This is a horrible business. The management is friendly, but the business is run so terribly that I strongly discourage anyone from buying a Groupon or other package of cleaning sessions. I bought a 3 pack of 2 hour cleaning sessions, and each time I had a major problem getting them to show up at the scheduled time. They were booked online 6 weeks in advance so I was really looking forward to my November appointment. Then, an hour before, I got a call from Brandi telling me the person would be 2-3 hours late. Since id taken the morning off to be home this was a huge inconvenience. When she finally did arrive 4 HOURS late she did a decent job, but I was so annoyed and put out it didnt make up for it. The 2nd session was better in that she was only an hour late, but the girl they sent didnt thoroughly clean anything and after an hour said she was done. I spent the last hour feeling like a jerk to keep asking her to redo parts of the kitchen and bathroom because they just werent clean. Last Tuesday Id scheduled my 3rd appt and half an hour after it was supposed to begin, Brandi emails me and says the woman has called out sick and that they would come Wednesday. WHAT? Do I have nothing better to do than sit around my dirty apartment waiting for them to show up? Infuriated, I called the Manhattan headquarters and spoke to a man who apologized profusely and promised someone would come today. 1/23 at 10:30 AM. Its now 11:20 and when I called and spoke to the same man, he denied remembering our conversation or ever putting it in the schedule. Horrible. Im now calling Groupon to get a refund.

Wouldnt recommend this to anyone. City Maid Service left dirty dishes around the sink, dust on the shelves and spill spots on the floors. I bought 5 4-hour cleanings on Lifebooker. After 2 subpar cleanings I called complaining and asked for a refund. Carl, the owner apologized profusely and promised to send his "best cleaner" along with a representative of the company to inspect the job and make sure it meet my standards. His one request: I be home to inspect the job with his inspector. I booked the appointment over a month in advance and took off from work. The morning of the appointment, I got a call 20 minutes after they were supposed to be here claiming a death in the family saying no one would be coming and they would call back to reschedule. Really?? Even if there was a death in the maids family, this is a company, an agency, why would you not send a replacement??? And for the record, no one called to reschedule. I called 3 different people in the company requesting my money back. Its now 12 days later and I still dont have an appointment or a refund.Its hard to believe these people call themselves professionals.

In agreement with Karin, below. I also wish I could give this company negative stars. I purchased a Groupon for them, it took them weeks to respond to my initial request. An email from "Annabelle" said that they "found my email back in the mix." She emailed me with the next available date, I responded that I would take it and requested a reply email confirmation of the appointment. A few days later, I got said confirmation. On the date of the appointment, I left my keys at the front desk, and CITY MAID SERVICE WAS A NO-SHOW. As if this werent infuriating enough, I have yet to receive a response to any of my emails or phone calls. If this were not posted on Groupon, I would be convinced the entire company is a scam. If the company is so flooded with business that it cannot pick up the phone when someone calls, perhaps they should be in a position to hire an answering service. Whatever you do, DO NOT USE CITY MAID SERVICE, or if you do, expect nothing less than to be treated like garbage as a customer.

I wish I could give them negative stars. I have never been as poorly treated by a company as this. Back in January I booked an appointment for Friday March 2. I received a confirmation email immediately after booking it, so assumed that someone would come clean my apartment at the confirmed time on March 2. I emailed them and called the day before to confirm the appt was still on and left a message on their voicemail. So on March 2 I left work early to get home to meet the cleaners. No one showed up. I emailed the company 15 minutes into the appointment time saying no one had arrived. I never received a response. Ever. I emailed them on March 6th asking them for an explanation. Its now March 8th and still no one has responded to any of my emails or voicemails. This is *no* way to treat a customer.

IT is VERY VERY difficult for me to give 5 stars for a cleaning service as I have tried so many and they have specially disappointed. However, I used City Maid Service in June before moving into my apartment so they can clean the dust and dirt off every shelf and clean the beyond disgusting oven and refrigerator that was left behind. They did a PHENOMENAL job!!!! They left behind the little ledge outside my apartment and the broiler in my oven and City Maid Service sent them the next day to come clean it and they did.. and did a phenomenal job. I am now going to be using City Maid service to clean my apartment on a monthly or biweekly basis. Again.. this is hard, but I really think they make a significant difference.

I, too, wish I could give this company negative stars. I have never been treated so poorly and cannot believe their lack of professionalism. They have been giving me the run around for over 2 months. Carl and Annabelle have completely disregarded my pleas for attention to this matter, despite the fact that I paid $300 for a Groupon. On Monday, they completely missed my appointment altogether and never called to explain. They claim to have not recieved keys I sent to them over a week ago and have had the audacity to tell me that I should just keep calling back because they are too busy to respond. I have contacted Groupon to let them know about the issue and advise everyone against using this horrific company.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY! Primarily due to false advertising in that theyve decided they no longer wish to support requests or Groupons from Staten Island. Their ads state they service ALL boroughs. With the severe lack of customer communication, we have retained an attorney in addition to the Groupon Customer Service Rep attempted to resolve this unprofessional situation. Well also be telling the thousands of friends and family members here, on Twitter, on Tumblr, on Facebook, on our business website, on Judys, on Yelp and ANYWHERE else we can find, to spread the word on their horrible business practices.

I purchased 3 sessions from Groupon and my first session was redeemed today. I was not home for the cleaning, but came home and was able to actually breathe due to all the dust removed! The cleaning was thorough and well done and well appreciated by someone like me who works so much and routinely overlooks housework. If all my sessions work out this well I will be making monthly appointments. The length of time to get an appt is months away but I requested a cancellation date on one of the cell phone numbers. I will cross my fingers.
