The food is pretty good here, but it is pricey for most people. The thing that we disliked the most was the disrespect shone to us. I dont know if they dont like us because we are younger (27) but the waitress we had, the hostess that seated us, and the manager were all rude to us and didnt seem to care that our service was bad. Meanwhile, all of the older couples around us got seated first, served first, received good constant service and were treated with respect. That was definitely not the case for us and we will never be coming back here again, I like to be respected and treated nice when I dine out (that is their job after all), especially for how much it costs here. If you like to be respected as well, I would advise not to go here, I am respected more when I pick up a pizza from Pizza Hut down the street. 84 East is a good alternative, much better/kinder wait staff, much cheaper, and really good food still.

Our family stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant while looking for a gluten free option for breakfast. Our only regrets are that we have not found this place sooner and that they were not going to be open in time for us to go on Sunday morning before leaving town. We have not enjoyed breakfast so much since we started eating gluten free a year ago! I had one of their GF crepes. The "dough" was light and airy but very satisfying. The seasonings and filling were perfect. Our children loved their GF pancakes and I confess to trying a couple of bites. YUMMY. It was so fun to be able to tell my kids yes they could have the pancakes. Best part? We enjoyed all of that with no tummy aches afterwards. Highly recommend this place. We will definitely be going here again!

We had a great experience at AlpenRose for Sunday Brunch this past week. At first we were disappointed to see that the omelette, Belgian waffle, and carving stations werent present, but our server politely informed us that the regular brunch had been scaled back, including the price. The special items are available on Easter, Hope College graduation, Mothers Day, etc., and at a higher price. At $14.95, this standard brunch was an excellent value. A number of breakfast and lunch items are available, as well as salads, fresh fruit, kids items, and a nice dessert bar. (AlpenRose cake is excellent.) Our only complaint would be that beverages are no longer included in the brunch price. Our service was excellent, and we would definitely go back again!

Went to eat here for an event that a company was putting on. The service was slow and one of the waitresses spilled a drink on one of the other guests that was at my table and really wasnt too apologetic about it. Even though the event was planned and everyone received a steak dinner, all of the steaks were served medium rare, which no one at my table or some of the other tables appreciated. They could have at least ask everyone how they liked their steaks cooked. Didnt really bother to come around and ask if anyone needed anything else or if we needed any of our drinks refilled, including the coffee. Will I eat there again, no. Will I recommend it, definitely not!

This is a wonderful place to walk through and enjoy the wood work. It is a shame that a wonderful place like this is managed so poorly. The waitress was not knowledgable when we asked questions about the menue. When i ordered a rare steak, and recieved one with no pink, she told us that it was they way they did them, and that it was not safe to eat rare meat. She never offered to prepared correctly. Our deserts were disapointing. Our waitress gushed over them, but again could tell us very little about them. We made the mistake of ordering some, hoping they would make up for our experiences with the rest of the meal. We should have quit while we were ahead

Went for Lunch today. Lunch was okay but not that great :/ ...ordered JÄGER SCHNITZEL; the meat was okay...tasted like it has been frozen & just unthawed it. I asked for no braised cabbage, meanwhile, i got it...i just didnt eat it. The side dish was blah. The waiter wasnt all the enthusiastic & didnt seem happy to serve or work there. (poor service). I would recommend going to the cafe area, much better attitude and dessert. I have yet to try their other food choices, hopefully better luck next time.

The atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous. Kind of fancy, but very homey. The food is wonderful. I cant believe the assortment of food on the menu and on the Sunday brunch. The dessert bar for the brunch is outstanding. They even offer gluten free. I had the pasta on the menu that was very tender and the pesto sauce was very creamy. The panna cotta for dessert is to die for! And the service, our waitress was so friendly and helpful. We will definitely return here every time we are in Holland.

We had lunch at the AlpenRose today. It was delicious! Not only was the food professionally prepared and extremely reasonably priced, but the atmosphere was warm and comfortable and the wait-staff was helpful and welcoming. We were celebrating a graduation and so they gave us a free dessert for the special occassion! We plan to return again soon, even though we live in Grand Rapids. This is one of the best fine-dining establishments in Holland!

I wont be going back. Ive been to this restaurant many times & have always been impressed with the quality...until this time. The hostess was insincere and awkward, the waitress was trying to be nice but was inattentive, absentminded & not the level of professional one would expect. The food was ok, but certainly not the quality Id come to expect & not for the price! It was a disappointing way to celebrate my daughters birthday. Sad.

I took my wife out for a birthday dinner. The restaurant had a promotion for 2 salads, 2 entrees, 2 desserts, and a bottle of wine for $50! The food was, as always, incredible .The Michigan salad is about the only salad I will eat, the prime rib was done to perfection, and the pecan ice cream ball exceeded my expectations. The house cab was great as well. Our waitress was fantastic and friendly. It was such a great evening out.

MY husband and I had our wedding reception here. Their wedding packages are priced fairly and the event room is gorgeous. We opted for a lunch buffet of prime rib and herb baked chicken; it was truly delicious. I also ordered my wedding cake from their resident baker, Beth. Shes extremely talented and worked with me down to every detail to ensure that I got exactly what I wanted. Alpen Rose helped make my day amazing.

My fiancé and I ate dinner here this evening, after meeting with the general manager to plan our wedding dinner. He was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Best steak Ive ever eaten in my life. We cant wait to have our special night here. The atmosphere is unmatched, quaint, quite, and an absolutely beautiful. We have already planned on coming back for future celebrations!!! What a gem!!!
