I reserved a 15 foot truck online to pick up on a Saturday morning at 7am. The website suggested I use self-pickup since lines can be long so I did. When we got there, there was nowhere to park and the site for self-pickup was buggy and slow. By the time we found the truck the site told us was ours, the site was taking FOREVER to confirm so my husband ended up going in anyways. About 20 minutes wasted there. Once he went in, they told him the truck the site allowed us to reserve was broken down and there were no trucks available for that day at that facility or any others in the Reno area. Bear in mind were 35 minutes in by now and have droves of family members from out-of-town waiting at our house to help move. Finally after about another 15 minutes, they found that another customer dropped off a truck last night we could use, but the tank was almost empty so before we could even begin we had to get gas. Id found a deal online for locals that was $29.95 + $1.09 per mile. We were going 76 miles round trip so that would be $82.84 for a total of $112.79. After you add in taxes, insurance, and all of their ridiculous fees, the total I signed for was $153.71. Come to find out, they charged me again an extra $8.38. When I called to find out what that was, a lady named Debbie said they ran my card for $162.09, but my receipt says otherwise. Tried to explain that to her and she continued to repeat herself about 4 times before I finally gave up. Not only will I NEVER use this facility again, but I will NEVER use Uhaul again. Disgusting excuse for customer service and not willing to do anything for all the inconveniences they caused us and our families. Something that should have been smooth turned out to be a complete nightmare.

I just want to share my unnecessarily bad experience attempting to get a hitch put on my car at U-Haul. The system for setting up appointments and ordering parts is NOT functional. I ordered a hitch and parts online on Sunday and used the website to make an appointment for Monday (which was available online). Monday, the store I ordered the hitch to (did not call me, I called them) couldn’t fit me in. I then called the online number given for South Reno store and the person I talked to transferred the hitch to that other store and set up an appointment for 10am. I drove from Truckee to South Reno (45 minutes each way) only to find out when I got there that they have the hitch but not the hardware. I stood there waiting 30 minutes while the very apologetic “hitch guy” vainly called around to other Reno stores to find the hardware to be able to install my hitch. No one had actually checked with him whether he had the necessary parts. I lost a total of two hours of work, drove my car 80 miles and will have to do the same yet again to actually get the hitch installed. If the person on the phone at U-Haul had told me he actually had zero idea whether the parts or hitch were available at the store, I would never have spent all that time and miles on my car. How does it help the customer to set up appointments that have NO bearing in reality. Dont put any value on appointments made.

Horrible I will never ever uses this place again. We rent a truck from them and we left an item in the truck when we returned it. I called a 3 weeks later and asked if they have found the item in the truck the lady on the phone said yes but she had to look for it and she will call me back. A week goes by do I decided to stop by and ask in person on of the guys works said he say that the item I was looking for. He looked for five min and of course came back and told me he couldnt find it now but he saw it a few days ago. I ask how long they keep items found in there truck and was told that they didnt know. I ask when the manager would be in they said a week vacation. So I called in a week asked for the manager hey said he saw the item and he need to look for it took my number down and again never called me back. This place is a disgrace to uhaul name and what uhaul stands for. If you ever leave an item that is worth anything you will never get it back. They will give you the run around for weeks it took me 3 weeks. AGAIN DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN THERE TRUCKS YOU WILL NEVER SEE IT AGAIN.

Awful service. This location burns through personnel every 3 months or so which is quite telling since workers are choosing to be unemployed (Reno the highest unemployment rate of any city in the US @ 11.7%) rather than work at this location. Ive had the misfortune of dealing with the general manager of this store on more than one occasion in the 1.5 years Ive rented a storage unit from this location. I have found him rude, uninformed of the processes associated with the business he manages, and too proud or unwilling to seek an intelligent or appropriate answer. In my three interactions with the GM I distinctly recall being walked away from as I asked a question, and today, I was hung up on when I asked a question to which he had insufficient information to answer. The next time I encounter rude conduct from this location I will contact the BBB and uhaul corporate. My recommendation is to avoid this location if at all possible.

I had a reservation for a trailer for my son to haul some furniture to the Bay Area for me, and the trailer was ready when we arrived. The nice guy who hooked up the trailer realized that the brake lights werent working - so we tried another trailer. Same issue, which meant that the problem was with our wiring harness. He and my son did some troubleshooting, and determined that this was indeed the issue. They had a wiring harness kit in stock and had our truck fixed in just over an hour. Very courteous, nice guys all around, and the price for the repair was cheaper than if we had tried to do it ourselves. I cant remember all the employees we dealt with today, but there was Dakota, Nick, Joe (maybe!) and the manager whos name started with an A ...I wish I had written all their names down to thank them personally. Thanks for a good transaction!

I want to write a very positive review about U-Haul in Reno. The workers were very friendly and went above and beyond what was expected to make the hitch fit my van. They had to do extra work and were very nice about it. It is a very comfortable, friendly place and I will send my friends there for rentals and hitches. Excellent experience and fair pricing.

I have used other uhaul offices for trailer/truck rentals in the past. One even suggested that I had to fight the guy behind me for the next place in line??? This Uhaul at this location has been nothing but fantastic. I think the other people might have the this uhaul confused with the other one by Walgreens on Virginia. Ken
