Amazing! I have been a student at Heartbeat all through high school and I had so many amazing opportunities, such as performing in Spain, London and with professional companies here in the twin cities. I came in as a ballerina and left a well-rounded dancer. Before I was at a Russian Ballet school, where disrespect was not tolerated and technique was paramount. We were yelled at and some were asked to leave class if the teacher thought a student was being disrespectful or not fulfilling their full potential. Heartbeat studios do not yell at a student just because they can or to be mean. Teachers want respect, for the students to learn, fulfill their full potentials, and to love dance for dance sake. I would like to respond a bit to two of the comments below. Heartbeat teaches dance classes, which like classes school if you want to learn and have fun in a safe environment everyone in the class needs to listen otherwise someone could be hurt. It is the responsibility of the teacher to be a role model, provide a safe environment, and of course to teach, but it is not their job to babysit. Dance class teaches respect and team work, not only between the student and teacher, but also between students. I feel lucky to have had all the experiences, all the knowledge that I have gained from the teachers and staff at Heartbeat Studios and I hope this review provided people with a well-rounded view. Come and see how great they are for yourself and decide.

I agree with the previous reviewer. Find another studio. First, you need to know walking in the door the owners act like the most popular girls in high school and run their studio that way-- if youre not part of the "in" crowd, you or your child, wont be treated very respectfully. I have also listened to almost every instructor actually yell at the kids, even 6 or 7 year old children. Im not sure how that will foster a love for dance. At a competitive level, sure, I get that, but not for small children. The "acting class" especially is a HUGE rip-off. They are given about 4-5 weeks of instruction in the fall and then have "try-outs" for the recital (i.e., handing out roles based on your place in the "in" crowd) and then, if your child doesnt get a lead role, you will pay over $100 a month while they mostly sit around and watch rehearsals. There was one month my child only participated in class for about 20 minutes. When I asked why I was paying for my child to sit and watch rehearsal, Kristen blamed her (a 10 year old), saying if she would just pay attention she would learn something from her peers, and that I wouldnt understand "the process" (what she doesnt know is I have been involved in the theater and this is a rehearsal NOT an acting class). Save yourself the time and frustration me and my child experienced and go somewhere else.

As both a student and now a teacher at Heartbeat, I can say nothing but positive things about it. As the studio continues to change and grow, its students gain more and more opportunities from travel to meeting and observing famous and successful dancers. Anyone who is tired of the pressure and strict nature of competition dance, who would rather express themselves and grow as an artist than strive for unity and trophies, should join this studio. And to respond to the two negative comments below, I believe I am familiar with your type attending the school. Any "in-crowd" you may be witnessing may just be students who excel at what they do, and therefore receive more opportunities to move up as they would in any other studio. And as a teacher of the acting class, I can assure you the only time Im yelling it to be heard over chatty kids :)

I have been so very disappointed with this studio for my 7 year old child. The instructor was a great dancer, but was always late to class and didnt work well with the youngsters. The owner has some very serious issues and would place her in the "Diva" category. You know the type-" Im so great, I use to do this, so if you didnt, you know nothing", a very poor role model. We were ripped off by paying $80 for the recital costume- a polyester robe with a mask. When I very nicely questioned the cost- I received attitude and she rolled her eyes at me.Very unprofessional! We just wanted a fun place for our child to learn to respect the art of dance- we will continue to search. This was not the place! I would NOT recommend to anyone!

I have been a student at this studio for a long as I can remember, I barely have any bad memories at this place. I practically grew up at this studio! I spend almost all of my free time here and I couldnt think of any other place to spend it better. I disagree with two of the previous reviews, my family and I have never had problems with the studio owners and I can definitely tell you I do not consider myself as part of the "in-crowd," yet I still find myself getting lead or very important roles in the acting portion of the studio, Kristin (the acting instructot) directly fits the parts to our individual abilities. I feel all the money and time my family and I put into the studio is completely worth it!

Wow, Great Studio!!!!! That is all I can say this dance studio has been the most amazing we have ever worked with! The teachers are bright, creative and full of energy. The passion to teach has been fabulous to my daughter, she has dance there for the last seven years. I as a parent love their approach to be a more theare based performance studio vs the 5,000 dollar per year competition studios. I have watch my daughter go form a little girl dancing to just move and transition to a fantastic challenged ballet, Tap, Jazz and many more styles. My daughter feels lucky to be able to train with the experts.. because that what heartbeat offers! Love this company !!!!

Heartbeat is a wonderful studio that provides a nurturing environment for dancers of all ages. I wouldnt send my children to dance at any other studio! I have been involved with this studio since it opened and I have witnessed first hand the dedication of the owners and staff. Endless hours are spend each year planing and preparing lessons, organizing recital productions and finding opportunities for master classes. Overall, I have truly enjoyed watching countless childrens faces light up each week as they learn to dance and share their new moves with their parents before they leave....the joy on their faces is priceless!

Awesome :) I was a student here from middle school until I finished high school and I took away nothing but great experiences. My teachers were great role models to me; passionate, kind, and creative people. Classes are always taught with mutual respect between the student and teacher, you wouldnt find a class where kids were intimidated or belittled by the teacher. Everyone is encouraged to work together and have fun, and be the best dancer you can. Whether you make dance a big part of your life or not, Heartbeat Studios is still a great outlet to have fun, and feel good about yourself.

I would recommend this studio as being the one place in the Twin Cities that focuses on higher education for the individual persons level of dance. They are welcoming to all who enter the doors and have a world renown staff. The classes are focused on dance education and performance (for life) instead of competition. A diamond in the rough surrounded by the flat suburbs of yesterday this place is going to last for ages, for the fact that it lives in all who listen to their true heart beating. Keep Movin Peace
