathy stated to me, "...due to the conversation you had with security, the regional decided to terminate your membership. .." . I dont feel that is right or legal. Perhaps the security added more to what I said. I dont know. All I know is that I shared some personal information with security and it ended up causing me to lose my membership. This is why people who suffer from mental illness dont seek help due to being stigmatized. Working out is part of my treatment plan due to research supporting the fact that exercise helps with depression. The paranoia and anxiety, Im still working on.

I gave them one star because theyre not open twenty four hours I guess because theyre located in Detroit which is crazy I feel they should be open just like the southfield and Bloomfield hills and Dearborn Location plus Im moving back to the city soon and with my crazy work schedule I will be paying for something I am unable to use SO IF THE OWNERS ARE READING THIS PLEASE THINK OF EVERYONE ELSE I LOVE DETROIT PLANET FITNESS IS A GREAT ADDITION IN THE PLAZA JUST THINK ABOUT THE WORKING PEOPLE DONT THINK BECAUSE ITS DETROIT IT SHOULDNT BE OPEN TWENTY FOUR HOURS LOOK AT IT THIS WAY YOU WOULD BE GETTING MORE BUSINESS WHICH IS MORE MONEY AND THE PUBLIC WOULD LOVE IT AND ENJOY IT SO THINK ABOUT IT I MISS DETROIT THEYRE ALREADY TAKING TOO MANY GREAT THINGS FROM DETROIT ALREADY DONT DO THE SAME PEOPLE IN THE CITY LOVE TO WORKOUT AS WELL AT A GREAT PRICE AND BE FIVE OR TEN MINUTES AWAY FROM HOME APPOSE TO 30MINUTES TO AND HOUR

This location is perfect and close to my home. Its also convenient to come to this location when my children are doing after school activities. However, one of the downfalls is that its not open 24 hours like other location. The Question I would like to raise is it closing early because its in a predominately black community? And if so why is it so easy to do the black community disservice by closing the gym up early. This is so typical of organisation that doesnt have disservice in up mangerment is 99.5% White. They dont know how to fair because of stereotypes and stigma. The bottom line is that this Planet Fitness needs to be open 24 hours just like the rest of the Planet Fitness. The money is green Equally like other communities and cultures and thats what they need to be looking at and Stop Redlining

The staff here is great hands down, but unfortunately I live 3 miles (not even) from this planet fitness I have to drive out of my way to go tanning at planet fitness with a tanning bed. I pay 20 dollars a month for the black card which advertises tanning but this planet fitness does not have ONE tanning bed. I understand this planet fitness is Detroit but right across 8 mile is the suburbs, the owner did not think about that when modeling this planet fitness. I pay for tanning which again is advertised but is not provided, yet there is way more than enough of the hydro massage beds which I barely see anyone using. I dont think it is fair to pay for something that this facility does not offer.

I love this PF location. By far one of the best Ive been to. The gym is always clean and the staff is always friendly. The only two complaints I have are: 1.) This is not a 24 hour location. And 2.) When I was at the gym earlier this week expecting to be greeted by the manager Allen he wasnt there. I asked the girl at the desk when he would be back. She said that hes not with the company anymore. I think thats a shame because I followed him from the Dearborn gym and he always seemed to really motivate his customers and coworkers. Overall, great location always clean and great customers too. I would and do recommend it to anyone I can.
