I was working with my own personal Realtor when I came across a home in Moonachie for sale. I called my realtor up and asked him to get us in the house, he called up Nicholas Realty and got Hugo Meza on the phone who gave him the lock box number. When we got there the lock box did not work. When my realtor called Hugo back to get the number, he said to him “That is the correct number and I don’t know why it wouldn’t be working.” So we weren’t able to get into the house. Later that night I decided to call Hugo myself and get into the house with him. I called him and made an appointment for Sunday at 11am. When I got there with my husband and two of my cousins who live in the area, Hugo was late. He finally showed up at 11:15, with no apologies. He was wearing a soccer jersey and brought his child on the showing with him, who he left in the car, in the heat until my cousin spoke up and asked him “Are you going to leave him in there?” Hugo let us in, did not show us around and stood outside the entire time on his phone texting. When we were done my cousin asked Hugo “Can we come back with a contractor?” and he said “Which one of you is the realtor?” I told him “None of us are realtors, I am the buyer” and his tune completely changed. He said “I can only let you back into the house if you go through me and not your own realtor, when you make an offer on the house it has to be through me, we don’t allow other realtors to be a part of our deals.” That is illegal to say to someone, it is not how one conducts business. I decided to then call the owner of the company Nicholas Tselepsis, who did not care about how Hugo showed up late, brought his son on the showing and didn’t even walk us through the property. He then agreed that no outside realtors are allowed in their deals, and that you must go through them and only them. When I told him I didn’t want to do business with their company, Nicholas started yelling at me, that’s when I hung up. I’ll never work with them, they are criminals.

If I could give negative stars, I would! This agency and its owner are what most old-timers call a "shister"... Nick has been taking advantage of his customers for over 30 years. He overinflates the commissions and fees he charges, especially to customers who may be first-time homebuyers or first-generation Americans. If you do plan on doing business with him or his business, I suggest you hire yourself a good estate attorney to represent you. Take it from someone whose own family was manipulated and taken advantage of over 20 years ago, in the process by selling a home with Nick. In that time, Ive personally spoken to numerous people who were taken advantage of in the same manner in their dealings with Nick and his agency. Do yourself a favor and choose from the many other reputable realtors in the tri-state area!

Would give less than 1 star if possible. My mortgage company used them to appraise my house. They got the # of rooms and bathrooms incorrect, said I had a basement when I do not, and compared completely different styles of houses. Oddly, the listed agent is Hugo Meza but a woman came to do the appraisal.

Usually Fannie Mae homes are consigned to this realtor.
