Weve been coming here every July 4th for decades, and this is the first year we were disappointed. We had actually booked four nights in a row for our group, but after the first two very disappointing experiences, we cancelled the other nights and went elsewhere. While the servers are still very nice, the kitchen has dropped way down since last year. We were 10 people, and none of us were happy. I ordered the halibut on the first night, and they served this then flounder-looking flat fish tale that was so tough and chewy, I couldnt eat it. They insisted that it really was halibut, just the tail, but I dont think so. But whatever it was, it was inedible. Other people were also disappointed on the first night, but we had been going for years so we came back the second night. I ordered salmon to be safe, and it was OK, but everything took hours and the place wasnt even full. I think the whole meal took three hours, and most of it was the wait between the appetizers and the mains. No one was impressed with the food, but we were mostly disappointed by how long it took. I dont know what happened because IG was our go-to restaurant in OCNJ, but now its a no-go for all of us. I think that they must have lost their chef and the kitchen has fallen apart. The staff didnt seem too happy about it either. Theyre stuck with a bunch of disappointed guests like us. I dont think well be going back, breaking our traditions for all these years. Its a shame. We really liked it there, and it was the best restaurant in town. Not any more!

Crawling, creeping, languid, slug like. That just covers the tip of the iceberg in regards to the service here. The food was okay. Portion size in relation to price was skimpy. Thimble-sized sides. The kids meals didnt come with the frisbees that were supposed to be included. They didnt take any money off or offer a substitution. The waitress forgot the tartar sauce for my crab cake. We asked for the check when the meal came to speed things along. She bright us our check, then ignored us for ten minutes. In that time, she brought the check to the people next to us, collected their check, and started clearing away their dishes, even though they werent done eating. Unless this place is under new management, I honestly cant understand how anyone has ever had a good experience here.

I love this place! The candied burnt ends are AWESOME!! I cant stop talking about them. If you do not or can not eat pork then you really should try them. Island Grill is a family owned and operated business. You are warmly greeted when you enter. As you are being seated they tell you about the catch of the day. Always a colorful range in seafood for you to choose from. They always listen to suggestions, and they always make you feel welcomed. They truly care about what they put on the table and they see you as a person not just a dollar sign walking thru their door. Every time I have come to the island grill they have done something new to make the experience even better than the last. Definitely a family friendly restaurant in a family friendly town!

Been coming here for years. Sometimes its amazing and sometimes its subpar. Came in today for lunch. Waited 45 minutes for food and it wasnt a full house. Our server messed up two out of four meals at our table. Drink refills were not offered. A computer glitch was blamed for the delay in meals but yet no one else in the restaurant had this problem. I wouldnt have even posted this but for the fact that the two messed up meals affected a person with a food allergy and a person who cant have spicy food and specifically requested to hold hot sauce. Nothing outlandish was requested. Didnt want to send anything back for fear of waiting another 45 minutes for replacements.

Horrible experience! Waited 45 minutes to sit, another 45 minutes for the food and the food was horrendous. My sons hamburger had the same consistency as a hockey puck, my wifes quesadilla came with stale cheese & my porterhouse was ice cold in the middle. Not sure Ive ever had a worse family dinning experience. I also had bus boys hovering over me ready to pounce on my plates since it was 15 minutes till they closed. I know how hard it is to run a restaurant, since my family owns a few of them - if we ever delivered food and service like this at any of our places wed be out of business in 6 months!

Every year we come down for my parents anniversary. Always blows us away from the shark bites to the red snapper, moon fish, lobster bisque, wild boar chops, to the dark chocolate cake. Never disappointed. For the portions to the price everything was phenomenal. I love that they also have a automatic bathroom door knob sanitizer. And if you want to take an awful taste out of your mouth like a cigarette so you can taste everything correctly they also have mouthwash dispensers and cups for you in the restrooms as well. Thank you so very much for always making my experience top notch.

Not sure what happened in 2 years, but this place is one to avoid. My seafood combo was poor at best and portions were extremely small for the price. My daughter ordered kids shrimp meal and there were 4 small shrimp and a small cup of oranges for $11. My wife ordered grilled salmon and it came out black. I thought they accidentally made blackened salmon. Nope, burnt salmon. Not sure how you send something out like that from the kitchen or even serve it. At least the retry on the salmon was good, but everything else already sunk their boat.

My family has eaten there on our past few trips to ocean city. Every time we have had slow service, but this last time was so bad we decided not to go back there again. When we ordered we were told they were out of baked potatoes, shark bites and kids cups. Then we waited over an hour for our food. The portions were small for what we paid and I got lobster that was completely dried out. The waiter was nice and my brother said he got the best soup he ever ate there which is why I gave it two stars, but its not worth the slow service.

Went mid-week, mid-September. Its the off season. Went for dinner. The waitress told us when we started that they were short handed and service would be slow. It was. Food was just okay. I got a crab sandwich on rye with Tomato and swiss. The crab imperial they use is mostly crab, big chucks, not much filler, but not much flavor. Our sides were all delivered a few minutes after our dinner as well. This place, like most restaurants in OC, are only half decent since its a tourist town without a liquor or BYOB license.

We went here on 6/15/15 and it was amazing. Came during lunch around 11ish and the food was fantastic and great portions for the price. The place was so good that we came back the next day for lunch again and the following day for our final breakfast while on vacation. If I ever come back to ocean city nj for vacation the Island Grill is 100% getting my business again.
