These guys are scammers. First off, it was going to cost $3000.00 no matter what they did. Rebuild or install a new tranny. Said they couldnt find a used tranny even though I found 2 that same night. Asked for an estimate for installing a used tranny and they didnt give me one until I took in the money I owed them for literally cutting my tranny out. Didnt give me back all my parts. Treated me like a second class citizen When I went in to settle up, they basically told me I was an idiot. I paid and was waiting for my "Paid in full" receipt when another customer walked in behind me. They completely walked away from me and waited on this guy. When one of the mechanics came aout to ask me what I needed I told him the manager was done with me apparently and waited on someone else. His reply "Oh, dont be offended honey, he does the same thing to us". Honey? Really. And besides, you idiots get paid to deal with his BS. I DO NOT. Stay away from these guys. They dont care about you as a customer, unless youre willing to go broke for their benefit. They also told me the used tranny I got was no good, with parts falling out of it. They obviously dont know the difference between tranny parts, and the bolts that hold the tranny pan on. Even I knew that. The manager, Jim, definitely missed his calling as a used car salesman.

I am very pleased with the service I got at Cottman Transmission. I was referred to Cottman Transmission by Muffler Man on Corunna Rd. The guys there said they couldnt repair the car but Cottman might be able to. I called on a Monday afternoon and gave them the codes for my 2006 Civic. He checked them and felt they could do the repair on the third gear solenoid without having to open the transmission. I dropped off the car that night and on Tuesday they called and gave me an estimate. The estimate was reasonable and they said the parts would be in Wednesday or Thursday. I picked up the car Friday night and the mechanic said 75% of the time this sort of problem can be repaired and the car will have no more problems. But 25% of the time transmission trouble will develop. Ive driven the car for 2500 miles with no problems. I was hoping to get my car back sooner but I think they did everything they could. They were very professional in keeping me informed, and the key drop service for after hours was very convenient

Took my car in May of 2016 and Im STILL having issues. My transmission was replaced... it still jumps when I put it into gear. My air conditioner needed a new condenser, its STILL blowing hot air. (they told me last summer that the Freon needed a chance to move thru the lines so thats why it was blowing warm air last summer) I have it there right now as I type. They still cannot figure out why it jumps when put into gear. My air? The guy said it probably had a Freon leak. Theyve had it since Wednesday (today is Friday) and the guy now says theres Freon in it and its blowing cold air. We took it to Grand Rapids last Saturday and it never once blew cold on our way there or on our way back so I called BS... yep... suddenly he changed his tune and said hed keep looking. We paid $5000 for both the transmission and the air conditioning condenser. WHY DOESNT IT WORK???

I took my car in for a simple transmission fluid and filter change. I dropped it off Friday morning Aug 5th about 8:15am. About 3:00pm I had to call them to see if my car was done, in which it was not. I finally picked my car up around 4:15pm. All day for just an hour and half job?! Saturday afternoon around 1:00pm I go out to my car and I find a big puddle of transmission fluid under my car. Now I have to take it back in Monday morning, losing a day of work, to have them fix the leak. I never had a leak before I had the fluid change. I will see how much of a run around I will get. It should not take all day to fix; at the most maybe an hour. I took the car back on Monday. They took it in right away. They found that my filler tube gasket was dry rotted and they had to replace it. It took about 2 hours and they didnt charge me.

I had been to a few different places to get a quote. At first these guys were cheaper, if only by a few hundred bucks, but after speaking with Mark and explaining my situation he offered me a deal which was atleast $1200 cheaper then any other place, plus a 6 month same as cash option to pay it off! Mark was very personable and friendly. I will say some of the other mechanics werent quite as friendly on the phone, but im sure they get plenty of sour responses from people upset with the situation at hand. They are currently rebuilding my transmission and a few other minor repairs. I got a 12 month warranty along with the rebuild and minor repairs for $2000. Thats a pretty solid deal. Once i get the car back i may change my rating to a 5 star, or less if im upset with anything else. But for now im pretty happy with them and their service!

I was extremely satisfied with the help Rob and Andrew provided me concerning the issue I thought I had with my transmission. Rob and his staff checked out my truck and assured me that the transmission was ok. I felt they were very honest and took the time to address my concerns. I called first to see if I needed an appointment and I thought it was great that Rob took the time to talk with me on the phone to find out what problems I was having. I did not feel rushed at all at Cottman Transmission. Unlike some shops where it just seem that they want you to get in and out as fast as possible and dont really seem to care about the customer at all, just the money. Cottman Transmission has fair prices and fast service, I would definitely recommend their shop to anyone.

Last September, my transmission failed on my 2003 Ford Explorer. I took it to Cottman. They provided me with free analysis & told me I needed a transmission rebuild. Since I had approximately 185,000 miles on it, I didnt want to spend a lot to fix it. They worked with me and gave me a great deal. 7 months later, I had a transmission light come on again. I only had a 6 month warranty on the work, but Cottman worked with me, found that the problem was unrelated to the work they had done, and STILL gave me a great deal to fix the new problem. The owner, Rob, personally dealt with me. They provided prompt, high-quality work, and excellent customer service. I would reccomend them to anyone!

Liars and theives. Took my car in for a fluid and filter change. Was there for an hour before they took me back and showed me a transmission pan with shards of metal claiming it was mine. The pan had to have come off a Ford truck given it had Ford stamped in deep block letters whereas mine had the Ford emblem stamped lightly. Told me I had 6 weeks at best. 2 years later the transmission was shifting fine when I traded it in towards a new car.
