We hired Steve Solensten of Solencraft Woodworking on 1/27/2015 to build a custom entertainment center. At that time he told us that the project would take 1-1.5 days to install and 4-6 weeks to build. Finally, seven weeks later, Steve came to install the unit on 3/12/2015. He arrived at 8:30am and left at 12:30pm because of a personal errand. He left our house in a complete mess with tools and debris everywhere. He returned on 3/13/2015 at approx. 8:30am and again left our house at 12:00 noon because he stated he was to stressed out to work anymore. During the time he did work, he managed to damage our wood trim in an area that had nothing to do with the entertainment center. He used a power saw on our carpet and left screws, nails and sawdust all over our living area. He removed 2 1/4" baseboard trim and replaced it with 4" trim without consulting us because he thought it looked better. He also left debris and his ladder leaning against a piece of furniture which in turn left a grease stain on the furniture. When this was brought to his attention, he told us to steam clean it. It became apparent that every time we questioned him he would get upset and tell us thats the way he does things. He added additional pieces of lumber to the entertainment center which were never shown on the drawing plans. Again, when questioned about this, he became agitated and said he has made hundreds and hundreds of these and we are the first to ever question this. With that being said, I surmise that according to Steve, the customer has no say in what the end product will look like. After three days of incomplete and unsatisfactory work, we parted ways. I would never recommend Solencraft Woodworking to anyone. He displayed poor judgement and inaccurate measurements. This will cost us additional money to have a more skilled professional come in and fix the mistakes left by Solencraft. He also refuses to refund our money.

Whenever new people come into my condo and see the Murphy bed in our TV room there are rave reviews for the bed even before people realize it is a bed. Steve Solensten designed and built a custom Murphy bed for me that is gorgeous at an exceptional low price. I had the same design priced out at another company. The second company’s price was three times that of Solencraft using the same materials. Steve was very conscientious, checking with me numerous times to make sure I was getting exactly what I wanted. The bed was installed in a new condo making the delivery and installation a bit more complicated than something being installed in a single family home. Steve and his helper made sure to take care of the surroundings they were working in. The installation was done just as the condo was completed but before we moved in so any damage done by Steve would have been immediately obvious. There was none. I also asked him to install a set of Shoji screens that I had custom made in Montana. When he began that installation he discovered a piece of the header for the screens had been damaged so he was unable to complete that job and had to return another day once the replacement part arrived. He did not charge me extra for the additional trip to my home this even though he was not in any way responsible for the damaged part. I could not be happier with the work Steve did for me.

I purchased from Steve a large entertainment center for my home office. Steve delivered and installed the entertainment center on time and with the attention and care of a fine craftsman. The center is fabulous and I could not be more please with how it looks. At installation the electrical wall outlets were not positioned where I had informed Steve they would be. It was not a problem. He worked out a solution on the spot. I receive lots of compliments on the piece. Steve was very contentious in protecting the hard wood floor and walls in my office. The entertainment center looks like it was built in with the original construction. After installation I decided I wanted more shelves than the original design. Steve was very prompt in making and finishing the additional shelves. They fit perfectly. I highly recommend Steve and Solencraft Woodworking. My company is moving into new office space and once I get settled next month in my new office, Steve will be the first person I call if we need additional woodwork systems in our offices.

Our neighbor had Steve install drawers where she used to have cabinet doors. It was exactly what I wanted for out kitchen so I gave Steve a call. He came out and was RIGHT ON TIME! We had Steve build six drawers for us where cabinets with doors were. We also had him replace two sets of upper cabinet doors with glass inserts. The existing doors had a wood piece between them, which I found very inconvenient. Steve removed the wood piece and now my new doors touch!! I love them! The new drawers are deep and hold so much more than a cabinet. Steve did an excellent job. He always kept us updated on his progress and stopped by to get our approval on the stain match with our existing cabinets. My husband really appreciated Steves attention to detail and was happy to get his opinion. We would definitely recommend Steve and would certainly call him for any future projects we have. He does excellent work!!

I contacted Solencraft for a quote on an unusually shaped corner vanity (round on one side) and a 72 x 31 x 12 bookcase. Steve came to the house measured designed and quoted a price for both pieces His price was the most reasonable i received. He agreed to meet my need date of two weeks. He met the date, delivered and installed the pieces in about 3 hours. Both pieces met his drawings 100% Absolutely no debris was left behind. We are extremely happy with Solencrafts effort on the project and would highly recommend him to anyone needing custom cabinetry. In fact, we are considering using him again for a custom TV console to match the book case

I had Steve reface the back bar of my bar in my restaurant he did a very beautiful job. He was very professional. And he worked within our business hours so that our business was never interrupted. If that meant coming in early in the morning or late at night thats what he did to get the job done.... also he went out of his way to explain to curious customers what he was doing. Steve has also done some work in my home. He really knows how to do everything!

I had a great experience with Solencraft Woodworking. Steve completed a custom costal inspired base cabinet and mirror cabinet with side mirrors that conveniently hide my medicines. As a interior designer I recognize good wood. His pieces made my small bath into a show piece. I also used Solencraftss expertise for a client of mine to create a craftsman style base cabinet and medicine cabinet for their home as well.
