Unprofessional CROOKS, General Manager Dan OBrien is an incompetent, scumbag bully who humiliated my sister and resorted to calling the security guard to escort her out after refusing her service (VIP pass). I am NEVER going to have a LA Fitness Membership ever again nor recommend them to anyone. Ask anyone, their sales team is pushy and rude. Their managers are dimwitted and unhelpful. DONT BOTHER signing up with these guys. Theyll try to con you and make things like guess passes and VIP passes a living hell for you. They will annoyingly, relentlessly call and harass everyone you add to your VIP list or "referral list." I added my sister to my VIP list in July 2016 and she never got around to using it. When I re-added her in October 2016 and she tried to use either VIP pass, they denied her and rudely yelled at her. They told her "if youre not interested in getting a membership, YOU ARE WASTING OUR TIME." We have email proof stating the policy on VIP passes. "A 14 day VIP Guest Pass is attached to this email. Please bring the attachment to the club and allow us to show you the club and activate your complimentary 14 consecutive day pass." The website ALSO explicitly states that "Each of your VIP guests will receive 14 consecutive days of club usage from the date of their first visit to use the club and work out as many time as they want during that period... Limit one guest pass per person every six months." My sister never got around to visiting the club nor activating the pass in July at all. She has never activated any guest pass before. When she tried to finally activate her VIP pass, the douche bag General Manager, Dan OBrien gave multiple excuses as to why she couldnt use it. First he said that she had already activated it but she never did. Theres no proof that she ever came in, registered, nor signed the liability form. Then he said that my account didnt allow for VIP passes. But it did, and its still a feature from my mobile app too. Then (third time) he said it was because she can only be issued one every six months. LA Fitness Corporate Member Services confirmed that VIP guess passes should NEVER expire if not activated. So they lied all three times, claiming she activated it, that my account didnt have VIP passes, and that she couldnt use the unactivated VIP pass from July. WHAT A SCAM. Deceitful and incompetent, they CONTRADICT their own policies. This is a quote literally from Xander at LA Fitness Corporate Member Services: "We can do whatever we want. We are a private company and we have the right to refuse service to anyone we want." Dont believe me? The conversations are recorded when you call corporate. I called Member Services multiple times and Chris, Craig, and Xander were all royal, unhelpful jackasses. Too bad all of our conversations were recorded and I have escalated the issue up to management (via a female Member Services manager) who will review them now. I have also opened a complaint with LA Fitness on Better Business Bureau. I suggest you do as well when you run into an issue with them. I DO NOT RECOMMEND LA FITNESS TO ANYONE. Unless you want lousy service, empty guest pass promises, stanky locker rooms, outdated equipment, unprofessional managers and pushy sales peopoe...

So far this facility has been messy and unprofessional. I havent even had a chance to work out yet and I am already frustrated with the incompetence of the staff. I joined under my partners membership a week ago and as we were on our way out, we realized that we were never given a receipt. We went back to get a receipt and staff told us that they couldnt access it for some unknown reason and that we would have to come back later to get it in-person or they could email it to us. The receipt never arrived via email and mid-week, my partner noticed that they were charged twice for my activation fee. My partner called to inquire and was informed that something happened with the system and when we initially signed up none of the documents that I had signed were ever saved. I received two calls back to back shortly after this and was told that I needed to come back in to re-sign all of the new member paperwork right away. It was very strange to us that no paperwork went through, but 2 payments were posted to my partners account. Im currently working to cancel my membership altogether since no documents were officially signed. It just comes off as shady business. I specifically want to name staff member Damon from this gym as being the driver of all this confusion. He calls clients from his cell phone regularly, leaving no record of the conversations that hes had with clients and overall he is incredibly incompetent in his role. Super shady and super unprofessional.

Well, Im generally pretty happy with paying $30 a month, and have been with them for years, and I will freeze my account in the summer. I just tried to do that, and my billing cycle was on the 24th of June... its the 27th, and they said that they cant pro-rate it and that Ill have to pay until the 24th of July. I find it hard to believe they cant pro-rate it, and was told that when I come in again I can just get checked in and it will unfreeze automatically and the start date with be pro-rated. Im just bitching about it, but come on, thats ridiculous. I go a lot in the winters, but Im debating about cancelling for the first time as to be frank, it really pisses me off that they cant accommodate pro-rating for freezing.

When signing up, the sales person explains the contract verbally and has you sign on an e-reader without words. One of those signatures you sign says verbal contracts dont matter and paper cant be disputed. When I asked if I could cancel if I lost my job or proved I couldnt pay, he said of course. Not true. Rediculous prices, crowded gym that wasnt vented at all. I got the personal training, which is not worth the price, appointments must be cancelled 2 days in advance. My first trainer pointed to a member on the treadmill and said "you dont want to be that skinny, do you? Thats gross". Most staff was friendly, stay away from training. They exist to make money from you, thats all.

To the management:It is not cleaned overnight, why? Trash left around, why? Empty cups, paper towels all over the place. To the gym goers: Weights are hardly ever re-racked? You leave your trash everywhere? You stopped showering? I go at 5 am because I assume 5pm its a zoo. When I arrive at 5am a couple of expectations: its open... Its clean... All weights are re-racked. They start the cleaning from the night before at 5am. Someone should be there for AT LEAST an hour after close to tidy up the trash and weights and then really start the cleaning cleaning at 5am. Management is somewhat of a joke. Regular employees are nice and friendly.

Only reason for using gym is location, VERY SMALL, OVER CROWDED, NOT MAINTAINED. Have used many locations around the Metro and this is by far the smallest, uncleanly and most unfriendly. The employees have attitudes, dont expect much of anything other than taking up a lot of space with their clients. Toilettes are clogged most of the time, always out of paper towels for cleaning equipment, and sauna has been broken for over a month. It is almost like management has taken a back seat to basic cleaning and maintenance, and focused all the attention of gyms staff to pressuring potential new clients for an already overcrowded environment.
