Yet another example of a good idea gone bad and overhyped by people who really need to get out and eat more. They said it would be a wonderful experience. They said it is worth every penny. They said it is the best middle eastern food that they have had. They said that it is second to none. Well, they were wrong. Went early to beat the crowds as on a previous occasion we had to turn away because of the super long wait- so yeah, its trendy I guess. Ordered a whole bunch of appetizers and plates. In my experience, at least the appetizers would be good. I was proved wrong here. So many strikes for this place- small portions in a middle Eastern restaurant is like Donald Trump trying to look like George Clooney. Then, the food itself was not as flavorful as I was promised- it was like Vanilla Ice and Eminem decided to form a jazz band. I am sure they used the spices that we all love but, I kid you not, every single item had a over enthusiastic amount of (what I was told) tahini! It made most of the foods taste sour- from the eggplant to the mini pies to the entrees. The falafels were probably the only exceptions but they were overcooked and slightly burnt. The worst thing is that we thought that maybe the chef/owner was not supervising in the kitchen but then we saw her and it felt even more disappointing. Having heard so many stories and even having Tanorrens recipe book and generally growing up eating variation of Middle-Eastern food, it was a major major let down. The owner Rawia says shes inspired by her moms home cooking but I feel she may have lost the way over the years somehow. The restaurant pretends to be this fine dining place with fancily presented skimpy dishes but the most important element- the soul of the food- is missing. Unlike Western food, this food needs to be more homely specially if thats the premise of the whole place. Currently, it fails as either and my distrust in so called professional food critics just keeps growing. At least the service was good, prompt and courteous. However, I care more about the food in a restaurant.

This is a Lebanese restaurant. The food was very good. I started with the eggplant Napolean. It was a medallion of eggplant fried, not greasy or oily, very crispy served over baba ghanouge (pureed eggplant), with a refreshing salad of tomatoes with oil and vinegar and parsley. It was delicious. I tried the stuffed olive leaves, which was very tasty and homemade. A basket of bread was filled with assorted hot breads. Very fluffy. For my main course, I ordered the broiled salmon topped with fresh vegetables, and a side dish filled with rice. Both were very good. For dessert I shared knafeh with my friend. It consisted of layers philo dough, mixed with cheese and dipped in honey water. It was made to order. Delicious. I tried a Lebanese craft beer. It was very smooth. Service is excellent. The prices are reasonable. Parking is on the street, and it may be difficult to find a spot. I had a great time and would definitely go back.

Ive had Tanoreen on 3 different occasions, always with big groups. This restaurant is very accommodating to big groups if you book in advance. The most recent time I came I had a table set for 10 and needed to add 2 additional at the end and they were very accommodating. The one downside for big groups is that the maximum credit cards they can take per party is 4. The restaurant has good atmosphere and lots of windows which is really great on a sunny day. The staff was very accommodating and helpful for a party of our size that wanted to eat family style. The best part of the restaurant is definitely the food! The only thing that is underwhelming is the pita, which is disappointing because of all the stellar appetizers that accompany the pita. My personal favorites are the zatar chips, hummus and kanafe. It’s a bit of a trek to bay ridge, but def worth it!

A Bay Ridge staple, and quite possibly the best Middle Eastern food in all of New York City. Ive been going to Tanoreen since it was a tiny hole-in-the-wall tucked in between a deli and Mooneys Pub, and I am happy to say that neither the quality of the food, nor the personal service from the attentive and friendly waitstaff have dropped since it moved across the street to their much larger (and aesthetically pleasing) new location. The hummus is pitch perfect - creamy and rich, but people dont trek all the way on the slow-as-hell R train deep into Bay Ridge for mashed chick peas - theyre here for the perfectly seasoned, slow roasted lamb. Ive witnessed lifelong vegetarians sneak in wearing fake beards and hoodies to order the lamb shank - its that good. Youve been warned.

One of my favorite restaurants in Brooklyn. I must go at least once every few months. When I went last Friday, it was absolutely the best time Ive had at Tanoreen. The owner came up with a new appetizer that I pray and pray every day that she adds to the menu - its a calamari stuffed with seafood. The flavors are spot on and I can have endless amounts of that dish. And of course the Knafeh is AMAZING. So my boyfriend and I always got the regular size knafeh dessert, but this time we ordered the large. The best decision ever! With the regular size we always wish there were another bite or two. The large knafeh is perfect! We left Tanoreen satisfied and ohhh so full!

The food was really wonderful when I went. Im not entirely sure why, but the time I went it was super loud. I dont know if it was bad acoustics in the room or just a particularly boisterous clientele that day, but it wasnt as pleasant as it could be. Additionally, they were out of an ingredient for a drink they were advertising out front, which to me is a pretty bad food service sin. The service was friendly, however, and the food was great. Wish there were a few more vegetarian options, but alas.

I went for my friends Bday dinner with a group of almost 20 people. Spacious sitting area, facing the glass window was perfect for the crowd. Wide variety of Mediterranean food including several vegetarian appetizers and entrées along with chicken and lamb options with sea food to choose from. I liked their vegetarian baked Mediterranean eggplant and vegetarian combo. In general portion size is considerably large. Enjoyed the last course of meal with mouth watering Baklava for the dessert.

Just tried the well known restaurant. I have ordered a pick up. I got chicken shawarma sandwich- which is not good. I has pickled cucumbers- tastes awful. Pita is not fresh. And extremely citric. Its more lettuce, few tomatoes shreds and a lot of oil. I guess from chicken. Also I got not fresh babaganoush- which has tht much vinegar tht makes it impossible to eat. Plus what u can really taste is oil. Nothing to compare to Pita Pan which serves fresh only!! The most amazing food.

Tanoreen is one of our fancy restaurants in Bay Ridge. Definitely a place to take the family for special occasions. The plates are great for sharing. By the time we got to the entrees, we were stuffed. Get the hummus, fatoosh salad, falafel balls, okra, lamb. Service is great. Its very affordable for the quality you get. It was interesting to see the location of the restaurant. It used to be a Chinese restaurant back in the day and they redid the whole place.
