Ice Cream Ice Cream!! Who screams for Ice Cream? Of course I do! Ive heard many good things about Grand Ole Creamery from my buddies in the College of Pharmacy! I just havent had a chance to try it until recently. My girlfriend and I were in the area and was craving some ice cream. Weve been going to Izzys in St. Paul, which is delicious and worth trying if you havent been yet, but wanted to try somewhere new. We both hate Sebastian Joes, so that will never be an option. We decided to give Grand Ole Creamery a shot! Its located in a very nice suburban neighborhood near Saint Paul. Its right down on grand, which is filled with lots of good eateries like Cafe Latte. Amazing. I just love that part of Saint Paul. Its very calm, soothing, very nice place to chill. Upon entrance, you will most likely be greeted with a fairly long line, especially on nice summer days! The line can be a little slow, but it will be well worth the wait!! Upon entrance, you can smell the aroma of them making the waffle cones! It smells like heaven..all that butter and cream in the air. Amazing smell. We decided to try a few different flavors while we were there. We sampled the birthday cake, sweet cream and Black Hills Gold. After sampling, we decided to get 2 single scoops. My girlfriend got the birthday cake and I got the Black Hills Gold. They were both outstanding to me. So good!!! The birthday cake was really good. It was perfectly sweetened, unlike the overly sweet ones they make at Cold Stones Creamery. It truly tasted like my birthday while eating birthday cake flavor ;). So good. I got the Black Hills Gold, which was a very rich version of cookies and cream. That one was really good too. I usually dont eat or like Cookies and Cream, but upon sampling, I fell in love with this one. Black Hills Gold was very good! Its probably not the healthiest option, but man, was that one good!! Lastly, we both got it on the waffle bowl. We couldnt resist the smell. It just smelled so good, we had to get it. However, it wasnt that great. Partly was probably due to the fact that the waffle got soggy by the time we finished the ice cream. Id probably recommend the cone version if you want to try the waffle. The waffle isnt that special. I dont think Ill ever come across a cone as good as Ici Ice Cream in Berkeley. Man do I miss that place, but until then I will have to stick with Izzys and Grand Ole Creamery. I highly recommend Izzys and Grand Ole Creamery over the unoriginal Sebastian Joes. There is nothing special about Sebastian Joes. Id rather eat OTC Talenti or Haagen Daz than Sebastian Joes. If you want to try some unique flavors then go to Izzys. Though Grand Ole Creamery does have some different flavors like Taro, but a lot of their flavors are similar to each other. They have like 3/4 different takes of Cookies and Cream, which all taste similar to each other. Go to Grand Ole Creamery if you want high quality traditional ice cream flavors. You cant go wrong with either Grand Ole Creamery or Izzys, but you will go wrong if you go to Sebastian Joes.

I am an ice cream addict so when a group of friends suggested going here one hot summer night, I was eager to try it. The line was out of the door and down the street when we arrived and I assumed that was a good sign. We waited for quite awhile. Once inside, they had their flavors listed on a board on the wall for everyone to view. There were maybe only twelve flavors listed and I assumed the heat was causing them to possibly run out of ice cream. Staff were yelling at people wanting to take their order. I order Strawberry, something safe and a good indicator of how their other ice cream flavors would be. It was awful. It was completely flavorless! I refused to eat it. I could have handled not liking their ice cream, but after I ordered, and walked down the isle to pay, I noticed in their freezers that they numerous flavors of ice cream NOT listed on their sign! I felt pressured to hurry up and order, ordered what I thought was the best choice from my options only to find out the experience COULD have been so much better. I did not understand WHY a business would not have all of their flavors listed for their customers. I was completely annoyed and would never recommend this place to anyone.

I took my son here after school for a slice of pizza and a dish of ice cream before his Karate class. I ordered 1 slice of pizza and when I went to pay for it with my debit card, was told in an irritable manner that they do not take cards for purchases less than $5. Since I did not have any cash on me, I offered to write a check, but was smirked at by the owner of this place and told to go to the ice cream side and pick out ice cream and pay for the pizza and ice cream over there with my debit card. When I went to the ice cream side I ordered the ice cream and then tried to pay for both the pizza and ice cream as instructed, but the guy on the ice cream side had no idea how to accept my payment for the pizza and ice cream. I stood there awkwardly for several minutes while this poor guy tried to figure it out. The owner came over and said something rudely to the poor guy, who still didnt figure it out. I ended up paying with my debit card, but think I only paid for the ice cream. I was really put off by the attitude of the owner and will not be frequenting this establishment in the future.

The Grand Ole Creamery has some great ice cream, Cookie Monster is my favorite, but if you have a peanut allergy, you need to be weary. Most people that think that the employees are trained on how to deal with peanut and other nut allergies, but they arent. Really, there is just a sign for the employees over the toppings cart that says "Allergy alert! Keep peanuts and other nuts out of the other toppings." It is not the fault of the 15 year old working at the shop, they most likely havent had the experience necessary for dealing with this kind of allergy. It can all be safe if you ask for a brand new scooper, ice cream from the back, and a brand new cone. If you have a mild peanut allergy, asking for a new scooper will be fine, but dont assume just because the people working there are in the food industry that they will know how to deal with allergies, you need to advocate for yourself.

The place is amazing! Nothing but that feeling of going back into time once your at this place. Once you walk through the door, the fresh smell of cones being made take over your senses and bring back those memories. The employee are nothing short of stellar! And a FYI, dont forget to sample a few of the flavors to get the taste buds going. *you will need to and want to with so many options ;)* the place is clean and the serving and flavors are always consistent. This is what you look for when you are at a Creamery. Consistency is key. The staff by the name of Sammy was so helpful. She asked me if I was alergic to anything and was willing to help me find a choice. I ended up with black hills gold ( their #1 seller) and this place sold me. I will for sure stop by again and treat myself!!
