We first came to Rainbow Academy a few years ago when our older daughter (now 6) was ready for preschool. We researched severa facilities in Flemington and took her on tours which she never liked until she came to Rainbow. The first time we walked in with her (3 years old at the time), she was warmly welcomed by Matty and proceeded to play with toys in the office. When we took the tour of the classrooms, she did not want to leave! Needless to say, we enrolled her right away. She did suffer from separation anxiety, but the staff was wonderful in undertanding and caring for her. They took the extra time and gave her the attention she needed to feel secure. Because my daughters first language was not English, she also felt anxiety when she could not understand what was going on around her. I was very impressed and touched when I saw on the web camera that Miss Alyson (assistant-director) who speaks spanish took time every day to calm her when she first arrived and at nap time. Miss Alyson continued to do this for months, going into the classroom to check on my daughter during the day or even taking her to "help" with school work in the office. My daughter grew and developed not only academically, but also socially and emotionally at Rainbow Academy and was heartbroken to leave for public school. Our second daughter still attends Rainbow and had a completely different experience. We enrolled her earlier (2 1/2 years old) before our oldest had to leave for public school in hopes of easing her into preschool life with her big sister still around. As it turns out, she only needed her big sister for a very short time as the teachers in the Orange Giraffes classroom gave her so much love and attention. She loved every mintue of every day from the beginning. I cant say enough good things about the Orange Giraffe teachers who were so caring and thoughtful. My little one felt very special and transitioned with ease to preschool life. She has since moved to Purple Cats and is very proud of that! There is the same level of care and love in her "big girl" classroom and the only problem we have is convincing her to come home at the end of the day! Thank God for Mattys (director) patience in explaining to her every day (serioulsy) that she needs to go home because everyone is leaving and the lights will be turned off. After years of having the wonderful people at Rainbow Academy caring for my kids, I am completely satisfied and feel very much at ease recommending them to anyone. I love their modern, clean, ample facilities and all the programs they offer. My kids love all of the teachers and staff and my older one still goes back for summer camp. As a parent however, I always worried about whether my kids emotional needs would be tended to in perschool, especially when they are younger and need an extra hug or a cuddle. I am very happy that everyone at Rainbow had the same mindset and provided (and still provide) my kids with the loving care that they need to thrive.

Despite a modern facility with great ideas and technology they fell short with basic communications with us as new parents such as: 1) Our childs teacher whom we were told was to be the caretaker of JUST our child until new infants enrolled a month later, would not be caring for our child the full first day - the most important day for new parents. We had to learn for ourselves via webcam, that there are unknown people caring for our child, WHOM WE HAVE NEVER MET IN ANY INTERVIEW AT THE FACILITY prior, as well as 4 other children that were brought into the infant room unbeknownst to us and the children were older and mobile and worried us as to the safety/well-being of our child whom is not really crawling yet amongst these other children. As told to us...these children did not transition well to their new classroom this new semester, so they decided to bring them back to the infant room. We were never told this could be a possibility or that it WAS going to happen the first day. 2) The eratic way these unknown persons were rocking the cradles to get the other children to nap and eventually our child. READ THE PARENT notes you asked us to bring in the morning - "our child is a self soother and will go to rest by themself." 3) On the second day, perhaps it is a good idea to consider our first day experience. When using the webcam service the second day - we cannot find our child? Oh that is because they didnt inform us that they would be taking her to the other classroom to visit the older children. Can we access this webcam - NO, because our webcam service is only for the infant room. In the end Corporate received an email from us that we were no longer going to be having them care for our daughter. NO RESPONSE! That is great service there guys.

The first place that came to mind when researching for a daycare 3 years ago was Rainbow Academy. This was because it was close to home and had its name prominently displayed. I visited their property as well as some others in the area and selected them because of their capable caregivers and their big classrooms with natural sunlight. Not to mention, my 2 year child had the opportunity to "test" the waters by being there for half-day before I even committed. He loved it and was sad to leave them before nap time. One day, I happened to watch my son online as he was about to take his nap. His cot was on the floor without a sheet and he was a bit confused. He was not sure if he should lie down on it or not since it appeared everyone already had a cot with a sheet. Then Director Matty came into the room, got a sheet and made his bed. When he came home, I asked him, “Who made your bed today?” and when he responded, “Ms. Matty,” I said, “What did she say to you?” His answer was “Sweet Dreams Sweetheart”. I could not help but smile at his words because he was also smiling from ear to ear. Rainbow Academy now uses the interactive white board which enhances the learning ability of the child because they are able to see and hear exactly what their teacher is talking about. Director Matty and Asst. Director Alyson have always been considerate of our wishes and were always willing to work with us. They believe in making learning fun and truly care about our children. I do believe that Rainbow provides that home away from home for a child where they feel safe and loved, and that is important to us as parents.

I couldnt be happier with the decision to send my son here for pre-K. He has flourished under the guidance of the teachers and directors. We walk through the halls either picking him up or dropping him off and every single teacher acknowledges us by name. This shows you that they care about each individual child even if your child isnt in their classroom. I am sad that I can not keep him here forever. It is a good feeling when you drop your child off and they are happy to be there. The teachers are excellent, the director and co director are excellent and I would recommend Rainbow Academy in Flemington to any parent. You will not be disappointed in the care and education that your child gets here.
