WHY DO YOU KEEP CUTTING YOUR HOURS BACK!!!! THERES LITERALLY NO REASON TO CUT YOUR HOURS WHEN ALL YOU NEEDED IN THE PAST WAS ONE FRONT DESK PERSON WORKING TO CHECK PEOPLE IN LATER AT NIGHT. THEY SHOULD TAKE A LITTLE OFF OF THE MONTHLY FEES IF THEYRE CUTTING HOURS. CLOSING AT 10 ON FRIDAYS AND 8 ON WEEKENDS????? IT COST YOU NOTHING BUT PAYING ONE FRONT DESK PERSON TO STAY LATER. THEY FIND ANYWAY TO CUT CORNERS. the faciility is ok I GUESS. i have been a member there since it opened. i was in high school back then on a family plan, now im on my own plan. i will say this gym was way better when it first opened. its not even close. for starters, the gym was open later. i dont get why they keep cutting the gym hours. i htink they should be taking a little off of the monthly fees if they are doing that. the most aggravating part of cutting the hours is that there is literally no extra work that needs to take place to keep open a little longer til 12. when they closed at midnight, all they literally had was 1 worker at the front desk, which was fine, after about 9pm thats they really need is someone to check people in. so cutting the hours makes no sense to me at all. they actually had dryers for clothes that was very convenient. it sounds like a lame complaint, but leaving with wet clothes is annoying and a nuisance. they werent full to capacity, even after a year of being open and having regualr gym goers. there was a good gym goer to space ratio. now, the dryers have been gone for years, probbly didnt want to pay for it. i love leaving with wet clothes! made me avoid pool and hot tub all together. the management was never good. front desk workers eat and talk and ignore you when you walk in. the gym is tooo overcrowded. the only "improvements" they made was adding the personal training area, most likely to attract trainers and gym goers to work with their mediocre trainers. so that area only benefits LA Fitness and their personal trainers. **THERE IS NOT SPACE FOR FREE WEIGHTS OR BARBELL WORKOUTS** the place is not built for the amount of people they have there, at least at the free weight area. if you dont get a bench or you are just doing no bench needed workouts, youll have little to no space. i resorted to taking the weights i need and having to walk like 50 yards to an open space just to work out. all in all, ok place, sure. especially for the price and getting 20$ from insurance. i probably wouldnt pay for it otherwise. if they would just bring back some of the nice conveniences (clothes dryer, etc) and expanded the free weight space, it would solve most of the griping from gym goers.

I received a 3 day guest pass from my sister, so she took me with her to workout. Since I was a guest, they did the typical thing where I had to talk to a representative so the club could get my information and apparently harass me for the rest of my life (but more on that in a bit). The first thing that rubbed me the wrong way was how rude the rep was. I have a really simple/easy phone number; so when he asked for it and I told him what it was, he paused, looked up at me, and said something along the lines of, "Were going to need your REAL phone number...." I assured him it was indeed my number. The real kicker here though was that he CALLED my number minutes later, and I can only assume it was to see if it was real or not. I mean seriously, are you freaking kidding me? I SHOULD HAVE given him a fake though, because I cant stop getting calls from the club. My main beef though was when I was helping my sister train by teaching her some new exercises. Apparently theres been this personal trainer there trying to get my sister to hire her as a trainer, and said trainer did NOT like that I was helping my sister. She came over to us and said, "Whats going on here?" Now I know clubs dont allow outside personal trainers come in and train people, but even after we told her that I was just her brother, she STILL treated me like I was a problem. Then for the rest of the night she was giving us the stink eye. Reminded me of a wolf stalking its prey. The trainer even flagged my sister down at the end to be reassured she was still going to get her business. Seriously...get lost. After this ordeal, I decided to forgo the last 2 days of my free pass to workout at Lifetime. Even though LA Fitness is WALKING distance from my home, I preferred to drive 10 minutes out of my way to go to a place that doesnt have incredibly rude and obnoxious people as employees. Ive been to MANY different clubs of various franchises over the years, and Ive never been treated worse.

The worst part about LA Fitness are the hours. In a world where all its competitors offer 24/7 access LA Fitness confounds its members with varying club hours that make little or no sense. Theyre open until 12pm Monday-Thursday, but on Friday theyre only open until 10pm. On Saturday and Sunday theyre only open until 8pm, which I find inexcusable. As a healthcare professional who frequently works until 10pm or later during the week and on weekends Its virtually impossible get any use out of the gym on weekends or even during the week. I can understand why they close the pool and the basketball courts at 8pm on weekends, but why not leave the gym itself open until midnight, or just leave it open 24hrs per day like all their serious competitors do? Anytime Fitness, Lifetime Fitness, and even Snap Fitness all offer their members 24/7 access. Also, DONT pay the initiation fee they ask for. Theyll try to get you to pay $150 start up fee, but if you protest theyll waive it all together. Dont expect them to provide you with ANY exercise gear either. They dont have any belts for squats, or straps or hooks for shrugs. This angered me because on their website under the frequently asked question: "What do I need to bring to the club to work out?" (FAQs section) They respond: "Bring your membership card, lock and a towel. We’ll take care of the rest." This is utterly and completely false. I asked them about it and they stated they dont provide belts for squats because people steal them, and they wont provide lifting hooks or hand straps because of hygiene related problems. Regardless of their excuses I told them they were being dishonest for failing to provide what they advertised. The staff are very friendly and the equipment they have there is great. Ive always been treated very politely by the people who work there, so at the very least youll get above average service.

The gym itself is not bad, but equipment repairs could be made in a more timely manner. the staff is friendly and the smoothie shop has a decent selection as well. You will want to skip the trainers, we have found them to have deceptive billing practices. While you can do 1 session per month, they try to push you into 3 sessions per week. We were billed for sessions where our trainer had to cancel at the last minute (personal illness, death in the family etc.) and we were also billed for sessions when our trainer had quit and we did not even have a trainer. When we finally did get a new trainer we ended up having 14 sessions voided from our account (14 sessions x $45.00 each = $630.00 lost) We followed the proper complaint processes and it took 6 weeks of checking back before we were told nothing could be done about reinstating our sessions nor refunding the money charged. This also came with the trainers admitting we were fed bad information by a new hire. If you are new to the gym and want to be shown around you are much better off skipping the trainers and just introduce yourself to another member (you could even use someone who is using a trainer.) "Hi my name is ____, I am new here. I see you are using a trainer, can I do your homework with you on the days you are not with a trainer?" This gets you a free trainer/workout partner and you make friends at the same time. The customers will usually treat you like family and are always willing to help a new face. Thinking about canceling in favor of the competition soon.
