This is one classy and fun place to dance! The owners Eliecer and Rebecca Ramirez are very professional and great dancers and teachers. They are creative, colorful and fun. Their staff also is very professional and curteous, attentive to customer service and detailed in their presentation and creative energy. I have known them for over 14 years and as an instructor myself, I can tell you this truthfully, that I have never found anyone to work as hard as Eliecer on both his dancing and his business. Beyond the studio he has reached out to share his love of Salsa to the community in many ways. He is host to the Minnesota Star Ball and has brought people to enjoy the beauty and flavour of his country Costa Rica through the Costa Rica Dance Festivals he hosts back home each year. But you dont have to go that far to feel the charisma of the Costa Rica music and people, just step into their studio in Hopkins and meet them. They are some of the best people I know in the business. You will learn and have fun along the way. From social ballroom to Salsa to competition training, you will get your moneys worth at Costa Rica Ballroom! If you want to learn Salsa, learn from the best and go to the source, I did and am grateful for Eliecers inspiration and influence in my life as a professional dancer.

In preparation for our wedding, my finance and I took our first (and only) dance lesson at the Costa Rica Ballroom. Our instructors name was Rebecca Ramirez. Rebecca was SO, SO, SO approachable! My finance and I were a little timid at first -to say the least- but after about 5 minutes of talking to Rebecca and taking our first steps on the dance floor, we knew we were in good hands. She was so positive, kind and patient. We would mess up repeatedly, but she never showed a trace of irritation or boredom. She even started joking with us and gave us silly little sayings that helped us remember our next steps! For example, Rebecca would shout "Question" when my finance was supposed to raise his hand and lead my under his arm.... it was so funny and extremely helpful. Rebecca knew how to loosen us up and make us feel comfortable. After our lesson, we stuck around and saw Rebecca engage with a different client. The next client was clearly way more advanced than we were. I was shocked to see how quickly Rebecca adapted from teaching a couple of rookies to teaching and (AND EVEN LEADING) a full grown man of his talent and caliber. I give Costa Rica Ballroom "A MUST GO." We will be back, and hope we get Rebecca again!!

I really cannot say enough positive things about Eli. We came to him for help with a first dance for our wedding and from the beginning he helped figure out what we wanted (we only had very vague ideas) and what would be reasonable given our time frame (about 6 weeks). I had a very little dance background (i.e., a couple of Zumba classes here and there) and my fiance had no background. Eli is an amazing teacher and met us where we were at. When we did not understand, he showed us in a different way, and when we still didnt understand, he would come up with yet another way until it made sense. He was patient, flexible and gave us personal attention that made us feel like he was very invested in us as individuals, and in helping us feel ready for our wedding, rather than just another lesson to get through to get paid. We actually tried another studio first and the experience was completely different. It felt very impersonal and it did not feel like they were listening to what we wanted. Eli made us comfortable from the beginning and we feel as ready as we can be for our wedding next week!

The atmosphere that Eli creates in his dance studio is warm and welcoming. He is understanding, patient, and very good at what he does. My wife and I chose Costa Rica Ballroom and have no regrets. We came in there knowing nothing, not even the song that would be for our first dance (she was still my fiancée at the time). Eli took the time to help us pick out a song and even edit it a little. We were learning the waltz. His creativity made simple movements look wonderful. Within a few trips to his studio we felt confident that out of all the weddings this year, we were going to have the best first dance. We were slightly intimidated at first since we have never danced like this before and had absolutely no dancing background, but Eli made the experience a positive one with his great sense of humor, expert skill, and positive attitude. My fiance and I started with 2 private lessons for $99. We took our private lessons with Rebecca and she was great. She was patient with us and very encouraging. We learned the basics of the foxtrot, waltz, single swing, and club salsa. The Private lesson were the most beneficial to us. The group lessons reinforce and review what you learn in the private lessons and also give you an opportunity to switch partners if you want (they encourage switching but you dont have to if you dont feel comfortable). In the practice session, they turn the lights down and it is like a dance party. The instructors float around and give you tips or help you if they notice you doing something wrong. Also, at each practice session, a couple of the instructors demonstrate each of the learning levels, and they look awesome floating across the dance floor. We love Costa Rica Ballroom.

Rebecca and Eli are genuinely caring people and phenomenally gifted dance instructors. They both are incredibly warm, patient, understanding, observant, insightful, and kind people with many years of experience competing and teaching at the highest levels in the dance world. The people I have met at Costa Rica Ballroom are all really fun and friendly. The great atmosphere, and the fact that Eli and Rebecca each have a wonderful sense of humor, lead me to laugh and smile my way through every class, always leaving feeling upbeat and with a sense of accomplishment. I started lessons recently after taking some group classes through the years but never retaining much. Eli is a dedicated instructor who understands that everyone learns differently. He makes learning fun and challenging, never rushing or having anything but patience for beginning students. If you are an experienced dancer looking to hone your skills this is also a great studio as Eli has an incredible background in competitive dance and choreography. He knows his stuff and he will help you achieve whatever dance goals you set for yourself. If youve thought about dancing but dont know where to start, Costa Rica Ballroom is the place.

Costa Rica Ballroom performs miracles! Never did I think I could ballroom dance because I am so uncoordinated. I have always wanted to learn but thought it would be impossible even though we had tried. My husband is a good dancer and talked me into giving it lessons another try. We were lucky to discover Costa Rica Ballroom and then even luckier to have Rebecca as our instructor. She is so patient and always joyous. She encourages her students and gently corrects missteps without making me feel embarrassed. She has managed something no one else has ever done. I can now competently and confidently dance a number of dances. Now I actually even enjoy dancing. This has turned out to be a gentle, safe and extremely fun exercise for two members of the senior crowd.
