Generally speaking, I love Ulta! This particular store is a bit behind the times, has mostly drugstore brands, doesnt have a wide selection and seems to have a sizable clearance area. On top of that, the staff dont seem interested in assisting customers, until they are ready to walk out the door...not sure if this is due to poor management, lack of training or the associates no caring. I went in, hoping to find some nail polish, lip sticks, eye shadows and other items; when I did finally get some assistance, the associate took me to an area I had already looked in (nail polish) and kept showing me the exact opposite of what I was looking for. If you have cool undertones, find another store. This one will have nothing for you. The associate who was assisting me didnt seem to know or understand what I was talking about, when I said "I need a good color for cool skin undertones...nothing too warm." Again, not sure if its lack of training, lack of knowledge or the management of this store hiring folks without much know how. Normally, when I go to an Ulta store location, the staff is friendly, helpful and knows something about the products...or know enough about skin, hair, nails...etc to assist customers with varying needs (if not, they find someone who does). This Ulta is just a subpar, discount cosmetics store.

Nice store, but personnel... Got a haircut which was really bad. Girl named Lisa did it. Not only some strands were at least 1 inch longer than others (on a straight line cut!), but after her blowout my hair looked way worse that before I took a seat in her chair. All frizzy, puffy, uuuggh. I had to ask my husband to fix what she did, and he noticed her mistakes right away. Even though hes as far from knowing anything about hair as one can be. Never ever I want that Lisa to touch my hair. Honestly, I can do a much better job with it. Very upsetting to know that you just paid for someone either not caring for what you look after you leave, or consciously not fixing mistakes. On the floor it was nearly impossible for me to find someone to help me with cosmetics. On my way out there was a short blond girl at the checkout. Shes like Hitler! Never seen anyone in modern retail barking like that tot he customer. I seriously got scared when she started speaking. Bottom line: they carry nice products, definitely. But I would not let them touch me.

Loved this store! Excellent beauty products & the employees are really friendly. Ive been there a few times and each time I was greeted as soon as I entered the store and asked if I needed help while I was shopping. On my last visit I bought the Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum. The cashier told me that was one of her favorite products and that she sometimes applies it before she straightens her hair. I tried that instead of what I normally do and my hair looks and feels much softer. I believe her name was Stephanie. I will continue to shop at Ulta and recommend it to all my friends. The prices are way better than Sephoras and any salon.

Ive gone to the Ulta in New Hartford about 9 times at the most. Each of my visits I buy products that add up to be over $20. For the amount of times and money Ive spent there I have receive help or a greeting by a worker there. Though the register girls are fairly friendly the others arent. Other customers are quickly greeted and helped until they are satisfied whereas I am left trying to find my product. Which brings me to my second point. On ultas website it says that NYX and other makeup brands have black lipstick, I cannot find it any where in the store. I will not be shopping there, I will take my money else where to spend.

I went to another major makeup chain in the area to have my nieces makeup done for her dance recital and was told, "Im sorry, its appointment only" and that was that...no trying to help, no trying to see if they could squeeze me in. I went to Ulta, hoping they could do something and they got me in on the spot for not only her makeup, but also her hair. And because my niece is a child, they also gave me a discount, so her makeup only cost $21 (total of $42 with her hair). They did a great job and were super friendly.

I was so excited to have an Ulta come to our area until it actually opened. This place is rarely stocked with the items I am looking for. The employees are so unfriendly and not willing to help anyone on the floor unless you physically get in there face. The only greeting you get is when you walk into the store and that even sounds unfriendly. I rather just shop online for needs.

Majority of the staff is rude. They dont greet you when cashing out (nor do they say goodbye), nor are they helpful. They have an apparent "Im better than you" attitude. Better off shopping online - your online shopping cart cant make rude remarks to you while cashing out & its certainly easier to find items online.
