I stopped in to see about getting a price quote to have a new muffler welded in (I had purchased a after market muffler the day before) the gentleman behind the counter gave me a quote of $75 maybe $100 dollars plus the cost of the pipe if it needed any. I told him that it would definitely need pipe dude to the size difference in the mufflers. I asked him if they would be able to get to the vehicle today and he said "They will try, but if they dont then definitely Monday." then gave me an invoice to sign which had a total price of $126 and change which I was fine with. I assumed that was the price of the muffler to be welded in along with the pipe that needed to be added. I knew they closed at 3 and it was around 2:15 when I decided to call and see if they were able to get to it. I was without a vehicle so I would have to walk there and wanted to make sure I gave myself enough time to get there. Upon calling I was informed that they just finished and he did not get the chance to call anybody back yet. I got there about 2:45 and while speaking with him he handed me a bill for $159.83. I was baffled. I asked him what that was, why so much, and what happened to the original $126 invoice that I had signed to which he replied very defensively and nasty "I told you plus labor, plus pipe" I asked him again where this was coming from because I still didnt understand nor had I received a phone call stating that it was going to be more than the $126 and change that I had signed for. I told him you gave me 3 different quotes the first was $75, then $100, then I signed an invoice with a price of $126 and now your billing me $159.83. He repeated himself very nasty again "plus labor plus pipe" I could see this was an argument I was not going to win so I paid and left. The following morning upon starting the vehicle I heard a strange noise soI looked under it only to find that the exhaust was leaking in several spots. I also noticed the weld locations were not cleaned/ground properly to insure a good clean weld, there was and still is a piece of the welding material several inches long still stuck to the pipe. Extremely upset I crawled under the vehicle and started taking pictures. I will reluctantly be going back and plan to contact corporate.

My wife just went in for a brake inspection as hers were clearly shot. She sent me a copy of the invoice that came to $1300 with parts and labor. I looked up each part on Auto Zones website and every single part can be purchased by consumers for literally half (sometimes even less) the price than Midas charges. Just be aware of that when you need significant work done. Luckily we have a family member who is able to fix our brakes for a mere fraction of Midass cost... WITH NO SHOP SUPPLY FEE EITHER! I am not suggesting we were being scammed or ripped off, just that the Midas company is clearly jacking up the parts cost. Welp, it lost you a customer.

This place is a piece of work. The owner is an arrogant jerk with no common decency. Dont bother printing off a coupon, since he will not accept it. Paid $28 instead of $20 for an oil change and tire rotation, and he decided not to rotate the tires. I will never go back here I hope this place closes down. This is not a comment about midas in general, just about this location in bayville!
