We recently had a blockage in one of our guest toilet. We took an apt with Roto-Rooter. The technician promptly arrived the next morning inspected the sewer lines with a camera. He found a blockage in the sewer pipe going through our front yard just next the other vent out pipe at the other end closer to the street. He sat with us and explained clearly how they would remedy the problem by excavating a section of the sewer pipe in the front yard , pull out the old vent pipe, replace the broken sewer section with a PVC like pipe and also put in a new vent-out pipe. The pricing came to a couple of grand but it was worth the money. The tech created a job order and decided to start the work right first thing Monday morning. The great thing about Roto-Rooter was that they also have a great relationship with the township given their reputation and are able to get the permits submitted and approved promptly. On Monday morning the excavator and plumbing technicians Nick ( Tech 1619 ) and Fred ( Tech 423 ) arrived promptly in the morning. They got the digger and other equipment properly positioned to bigin the job. They were really and Batman and Robin duo. Fred was middle aged and very experienced with the digger and had been in the profession for 30 years. Nick was very young and had been with Roto-Rooter for the last 3 years. They waited for PSEG and Water company to come and mark the lines before they could begin their job just to make sure they dont accidently cut through any gas, electric or water lines. They then used the excavator to dig to the damaged pipes. Nick would carefully inspect the excavated area for any signs of pipes or sewer lines so as to halt the digger operated by Fred so as not to damage them. After 30-45 mins of careful digging upto 6 ft. they finally found the damaged sewer line. But it seemed to go further down. So they had to continue digging to find the 5" sewer line going out to the mains on the street. They did not expect the lines to be so deep. But they patiently kept on digging and finally found the sewer line 12 feet under leading to the mains. The sewer pipe was badly damaged at the joints where the tree roots had gotten in and blocked it entirely. Nick climbed into the hole after securing the walls with scaffolding and worked on cutting off the damaged section of the pipe and replacing it with PVC plastic piping. Nicks work was so neat it seemed better than that of a professional plumber. They also carefully laid out marble chips and gravel below the pipes to prevent any bending of the pipes after the dig was covered over. They also put in the new vent out pipe. They then took pictures for the inspection and carefully secured the opening with large plys and a tarmac. They had to come back to close the opening after the town inspector had passed the job as good to go. The next morning the town inspector promptly arrived to inspect and passed the job . Fred and Nick came in Tue morning and neatly closed the opening. They just left a small area 8ft by 4 ft patch without grass and all the soil removed was neatly packed in. They told us to wait 8-10 weeks for the soil to settle in naturally. The next evening Bob the supervisor stopped by our house to inspect things and checked with us if we had any issues and were satisfied with the service. He also gave us tips on how to maintain the house drainage and sewer lines going forward so we would not have any issues in the coming years. We are glad that we called Roto Rooter. Their people are very professional and they do a perfect job. Their service is very prompt and you will not have to wait over day together to get your sewer or drain problems solved. We highly recommend them over other sewer service providers anywhere else.

I extremely unhappy with the service. Issue - ====================== I had a leakage in kitchen ceiling. I called RR and Water Restoration (WR) team member arrived as promised. What I was told - ====================== Out plumber will cut the ceiling and find the issue. We will charge $299 for same and will be using it against the total charges. Once work is completed we will spray anti-mold chemical and put everything back and paint it. Hence I gave them go-ahead. What happened - ====================== 1. Plumber came and opened ceiling (1.5 sq feet) 2. Checked all places, upstairs bathroom taps, showers etc. Couldnt find anything and advised to leave it as is and monitor it for few days in case if leak starts again. 3. After a day or 2 , I found the duct leaking the water. I called RR to dispatch the plumber. 4. After looking at the duct plumber advised to call HVAC professional as RR doesnt handle Heating & Cooling related work. 5. HVAC person came and fixed the duct. During above process - RRs person learned that there is no much damage and no anti-mold spray or any other drying work is needed. Now RR is telling me that RR never promised to put the ceiling back as we dont do drywall work and I misunderstood representative. If I would have known that they dont do drywall work, I would NOT have allowed them to open the ceiling and called someone else who would complete the work from start to finish which would be cheaper instead of calling multiple companies to do each piece of work. I am trying to figure out what work was delivered for my $299 by RR. I need some refund out of $299 as RR was unable to find/fix the leak. ===================================== UPDATE 14-Aug ===================================== Manny called about my review and told me that "customer satisfaction" is our main goal and ready to work on resolution. He sent Nir (ID - 743) and he came promptly and did a splendid job of fixing the issue. Thanks Guys - appreciate it.

I know Roto-Rooter is big and the quality of services might be various at different branches. This branch at Somerset is definitely one the of best. The general manager Scott was very polite on the phone. My two bathrooms on the second floor were clogged and leaking on Monday night. Roto-Rooter sent Ben on Tuesday morning, which was a very quick response. Ben was really polite, knowledgeable and honest. He fixed everything in a reasonable time frame with a reasonable charge (a little less than $600). I know someone might get a better price from a smaller company or an independent plumber, because they dont have that much Overhead expense. I chose Roto-Rooter just like I will go to Best Buy instead of a random company founded recently on Internet to buy a TV. The bathrooms were clogged on Wednesday again (It was not Bens problem at all. During the renovation time, someone dropped 2 pieces of dry board or some construction things like that into the sewage pipe. It was out of everybodys imagination). This branch sent Patrick and Quiry, and fixed it on the same day. The two guys worked so hard and their shirts were totally wet like they just took the shirts from water. Thank you very much, Ben, Patrick and Quiry. One quick suggestion: I saw a 888 phone # on top of the receipt, an area code 732 phone # on the side of the receipt, an area code 973 and 908 phone # from the returning call. That confused me for a while. I hope there will be only # some days later. But, if I need a plumber in the future, I have no problem to try each # 100 times until I find you guys.
