My car was taking time to start. This issue was occurring for about week and it seemed that the problem was getting worse. I knew that I had to go see a mechanic however I was very skeptical in doing so because of my past experiences with dishonest mechanics. I performed a search in Google and found Great Bear Auto. The review and testimonials really caught my attention, almost too good to be true. I had some doubt however I decided to give them a try. I sent the shop an email to explain the situation of the car issues I was having. I was not expecting a response to the next business day because it was Sunday and the shop was closed. I received a response the same day from Audra (owner). This really was a surprised to me, who will a respond to an email these days when the business is closed?. She was extremely professional and responsive to my concerns with the Car issues I was having. I felt she was being honest and sincere in her email response. She advised that I bring in the car so she can see what’s really going on with the car. She made an appointment for me. The day of my appointment my wife and I first with met Sharon (Sherry is an extremely nice person). She had Danny (mechanic) take a look at the car and he immediately was able to diagnose the problem. It was my starter that was causing the issue. I did not the get the around from him like most mechanic give you these days. Danny was very confident on his findings and suggested I get the starter replaced before it goes dead. I was given fare price on the part and labor. Danny told me that the repair may take a couple hours however the whole process was done in a little over an hour. During the time of waiting Sherry welcomed us to a cup of coffee. We had a great conversation with her. We met with Audra and I address my other concerns (Struts & Suspension) with the Car, she took a ride with us to feel the car. She was very informative and gave in depth knowledge on the concerns I had and made additional suggestions. My front tires are not in the best shape and Audra suggested that I get them replaced or least rotate the tires for the season because the rear tires are better than the front. However she suggested that I replace the right front wheel with the spare that I have if it’s in better shape. She was not looking to take me to the bank like most mechanics these days. Her honesty was off the chart! My wife and I received tons of great information from Audra. We are schedule to take her next workshop “What Women Auto Know”. She asked us for the topics we wish for her to discuss during the workshop session. If you are like me and had past bad experiences with other mechanics then go to Great Bear Auto and see how Audra is changing the face of the Auto Repair Industry. The experience was great!!!! Thank again Great Bear Auto, From your newest and future Customer, Marcelino

I had an experience about two weeks ago I took my car to Nissan for a service engine light and it had a code p304 , so they pulled the plug and found that it was fouled out. They replaced the plug and I had left then service light comes on again p300, took it back to Nissan they had my car for 4 days. They told me I needed a head job ,so I replied is that going to fix the problem, yes I said ok how much is that going to be ( sorry 02 maxima btw) 4,200.00 and if u need timing belt and valve guides its going to be 5,200.00. So I left then I remember watching on you tube about this female mechanic in Queens named Audra so I said let me do some research and looked at the reviews all positive, so I said to myself let me check them out. So on Tuesday of last week I stopped by and talked to John I believe the guy inside with Julia. He explained that so many things can turn that light on. I said well I want to bring the car in on Thursday. He said ok no problem , went in on Thursday morning and found out that the engine had carbon inside he had used a camera and showed me , then he did a compression check and found that two of the cylinder was low in compression. So Julia inside had found me a used engine with 69,000 miles on it . I had replied ok order it and long and behold the engine was delivered with in 2 hours, they had also told me the old engine would be out and new one installed by late Friday evening but to give them a day to check and make sure that everything is OK. I said no problem , u will have ur car on Tuesday because Monday was 4th of July, I said ok long and behold Julia call me Tuesday morning at 830 ur vehicle is ready. No service light and the car performs good. Nissan would of charged me all that money and the problem still would have been there. Thanks Audra, John and Julia and staff for ur services.

So I was driving to work on Thursday and all of a sudden my brakes started grinding really bad. I was obviously concerned. I knew right away that I needed them repaired. The big problem is that prior to picking up this used car a few months ago, I had been leasing cars for the last 10 years. I did not have a mechanic that I trusted. I have been driving past Great Bear for 10 years so I thought to take a look at some of their reviews. After reading them, I decided to walk over to the shop. I was immediately greeted by Audra and Sherri with smiles. I asked if they could service my car today (Saturday at 10:30am). Audra told me that she could. I was relieved so I went home and got my car. Within 20 minutes of pulling in, I had a quote for what was needed. The quote was very fair for the work that needed to be done (more then just breaks) but beyond my budget. The gang at Great Bear helped me prioritize the work and brought it down to what I could spend and still keep my car running safely. The work was done in less then 2 hours and I was ready to go..... and yet I found myself still at the shop at 6pm. Why you ask? Well, I found the way Audra operates intriguing. She runs a free workshop for women called "What women AUTO know" She invited me to stay and participate so I did. Audra did change the name for the day to "What People AUTO know" for my benefit. I left the shop after 7 hours educated and elated that I had found my new mechanic. I will be a client for as long as I own a car. In fact, when I go back to leasing cars, I will still service them at Great Bear.

My experience with Great Bear Auto Repair was a show of true character and care for customer experience. I took my car in for an alignment. The mechanic took care of the alignment and took the car for a road test and got in to an accident with my vehicle. A driver was backing out of his driveway and hit my vehicle damaging the side of my upper bumper and denting the lower part of the rear door and wheel bay and numerous scratches stretched across the rear and passenger side door. I came to Great Bear on the recommendation of a friend who had his Camaro serviced years ago when he lived in Flushing. Getting back to the accident, Great Bear Auto Repair took care of my bumper, dents, and scratches from the accident free of charge and showed a sense of care and urgency, especially with this being my first experience. Shari, Johnny, Kenny, and the crew are a delight and I am recommending this Auto Shop to all of my friends and co-workers. Only bad news is that unfortunately Im taking my vehicle to Ford for a 4 wheel alignment and to check the suspension, springs, shocks and etc.. since the alignment didnt work out and to make sure no additional damage was done after the accident.
