My friend signed me up for a month pass for La Fitness. We went together on Friday evening July 25. It was supposed to be a good time for my friend and I to spend a weekend evening together. Yet it turned out so frustrating and upsetting!! This general manager, whose name is Mat kept my ID for over two hours, and drilled us on questions before we took a fitness class. When we asked him about the promotion we received via email, he answered it was impossible. He said:" the corporation will not give this promotion." Until my friend showed him the email on our smart phone, he still repeated that it was impossible. After the cycling class and some rest, we went to Mat to get back my ID. He asked us to wait. Till he walked out and he asked: "Are you guys in a hurry". I said : "Yes". He said:" If you are in a hurry, then you shouldnt have the one-month pass, instead, you can have one-day pass." We couldnt understand why, and how this makes sense for us, since my friend has signed me up for a month pass 2 weeks ago. We tried to talk to him that it didnt not make sense to us. But he simply told us goodbye. We further want to talk to someone else, and he refused to tell us his supervisors name. Furthermore, he asked his employee not to tell us information about his supervisor. I understand he is the general manage of the building, but does he have all these rights treat us this way? The whole thing makes my friend no longer wanting to continue the membership with La Fitness, and it also backs me off from considering become a member of this place. It is sad when you are treated this way.

When I came here on Labor Day of 2014 I was 270 lbs and I believed I was on a hopeless track of forever gaining more weight and getting weaker every year. I was becoming really incapable of enjoying life due to my deteriorating strength and stamina. Despite being skeptical of fitness clubs (I had never been in one) I decided to walk in anyway. The staff were very polite and did not do any high-pressure stuff. They explained to me carefully what was possible if I stuck with their program and used one of their trainers. I didnt believe them, but signed on for lack of any better ideas. I am so glad I did. One year and five months later I am down to 250 lbs and I already feel 20 years younger, even though I still have a long way to go to get to my goal. I am on track to be down to 240 by my second anniversary this coming Labor day. And thats just my NET weight loss, because I have put on probably 5 lbs of muscle, which means Ive probably lost a total of 25 lbs of fat. Kudos to my trainer (David I.) who shows me exactly how to do each exercise for maximum benefit - I could NOT have done this without his guidance. I do not generally believe in magic but I do now believe there is a Fountain of Youth. I will soon be 61 but I feel like Im 40 again. In another year I expect to feel like Im 30. Thank you LA Fitness Hopkins!! By the way, there is a big downside to this place: Im going to have to replace my wardrobe because almost all my clothes are too big for me.

NOT SAFE! I was playing basketball with my friend here and he was assaulted by a group of people for no reason what so ever and seriously injured. The staff did not help him as they were friends with the assailants and helped them get away. They also refused to call the police and I had to call them on my own even though my friend was UNCONCIUOS! LA Fitness refuses to help him as he was in the hospital and has large medical bills. LA Fitness wont even call him back although this happened over a month ago. They still charged his credit card for membership dues even though he was too injured to go to the gym due to the injuries he got WHILE AT THE GYM. This place is ghetto and irresponsible. I canceled my membership and I will never go back. How did they let this happen and now do nothing to make it better? They just want your $30 a month and do not care about their members. Back to Lifetime Fitness for me as I’d rather pay the additional $25 a month and not get assaulted and treated this way from a dishonest an irresponsible company. DO NOT GO HERE!

Ive been a member of the gym for over a year, its been decent enough. Free weights, decent selection of machines but at peak times and if a machine is broken good luck getting the machine you want. Also dont ever work-out with a friend or they will accuse you of training and demand that you stop even though they have no proof and no money is exchanging hands between my friend and I for the workout. They might even ask you things like, "If your friend wasnt here would you even know what youre doing on the machines?" Yes, I would Ive been coming here for over a year and I can read plenty of books on lifting and getting in shape to gain said information. Staff tends to be sleazy and always have high pressure sales, 3-day passes or any other promotion never works either. They will charge you for everything, $15 day pass, registration, nickel and dime you. There are some good eggs in the bunch but they are a rarity at this gym. I know if I get accused of training again when Im just working out with my friend I will find another gym.

The price is right. I mostly go to this club because of the location to my home. Its alright. Kinda have to understand what youre getting. Its not the best but not the worst. Basically only keeping my membership because of the basketball court. Kinda wish theyd have more hoops or two courts but I understand they arent a mega gym like lifetime. During peak hours its tough to get a good quality workout because weights and machines are busy for a long time. At least in my experience here. Lots of people hogging the weights like squirrels scavenging enough food for winter. Kinda obnoxious. My biggest annoyance is no WIFI. its 2015 la. Get Wi-Fi. It also kinda smells at this location. People are weird as hell in the sauna too. Saw the same dude sleeping in it three days straight. Weird as hell.

I really enjoyed my experience at this location. The pool and hot tub area are clean and large, in fact the hot tub is one of the biggest Ive ever seen in a LA Fitness. This is a two-level facility, making it feel extra spacious inside. There were plenty of machines open; granted I did go in the early afternoon so it wasnt exactly a busy time. The staff was friendly as well. My main reason for this being only 4 stars is because its really strange how the pool has windows that overlook the workout area. Its pretty awkward to be swimming in the pool and to accidentally make eye contact with someone making a goofy face while lifting heavy weights right outside the window. I think the design couldve been much better and more comfortably. Overall, it was a positive experience, I will return.
