I was working out with my sons father & my son in the stroller next to us sleeping. This lady approached us very rudely saying how I cant work out with my son right there when I have been doing it for months at multiple YMCA locations. My sons father is handicapped he needs my help. We dont feel comfortable leaving our son in the daycare, he simply was just sleeping. We are never in the way. She was yelling at us in front of everyone is that really needed? Saying how its the policy ect, if it is then why is this my first time hearing about it? When I asked a different employee that I see regularly during the night he said he has no clue if it is or isnt a policy. She can see me talking to him from the level below starts yelling again how its the policy I need to leave. I kept talking to the employee who I was originally talking to he apologized for the way she acted. When asked to speak to a manager she claims that there is none on staff. Rude makes me never want to come back, since then I have not seen this lady. I have not heard a response from any management on this.

I started off participating in the water exercise classes. Eventually I started doing my own thing in the open swim pool area. More room to move freely. Then I started to use the equipment upstairs to strengthen my knee. I had a total knee replacement and being advised by my physical therapist, started doing exercises to strengthen my hip, leg, and knee. Im finally free from using a cane! PTL! I was swimming 3 times a week and the other 2 days working out for about 45-1 hour on the equipment. I ride the bicycle for 30 minutes. I had to buy padded bike shorts cuz the seat was killing my butt. That has helped. So far interacting with all the staff, they are All very friendly, courteous, and professional. I found out their secret why theres alot of seniors that attend...Medicare pays for their membership. And soon I will enjoy that benefit! Yay! I signed up for a class too recently and am looking forward to that.

The facility is fine. I have taken some personal training courses and really liked the personal trainer. My son has taken swim lessons there, and the quality of instructors has really went down. They dont have enough people working and dont seem to be hiring skilled/experienced teachers. My son took a toll when his teacher was switched mid-session. They focus very less on showing techniques to kids. My son took Eel and was told to repeat because he could not swim on his own. Well, what do you expect when the instructor is not even teaching how to do strokes properly. Show the kids how to move the arms etc. Instead of gazing at the clock so often. I decided to pull him out and will be going to another place. Called to complain to the program co-ordinator and failed to get the response i was expecting from someone managing the program.

Facility was crowded and dirty. Staff was unhelpful and rude. One day I was told that my 5 day pass had commenced, and I exercised in a facility that was subpar. The ellipticals were dirty, and the weight lifting area was crowded. I had to wait 15 minutes to use one of the 2 barbells. But I decided to give it one more try, the next day I came in, Nicole refused my entry because the pass hadnt been entered correctly in the system. I showed Nicole my valid email confirmation. She still refused my entry. I have never seen a greater debacle at a fitness facility. Bring your business to lifetime fitness, or anytime fitness, where they at least honor their promises of their free trials, and have clean facilities.

We recently canceled after being members for about a year. We were paying $114/ mo for 2 adults. The only thing at the Y we used was the gym. Which, IMO, isnt worth $114/ mo. Maybe if you have kids or can use some of the other services the Y offers it might be worth that price. But all we wanted was a gym. If I was going to pay that much again for a gym membership Id rather pay a little more and go to Lifetime Fitness, which has much better facilities. It would be nice if you could just pay for the services you wanted. Like if there was a membership that only included the gym. The staff were always really nice, but for us it just wasnt a good value.

A very rude man yell at me a 16 year old for playing in the gym because I would not move for their game of basketball ... the man then grabbed my basketball and said leave and became very aggressive towards me ... I asked if that man worked there... people who I know worked their said no the man doesnt work there... I will NOT come back to YMCA ... I do not recommend YMCA for young children or anyone ... staff SAID THEY WOULD do something about the situation but did not

I set up a meeting with Sam to get a tour this last Friday. I showed up 15 minutes early and went to the front desk and they proceeded to tell me that Sam was scheduled off that day. The guy at the front just told me to sit and wait and maybe Sam would show up. I waited, and waited and he never showed, so I left because I didnt have time to sit around and wait. Not the greatest first impression I was expecting from the YMCA.

Not as nice as the Forest Lake and the other newer northern facility. Better than Ridgedale, Southdale, Shoreview locations but Shoreview has a nice outdoor pool but not hot tub. New free weight area cable and circuit machines. Almost always busy all areas day or night unless before 9am. Best hot tub of most the Y locations. Large senior program. Check pool.schedules before you come as tons of classes

We only went to the pool as guests, but the pool was great. Shallow side for non-swimmers, deeper side for swimmers, and separate Lanes for swimming laps. Hot tub for those over age 15, and sauna too. Plenty of lifeguards around. Family changing rooms as well as male and female, with lockers. Water noodles for everyone to use. We had a great time!

The staff are welcoming from the front door to upstairs. If you would like to be part of a community the Y is a great place to start. The mornings are gauranteed coffee and conversation with someone. I enjoy bringing my young kids and hanging out in the lobby with the Silver Sneaker crowd and seeing them smile at the girls and vice versa!

I love our YMCA! Friendly staff, great facility, a variety of classes and activities! I believe day passes ARE available for those who wish to try it out. We were offered some when we went to get our membership but we declined them because we had already decided to join. Burnsville is lucky to have this great community asset!

Nice facility and good for the community with the services and amenities they offer. The staff was pretty friendly as well. My only complaint would be that they do not have single day passes available. So if someone wants to use the facility to see if they like it, they wont be able to. Other than that, its a good place!
