Worst Retro Fitness Ive ever been to! The ceilings always leak when it rains and they put garbage cans under them. One time, I got locked in the movie room because the door was always getting stuck - they had to call the fire department to get me and another guy out of there...the cheap owner didnt want to break down the door, so a fireman climbed through the ceiling, dropped down a hammer, and we had to rescue ourselves. Do you think the owner fixed it? NO! He put duct tape over the lock to prevent it from happening again. TODAY WAS THE LAST STRAW! I went to get changed back into my work clothes as I go on my lunch hour, to find ANTS ALL OVER AND INSIDE MY GYM BACK! I was disgusted. Do not go to this gym! When I told the front desk, they pulled out a huge bottle of bug repellent spray UNDER THE SMOOTHIE BAR none the less and said they will treat the locker rooms. The trail of ants along the bench is enough to keep me out of this place for good. And they said they were treating the juice bar area to "prevent" bugs, well, get a clue b/c your gym is filthy. The carpets in the ladys locker room are so gross I can barely stand putting my feet on them....take a look underneath to what the color of the actual carpet used to look like. The latest owner has really let this place go down hill. If I could Id rate this negative 5 stars!

Me and my husband have been members since before this gym actually opened. We signed up together, still have the original agreement but yet they still continue to screw up our account. First time: Both accounts were under me. My husband didnt exist. Supposedly they corrected this. Fine. Second Time: Call in to cancel tanning packages on both the accounts. The girl said it was taken care of. No worries. Well Billed for tanning and for 2 accounts. Yet the manager says I dont exist and that the tanning was never cancelled??? Blamed ABC Financial and said I need to take it up with them. Call ABC... They told me that the changes to my account were in fact made at the Gym. They had found my account labeled as my husbands... AGAIN! I guess Santa Clause did this???? Maybe the Tooth Fairy??? I asked ABC for my notes so I can bring them to Retro along with my other documentation on how big of screw ups they are and was on the phone for 2 hours in circles with the rep about logging on iclub, I can see the notes there blah blah blah.... No notes...no nothing.... I am out money on the tanning. I am out my time dealing with this BS that I pay for on time monthly.... and I am angry that the Gym pointed the finger at someone else when the computer system shows who did what at what time.... BIG SCAM AND LIARS.

the best thing about joining this Gym is that you are able to use all the other retro fitness locations as well. the facilities are great, the staff is ok, their not very friendly in my experience (with exception of the trainers, they are friendly and helpful even if your not their client) but if you just want to get a work out in they stay out of your way for the most part. the locker room and bathrooms are not the cleanest, but the equipment is good. Ocassionally some of the cardio machines and tvs are in disrepair, but in a busy gym with that many people using it, that has to be expected. It definatly beats image planet and ballys at a much better price than both. good gym but it should be noted that there is a much better staff at the north plainfeild location.

I like the gym. Maybe because Ive been a member for years so I feel lost in any other gym. The only thing I DONT like is that the parking SUCKS between 4pm-8pm. It gets packed and I hate waiting for certain benches, weights or machines. I wish the Kenilworth gym had a boxing room like the Woodbridge gym has. The kenilworth gym has a punching bag but its in a very awkward spot and I once kicked the bar holding it up because its in a very small area. Overall id give it a 6 out of 10. If it closed later or was a 24 hour gym and had better boxing equipment instead of two big rooms for yoga and all that crap, id give it a 9. For $20 a month, you get what you pay for. Crappy parking, overcrowded during peak hours. And I wish there was a Retro fitness in the Linden area

I joined a couple of years ago, overall, its a cool gym, I got friends that go there, my only gripes are that I wish there were more benches for bench pressing, more equipment given that amount of people that go there, nothing sucks more than waiting around for something to free up, but the biggest issue is the parking, if you go at certain times, parking is a nightmare, very limited given the amount of members that go there, even cops come thru there because people are illegally parking in fire zones because of the lack of spaces, its a real problem, so you either go really early in the morn when they first open or sadly, like I do during the weekdays, go to another location, I go to Iselin because its in a shopping center so theres plenty of parking

Im a big fan of this specific retro fitness. There is a lot of space, so even if its crowded you have plenty of space to move around. Also, I rarely have to wait for equipment or machines being that theres 3 squat racks, plenty of bars, 2 benches etc.Theres plenty of equipment to and accessories that are hard to find at other retros (GHR, different bands, etc) so if youre a serious lifter, this is the place for you. Yeah, everything is a little outdated but youre paying 20 bucks which makes it worth it. Also, Ive never had a problem with the staff or other members. Everyone is very friendly and always says hello. The only con is the parking which can be tough especially during peak hours so you may have to park across the screen.

This company is utterly disrespectful and will steal your money. I joined the gym in 2010 and but relocated from the state within 30 days of joining the gym. I wrote a letter to them asking to be removed from membership. They have charged my credit card for a service I have never actually used... 3 years later and have sent me payment to collections. This have been the longest headache of my life. Instead, I recommend that everyone get the BodFit app, youll never need this basic crap gym ever again. I never worked out there! I never used the facility ever! Yet, I have to pay for the membership? - Lets just say I am not a fan of Retro Fitness.

When I first started working out in the early summer of 2011 it was cool. I found parking spots and it wasnt as busy, but ever since december of 2011 hit when they had their free enrollment plan it got really busy, No matter what time you go the gym is now always packed. I went today after not going for 3 weeks to see how it would be and i could not get on a single machine. If your in the gym your not going to want to wait 15 minutes for someone to get done on the machine and the bathrooms are quite dirty as well. Im doing p90x now and it is WAY better than going to the gym.
