I visited Lather Lounge for the first time during February, as I was in need of a trim and my last few visits to a Manhattan barber shop just wasnt making me happy. I wanted to avoid that long trek in and out of the city for a haircut and stumbled on Lather Lounge and Raymond. Within the next 30 minutes, I realized that my forays into Manhattan to get a trim were no longer necessary. Raymonds a very skilled barber and understands mens hairstyles. Hes cuts are always precise, stylish, and quick, and hes a good conversationalist, if you want some chatter to go along with your cut. As an added plus, some of us guys dont enjoy going to those womens high end salons and the fru fry atmosphere for a cut. The Lather Lounge isnt one of those -- no, its not a bare bones mens barber shop with the striped pole outside, but its a place that does not make you feel uncomfortable. Consider this a glowing recommendation for Raymond and The Lather Lounge!

"The most important person in our salon is you". -- from the home page of their website. I certainly didnt feel that way when I visited last week for color and highlights. I was charged more for the same services I received three months earlier and when I questioned it, I was told I had been given a "discount I should not have been". All around very poor customer service. Attempts to reach the owner to discuss proved just as frustrating as she asked her manager to handle. The manager was the one who "handled" it while I was at the salon.

There is no challenge too big for Jess! Shes been doing my hair different shades of red for a while now, which Im always receiving compliments for! But I was ready to do something different. Today she did dark brown with peek a boo / ombre royal blue. Its so different & she had to work very hard to cover up the years & years of red hair dye, but when she was done, it was better than I thought it would be! I love Lather Lounge! Thank you Jess! You are the best!

This is the first time I am writing a review ever. I moved to Mahwah few months back and was looking for a good salon for a haircut. I read great reviews about this place and gave it a shot. Since then I have been coming back. It clean , great customer service. I had Melanie and for last two times I had Rebecca giving me a haircut. I cant tell how happy I am . I had random people coming to me and telling me how great my haircut was . I am a happy customer :)

My wife suggested that I try Lather Lounge after her positive experience and I am very happy that I did. For years, I had been trying to find a salon that would actually copy pictures of hairstyles/haircuts that I wanted, but they were never successful -- not even close. Rebecca cut my hair exactly how I asked and I will definitely return and recommend her/Lather Lounge to others.

If you are a guy looking for a haircut, do not bother. The women at this place will butcher you as they did to me when Ramon was not available. Chick cut my ear bad with clippers. The only competent person who could do a mans cut was Ramon and he is no longer at this place. Will post again once I find out where he went. Dudes...stay away. I warned you.

I dont live in the area anymore, but will still be going out my way to come see Jess and her friendly staff for my haircuts. Everything is new, aside from the experienced staff, and they even have a Keurig coffee machine in the back. Oh, and its right next to a pizza place which doesnt hurt either :)

I started going to Lather Lounge a couple of years ago and have been very happy with the quality of service each time I went. Rebecca has always done a great job cutting my hair, the entire staff is friendly and the place is kept very clean! I would recommend anyone to give Lather Lounge a try!

I chose Lather Lounge because it had consistently good reviews both here and on Yelp! but I am staying with them because my hair, and my daughters hair have never looked better! Melanie is the one who takes care of us. I am very impressed with the quality of service we get here.

Didnt go but called and asked if they have ever done hair of color (black persons hair) and she said that she hasnt and she dont know if anybody else has which was fine but then she had the nerve to say that they dont have time to do a black persons hair; such an ignorant answer.

I took my Mom for a Mothers Day gift. She is turning 84 on Sunday and is in a wheelchair. Nicole did her hair and believe me, she made her feel like a million bucks. We could not have had a better experience. Thank you very much for helping make this weekend special.

Went in with an open mind even though the place was pretty much empty. My haircut was uneven and sloppy, which shouldnt be a surprise given it took all of 10 minutes before the stylist said "hows that." I would not recommend going here.
