I had an extremely unpleasant experience at Varsity Lincoln in Novi, Mi. My story is long, but there is a character limit here. The summarized version is that the dealership personnel did not communicate with each other, which resulted in me making a 2 hour drive each way for a car that was already sold when I got there. The salesman I had been working with was off, and the person he asked me to work with when I got there knew nothing about the sale I had been working on. After standing around for 15 minutes waiting to talk to someone in authority (at their request, not mine). The individual I was directed to was unapologetic, somewhat confrontational, and rude to me. When I very calmly said that I would not be shopping there, and that my internet review of them would be unfavorable. He said (this is a quote), "I dont know if that is a threat or a promise..." then proceeded to tell me how I was at fault for the situation. When I interrupted him, he said (another quote) "I listened to you, now you listen to me..." and continued to tell me what I should done to avoid this. I want to be very clear that I never raised my voice, never called anyone any names, never cursed, and never made any threats (unless you feel that the above was really a threat). I really feel that he was more interested in telling me why I was wrong than trying to make the situation better. I feel that I had been very professional (especially given how angry I was). I have to state that he was correct in that I could have placed a deposit on the car earlier, but I had agreed with the salesman that I would do so over the phone on Saturday morning before I left for the dealership because I was unsure if I would be able to make the long drive. The salesman could not be reached on the phone (even though he said call him on Saturday morning). We were only able to text. The salesman didnt pass along the specifics of the deal (even though we agreed he would call and have the car and the paperwork ready for me when I got there). I dont care that they sold the car (mistakes happen and I could have helped the situation), but I do object to their mishandling of the situation, and then treating me like I was the cause of it, when I was the one who did exactly what I said I would.

I purchased a 2009 Ford Flex in 2011. It had 40,000 miles on it when I bought it, and today it has 68000. The Flex has been in service multiple times for different issues. I have asked them to check the brakes several times from the day I bought the car. Occassionally, there is a grinding or rubbing sound which to me sounds like the brakes need to be replaced. They have assured me that the brakes are fine and that is how they are supposed to sound. There also seems to be a randomly repeating problem with the RPMs winding out if I accelerate too quickly. They of course cant find anything wrong. I know something is off and thats not how the car is supposed to run. I also understand if they cant find the problem it is tough to fix. I brought the car to them to repair the sunroof after it exploded while I was driving down the freeway. They repaired the sunroof okay although I had to bring it back because the sunroof was making a rubbing sound when it opened and closed and twice for them to clean up the glass in the car. I originally brought it to the dealership to fix the sunroof because I thought that would be the best option. In hindsight I would not do that again. I guess i was thinking they would detail the car so that it looked better than when I brought it in. I am also partly frustrated (yes, I know it is a used car) but with the low miles it has on it I dont believe there should be this many problems, I do recognize that that is a Ford issue not a varsity Lincoln issue. After every service call I have filled out the service cards that are left in the car so you can rate their service and on each one I have written "please call me regarding the service on this car" along with poor marks for service. I have never gotten a call back. I guess I really like to be wowed with customer service which can go a long way in making up for poor quality issues with a product. Overall, I seem to prefer Ford products over most other brands. I am looking to buy a larger SUV and Ive begun to look at GMC and Chevy as good alternatives. I will say that the shuttle drivers are very nice I would definitely not buy from Varsity again.

I have taken my car in twice to this dealership. The first time was due to my brakes squeaking. I was told that it was due to weather and the person proceeded in explaining how weather affects the breaks and can cause squeaking. So annoyed but I said OK, I will cycle through all types of weather. I bring my vehicle back for that and other issues that started. I was told they could not duplicate any of the issues and then told well they heard the brakes but now its a design issue!!!! Are you kidding me!!!! Lets add salt to the wound and I received from the manager the last time you had my car a day at the spa for my car because you left me with 2 miles to empty.. The day at the spa included a cleaning of the interior and exterior, oil change, tire rotation and ... Are you ready... A FULL tank of gas.... Well, my car at least got the day at the spa this time, right... I start driving and as pull on the road I hear "ding"... I HAVE ZERO miles to empty!!!!! Are you freaking kidding me. I promptly go back up there and I am less than thrilled. Not to mention you dont have my key in the car and service is closed and my account is not closed out and you didnt leave any of my paperwork in the car to tell me what you didnt do... The manager that was there, Pat, did get me taken care of on the gas and apologized, however I just want to know is this how all the customers are treated or do they throw our names in a hat and decide this one will be the one they treat like crap. I will never recommend this dealership nor will I ever go back. They have made me never want to buy/lease a Ford product again. I cant wait until my Flex lease is up, I will be a loyal customer to another company. Until then, I am taking it to another dealership where they seem to value their customers. Varsity Lincoln your customer service sucks and you should be ashamed of how you handled this account.

"This is by far the best car dealer in Michigan ": My wife contacted and visited many car dealers before going to Varsity in Novi. I wasnt thrilled with the idea of driving one hour away from our house for a simple car dealership. She was in love with the place and team. She said that the first day she drove there, the vehicle she wanted to see was just sold. When they heard that she drove that far to see the vehicle, Jeri the manager came over and talked to her, apologized and gave her a $25 dollar gas gift card. Ben, the sales representative, tried to find her something similar and while she waited, she was provided with coffee, snacks. In general, they made sure she was comfortable. She said she really liked Ben because he was really nice, friendly and patient. He promised he would find her the perfect car. Later I met Ben, Jeri and the team and I understood why she loved them. They are really friendly, professional and welcoming. Ben followed up very closely with all our requests. He was able to fulfill my wifes wish list for the car. In less than 3 weeks he found the perfect vehicle for my wife. Also he was able to give us a really good price. We simply couldnt say no. After our purchase, Ben was really good on addressing any issues with the vehicle. He even sent drivers out to pick up the car so we didnt have to drive the long trip back. But honestly, for this great service I wouldnt mind the drive. Great team, great value which is why I can say that this is by far the best car dealer in Michigan and Im planning on returning to them for our next vehicle purchase
