Furnace was acting up on coldest day in Minnesota in 20 years. Limit switch was opening and I could only get the house up to 62F. I called Stafford Monday AM because of the good reviews I read on google and it was local. I got an appointment for Thursday AM for replacement furnace estimate. I set up several other appointments for estimates from 3 other close by HVAC places. Then the furnace completely stopped working. Didnt even attempt a cycle. Called SHS to see if I could move up the Replacement Estimate Appointment for that day because my furnace had completely stopped woriking. Person on phone must have misunderstood me and she actually scheduled a service appointment for 2 hours later. I was thinking that Salesman Dan was going to show up. Instead, a repairmant showed up. This guy was not able to give me an estimate. Well at least I would get the furnace fixed and may not even need a replacement this year. That is what I was thinking. The repairman replaced blown fuse and furnace ran through cycle but would eventually flame went out after a few minutes. Error code on controller board had 5 blinks which said gas valve may be faulty. He cleaned the filter thinking that there was insufficient air flow. Furnace ran longer, maybe 10 minutes and furnace guy thought problem solved. Not so, maybe an hour later, flame went out and when I cycled power, burner turned on for maybe 1-2 minutes and then went out. Then eventually, error code 4 blinked (limit switch) and burner never lit again. It was long cold night. Luckily I had space heater. A couple hours after SHS left, I had an appointment from DuctWorksMN and got an estimate with a good price on a Bryant System. The DuctWorksMN salesman explained importance of air flow and Im guessing that roof vent was problem with air flow and why flame kept extinguishing. Anyway I ordered new system from DuctWorksMNsalesman next day because I couldnt really wait any longer. The furnace repairman from SHS really didnt seem confident in diagnosing the problem but didnt have any problem with charging me $152 for the call. Like I said, within an hour later of leaving, the furnace stopped working. I called SHS next day and reported that furnace failed after their repairman left, and that I needed to cancel Thurdsays appointment with SHS Salesman because I had ordered system from another company. She said thanks for the information and that was it. I was kind of hoping for more, like maybe a refund (even partial). I probably should have told her that I was expecting Dan the Salesman to show up on Monday.

Dan Fournier was outstanding and we couldnt be happier with the results of all of the work done for us by Stafford. We live in a 1913 house with all its attendant quirks, and Dan worked with us from start to finish, providing sensible, cost-effective suggestions for all of the work we needed done. Their follow-through was outstanding, from the initial bid to the completed rebate forms we needed simply to sign and mail in (in the postage-paid envelopes they provided). We received four bids for the furnace/hot water replacements; Staffords was last and we had yet to meet with anyone we trusted to do such central/fundamental work to our house, but Dan seemed -- and proved to be -- trustworthy and excellent. Their bid was thorough, and though their price wasnt least expensive, we had no qualms about going with them. We had many questions and exchanged many many emails but Dan patiently answered them all. The installations were all completed when and within the time frame stated. Stafford promises to stand by their work and we had the opportunity to see that this was true, as one of the dusk-to-dawn switches didnt work right and they came right out and replaced it; the duct installed was not quite straight and had tape in the middle though wed said it would be exposed in the room and Dan thought of an alternative solution which they promptly re-installed; and they did not give up until they resolved an odd pipe sound apparently caused by the furnace and hot water work they did, even to the point of arranging for a trusted plumber to look at the problem who resolved the noise. Weve had a lot of work done on our house this year and used Angies List successfully to find really great providers. But for this series of jobs, it was almost impossible to find the kind of unanimous As wed come to expect as the hallmark of excellence, and several of the best reviewed providers dont work in Minneapolis. The problems within the work that we described above are apparently quite common in the kind of work we had done. So it seems especially important to emphasize Staffords flat-out tenacity to make things absolutely right, which is what makes them above all a company we recommend without reservation and would gladly and enthusiastically use again.

Stafford Home Service has been a fantastic company to work with and I have recommended them time and again to friends and family. I used Stafford for all of my electrical reconfiguration when remodeling my home. They rewired my kitchen lights (as they were not up to code) and wired my entire bathroom as well as other areas to make certain I was within code. In addition, all my venting for a new bathroom as well as an alarm system was completed by the Stafford team. Their continued service over the past two years with various maintenance and some furnace issues I’ve had (they came out on New Years Day to fix my furnace) has been top notch and they are consistently courteous and quickly fix any ongoing maintenance issues I have had to date. Stafford has always been reliable and on time (sometimes even early!) which is important to me and always clean up after their work is completed which is just another testament to their professionalism. The Stafford team is trustworthy and helpful in making sure their customers understand the work that is needed and make certain it is done correctly. Thank you Stafford for the continued high level of service! ~Natasha G.

We are thrilled with the work that Stafford performed in our home. We had always been unhappy with the lightning plan in our remodeled kitchen and library (to the point where it affected our quality of life), but after talking to several professionals, it seemed that any improvements would require a new remodel. Otherwise, we were told that we were stuck with the lighting. After almost giving up, my husband read a positive review of Stafford Lighting and decided to give them a call. Kris showed up and provided us with several reasonable suggestions that required absolutely no remodeling whatsoever. The team was fast, tidy, and courteous and in a day and a half, the rooms have been transformed. We are so pleased with our experience that we will definitely hire Stafford in the future as well as check out the other types of services the company provides. Our only regret is that we didnt call them sooner.

This company came to my home and said I needed a new AC unit. They did not diagnose the issue at all. (I was a American Home Shield member) and this was the company they sent out. One month after they came out, I had another tech from American Home shield come out and the issue was the AC Drip Pan in my unit was completely rusted out. $500.00 later issue was resolved. Be weary of their offers of "service visits" as they are most likely going to sell you on something you dont need. Today they called offering a $100.00 tune up and I could not life of me remember their company name. Thanks for the reminder so I could write this review! American Home Shield ended up refunding me your service call charge so all is well1
