So far my experience hasnt been that great. I really wish they would dispense with the hard sell. It is painful. My root canal was less annoying. The first time I went to get some information I had to leave because I could tell that the shenanigans were about to start. I just didnt have the patience to deal with it that day. All I wanted to know is what they have and what it costs. Pretty simple huh. I think I am old enough now to know how to make decisions and compare what different gyms have to offer. Used car salesmen are less irritating. I believe that when someone walks into a gym it is because they are interested in making a purchase. In essence that is what you are doing. So why do I have to be "sold". When I walk into the Shop-Rite it is because I want to make a purchase. There is no one trying to sell me. The product is one the shelf, I read the label, I look at the price, I make a decision. Done. I was still interested in joining a gym so I started shopping around again. I went back to Future Fitness because it is close and it has a pool. I was hoping I could go in and get the information I needed to make an informed decision. I knew that I would have to be more patient this time since I really wanted to join if I thought it was worth it. I could tell that it wasnt going to be easy. I could go on and on, but I am sure that you are getting the picture. I was about to walk out again, but I think I finally convinced the salesman that I wanted the information I needed to make an informed decision. So we went back up to his office and I got the information I was looking for. I decided on the package that seemed to work best for me. Whew - why so darn difficult. I told the salesman that we never had to go through this. He asked me why I didnt say so. I replied that I was trying to. I also told him that there are probably a lot of people that would prefer it that way. He asked me how would he know. I responded,"Just ask". I did notice that as soon as you give any perceived resistance to the sales pitch it becomes a debate. The whole process could have taken minutes, but it didnt. I wonder if corporate knew that they might close more deals if things werent so combative? I kind of wondered if a kiosk could be set up comparing what they offer compared to other gyms such as equipment, prices, etc. It would save money since you wouldnt have to pay a sales team which may reduce the fees or provide some nice bonuses to the CEO. I wonder if corporate would be willing to take such a chance and just present what they have to offer. By the way you never have to "sell" a good deal. I plan on going to this gym as long as my wife wants to go. I really joined for her sake since she is not fond of going to the gym alone. I would also like to see her learn how to swim. I myself dont need a gym to work out. I have been working out without a gym for over 40 years. We didnt go to a gym during Marine Corps recruit training and we all got into some pretty good shape. I am really hoping that my experience improves from here. So far it hasnt been fun and I resent the fact that I had to go through such nonsense in order to simply join a gym. Sunday is my first membership day. I will let you know how it goes.

Becoming a member of Future Fitness was a great decision. While there are other clubs that charge little less for membership but the old saying holds true that you get what you pay for. You can join one of those other bare bones clubs and workout with high school kids and be ignored by the disinterested staff or you can come to Future fitness and get state of the art equipment, friendly knowledgeable staff and a clean, welcoming environment. Joining Future Fitness is like choosing to stay at the Ritz Carlton instead of Motel 6, both have a bed but they are two completely different experiences. I joined shortly after the club opened here in Mount Laurel and it has been a life changing experience. I had been a member of many other fitness clubs before but none of them ever stuck for me. Eventually, I would just lose interest and stop going. I am proud to say that I joined Future Fitness in 2005 and have been going almost every week for the last seven years. There are many reasons why Future Fitness succeeded in helping me maintain my workout while all the others clubs failed. The open airy, inviting feeling you get when you walk in the door. The friendly, welcoming greeting you get from the reception staff who not only know your name but also your membership number, whether or not you need a training voucher, etc… As you enter the club, you see all different kinds of people working out, so no matter who you are you never feel uncomfortable and you always feel like you belong. The various club areas are always clean and fresh, from the exercise floor to the locker rooms to the rest rooms. Another thing I really like, is that Future Fitness has plenty of state of the art equipment. You never have to wait for a machine and no matter how many members are working out, it never feels crowded. Finally, the one thing that probably has made the biggest difference in my experience working out at Future Fitness has been my personal trainer, Doria Fortunato. I came to Doria in 2005 because my 25th wedding anniversary and my son’s graduation from college were coming up and I wanted to try to lose some weight. While I am still a work in progress, Doria taught me so much more then just how to use the machines or lift a dumbbell. She taught me the right way to move and how to isolate each muscle group to get the maximum results for my body. She always keeps the workout fresh and sees to it that I am always progressing in my training program. In addition to the obvious physical benefits I have gotten from my personal training sessions with Doria, like weight loss and muscle definition, a surprise benefit from my training has been in the area of stress reduction. There are days when I come in and I am tense and grouchy for one reason or another but after a workout with Doria, I feel so much better. My personal trainer is probably the biggest reason that my experience at Future Fitness has been so positive and that I have been able to maintain my workouts and make the most of my Future Fitness membership.

Im the type of guy who has little tolerance for fitness centers that charge you a monthly fee, then provide you with either 1) a huge group of smelly meathead a-holes, 2) broken or limited equipment, or 3) limited hours. Future fitness offers a great, diverse array of equipment, free classes, and personal trainers and health assessments (monthly) are included in your membership. They offer discounts through insurance or the military as well. However, they are different. If you just want to look at the place you will be locked into a 1 hour car salesman type of routine. At the end, if you are not interested you are no longer to enroll at that location. That being said, if you are looking for a fitness center, make sure Future Fitness is the last place you check out. A result of the free trainers, classes, nurses, etc. is that there is a larger joiners fee, which is adjustable depending on how much you want to pay per month as a member. With the $300 coupon my wife and I were able to pay $200 upfront to join, and $45 a month monthly dues. That is roughly twice what you would pay at the YMCA. However, this is balanced by the great equipment line, the cleanliness of the facility, the "free" classes and trainers, the long hours, and the diverse, cleanly, non-steroid tanned crowd. If you are serious about getting in shape or staying in shape and are willing to pay a little more this is your place. Youll never need another fitness center again if you join a Future Fitness. If you are one of those lazy people who sit around and talk more than workout at the gym, or need to be motivated to go to the gym, save your money and invest it in one of the smaller, crummier, cheaper places. From what I read here it appears that everyone that "hates" this place only can complain about the car salesmen routine it takes to join and the fees. I dont see anyone here that thinks the place has terrible equipment, hours, rude people, limited options....do you? Nope, those are people that should stick to the YMCA. Future Fitness is a great place. You may pay more, but it is an investment in yourself and I hope you feel that you are worth the investment.
