I wouldnt necessarily say I am a customer of "Salon Onyx" but rather a customer of my "Stylist". I will agree there was a period of time where they seemed to have problems with an employee who has been gone now from the company for a couple of years. She was doing things which caused her to lose her job. But since that time I have always been greated warmly at the door, offered beverages, assistance with hanging up my coat and always asked if there was anything which they could be assistance. If you have a stylist who did not meet your expectations, you should not blame the entire salon. If you like the location/prices/products and the way you are greeted, simply try another stylist! Let the manager know your reasons you were unhappy with the stylist, and tell them the type of person you are looking for and they are more than willing to suggest someone else for your service. I am disabled. I use a power wheelchair and have a service dog who accompanies me everywhere I go (as far as I know, I am their only disabled customer). I have never been "belittled" or "patronized" in any way by any of their staff as well as stylists. I have always felt just as important as any of their other customers who walk through their door! I adore my stylist, and I even followed her from the place she came from before! She is THAT good! Where can you find a salon with "50th and France" professionalism, quality and use of products in a small town that maintains the small town/warm home, feel? If you feel youve been treated unfairly, or that your complaint was not heard and the staff/stylists dont care if you come back or not for another service, then you havent been to a salon in the "50th & France" neighborhood! I know, from personal experience... Just because you pay $85.00+ for your haircut, doesnt mean its going to be a haircut you can hardly wait to "show off". And if you would like some curls added to your haircut that you paid $85.00 for, it will cost you an additional $50.00 just for your stylist to pick up the curling iron! Salon Onyx is a place where you always feel welcome, and important! They appreciate your patronage and love to see you come back. Like I said, if your stylist is the problem, talk to the manager. I can promise you this, you will have to look very hard to find a salon in this area that not only higher stylists with the "50th &France" caliber/quality, but are also from the "50th & France" location area, who grew tired of overcharging their customers and competing with one another about who had the wealthiest/most well-known/influential clients! At Salon Onyx, Ive always felt not only did my opinion matter but I (who I am inside) matter! Everyone has an "off" day. We shouldnt make judgments based on one incident only.

Went there for over 7 years, the prices just got more and more expensive. Every time I went, My hair didnt change much, always seemed to look the same--despite me asking for low lights, or highlights, i couldnt discern a difference. they always cut off more than what you ask for--my mother and i have had this both happen multiple times. I decided to try and go for a balayage to change things up--and ended with almost black roots (im very blonde) with no transition into blonde. I dont know what she was thinking, but every friend and person who i let see the it laughed or was incredulous as to how an experienced hairdresser thought it looked good. O was so embarassed that I wore a baseball hat for a week before i found the time and got it fixed at a coles salon. that horrible experience cost me $180 for something i was so embarassed that I wore a hat for a week for and cried when I got in my car after getting. My humble advice is to try other salons--i was scared to try coles, but theyre a much better deal for the same quality of service, and were more than helpful to fix a mishap that wasnt even their doing.

Had Groupon that I paid for online Groupon said I would be charged extra for extra color. Didnt say anything about toner or anything. I paid 138 dollars thats with my Groupon a lot of miscommunication. My color came out good. The place is really dirty of you look hard enough. Shelves have dust all over them. The sinks are so gross the nosils in the sinks are corroded. They dont sanitize anything there like the sinks or chairs. This one stylist washed off her combs and didnt sanitize them. Another stylist just brushed off her clippers didnt even spray them with andis when it was sitting right there next to her. Another stylist dropped something on the floor and continued to use it. I will not be back thats for sure.

Over the past few months I have been wrestling with proper beard care. This struggle has left me feeling empty and with thoughts of returning to the drab baby-face I matured from. This was my dark reality until a recent visit to Salon Onyx. The direction and support Amy gave my lackluster beard is something only a true professional can provide. Without Amy and her facial hair enthusiasm my beard would be but a sparse outcrop of hair. I am now more confident than ever that I can obtain the luscious thick beard any man would dream of. Thanks again Amy and I look forward to your continued support!

Margie cut my hair. The cut was ok, but she rushed through the whole thing. She washed, cut, and straightened my hair in about 20 minutes. There was no one waiting after me. She really didnt even style my hair, she just ran the flat iron over it. She didnt take time to show me products she used that I was very interested in purchasing. If I have to pay that much to get my hair cut, I would like to get some one who at least acted like they cared about their customer. Will probably go back to that salon, but not to her. The salon was clean and modern and the receptionists were friendly.

In my opinion any negative review about Salon Onyx is an anomaly. The owner down to the staff (that I have interacted with) has reciprocated the same amount of respect and friendliness I show them. Salon Onyxs operation is professional and well run. I have been a customer of theirs for the past 2 years and that will continue. You will notice at the time of this posting the only negative feedback for Salon Onyx references issues with applying Groupons and NOT the outcome of services performed. I strongly encourage those reading this review that are undecided to give Salon Onyx a try.

I was introduced to Salon Onyx through Groupon as a gift. Upon arrival for my appointment, Salon Onyx refused to honor my Groupon, citing that I have "too much hair". I was told that I need to pay around $300 to obtain the very services listed on the Groupon voucher. Ridiculous. Regardless of whether Salon Onyx routinely bait-and-switch potential customers or if the stylists and management there are simply incompetent does not matter to me. There was no mention of limits on hair length on the advertisement or voucher. Completely unprofessional.

Since Im a guy, I never took very good care of my hair besides using my wifes hair products occasionally. I usually chose to get a $7.99 haircut. After my wife got her hair cut and colored, she suggested I give Salon Onyx a try. Lindsay cut my hair, washed it, and took the time to re-groom me before styling my hair. I was able to go directly back to work without feeling itchy all day. I wont go any where else from now on! They create a very welcoming atmosphere and know their stuff.
